Sheuly, age 11, is a housemaid in moulvibazar, bangladesh. after school she goes to work with her single mother, where she cleans dishes and takes care of children. she started working at age 9. when i spoke with her, sheuly began to cry. she said she dreams about becoming a teacher. many young girls in bangladesh are forced to drop out of school to help support their family.
As 2017 is wrapping up, i am reminded of the journeys i have witnessed throughout the year. @detroitprep2016 is one of detroit’s most diverse schools. the school was intentionally created with hope of cultivating a space for new and longtime families. #expeditionarylearning #eastside #detroit
