💥freddie & marlene💥
so here's the story of freddie's iconic pose on the queen ii album in mick rock's words:
"for the concept, i was feeding off the music and the band. they had no doubt they were going to make it big, so i felt it needed to have a certain grand quality. i’d come across a photo of marlene dietrich on the set of 1932’s shanghai express, and she was under a top light, with hood eyes, arms crossed, fingers spread. i showed freddie the image and he loved it. so that was sold to the rest of the band as the basic idea."
👉p.s. the rest of the guys weren't as enthusiastic about the whole marlene idea because they thought it was too pretentious but freddie made them come around and the rest is history...
and later on of course the iconic queen ii image of freddie and the boys emerging from a black background was resurrected for the bohemian rhapsody video.
even if he was the only one who shared mick rock's vision and the only one who believed in his own grand ideas, freddie never took no for an answer because he could see way into the future... and well it's not everyday you find a rockstar who says "i'll be marlene!" 😏🔥😎
