I swear i could sleep 12 hours a night and i would still have bags under my eyes😂 that’s a new look that pregnancy has given me.. talk about pregnancy glow🤣 •


but anyways, today was week ✌🏽 day ✌🏽 of lift4 and it hurt soo good🔥 everything has been sore for two weeks and tomorrow isn’t going to be any different! i modified quite a bit today especially when it came to the hiit portion and i dropped my weight for my last couple sets in biceps but i’m still so proud of myself. i also just have to remember that even a modified workout is better than not doing anything at all💪🏼 also, side note i had to stop halfway through my workout today and get a snack because i’m hungry all the time and i stay snacking😂

Lateral raises are a staple to a solid shoulder workout🔥

How to avoid being a gym meme 🤣

yesterday, i wrote about the ridiculous workouts some fitness influencers post on the gram. i get why we follow them - they’re 🔥 hot and they must have done something to look that way. the real truth is we only see the marketing reel, not the grind behind their body.  do we even know if they had b**t implants? i can’t touch them, so i have no idea! 🤷🏻‍♀️

i’m assuring you that unless you wanna to end up on the feed, @doyouevenlift, you don’t need to do those gram workouts in order to be healthy, strong, or lean. 🥓
.
.
stick with the simple - that’s what we trainers do for our own workouts with cameras off. simple doesn’t have to mean same.
.
 the videos above demonstrate how we can do a simple squat, with different tools you’d find at the gym or could have at home, and vary a simple exercise. .
.
i took the simple squat and varied it by:
1️⃣ 2 dumbbells above shoulder

2️⃣ 1 kettlebell goblet squat

3️⃣ 2 kettlebells racked squat (to go heavy without cumbersome super heavy single bell)

4️⃣ 2 dumbbells held like suitcases.

.

each of these accomplish nearly the same goal with slightly different challenges.  you don’t need to listen to those b**t implant fitness people and pull cables with 🍑 up, one leg in air 🦵🏽balancing on a ball.🔴

Here's a little landmine routine for your tuesday morning!

one of my favorite ways to incorporate a whole lot of core stability is to use the landmine. this gives your body the opportunity to push the bar in a different way.

if you're at a gym, there's probably a landmine in a corner somewhere. if not, you can always just push the bar up against the wall or a heavy plate.

here's the routine:

1️⃣ single arm squat + press x10 ea side
2️⃣ single arm rows x10 ea side
3️⃣ core rotations x10
4️⃣ bar row x10
5️⃣ hop over + burpee x10 .

Just finished listening to my favorite podcast, npr’s hidden brain about the psychology of what we eat. 11/10 recommend you listen to it, but here are my top takeaways:

eat slowly!!!! repeat that 3x to yourself and follow 😘

listen to your hunger cues. this one can be tough for me-i sometimes continue eating after i’m satisfied. 😵 anyone relate???

Slow and controlled

remember, it's not always about how much weight you use but also fully contracting the correct muscle

most people can just “push the weight” or “kick the weight”. what sets a true athlete apart, is the ability to have a controlled tempo throughout the whole movement.

mind muscle connection, a science backed fact, has a significant effect on the quality of an exercise. next time you do an exercise think of that muscle opening/stretching, and closing shut.

know what muscle you're working and what movements are most effective for that specific muscle group💯

If you add up the colors in everything i’ve eaten in china, i probably would (not) be these colors🤤⁣

i did a poll on my instagram story a few weeks back, and more than 80% of respondees said they struggle more with diet than exercise.⁣

from both my own fitness journey and the hundreds of clients i’ve worked with, i can confidently say this is a unanimous struggle.⁣

just “eating healthy” isn’t enough to achieve the results you’re looking for. the term “eating healthy” is subjective and doesn’t incorporate any aspect of eating the correct number of calories for your goals in the correct macromolecule ratios.⁣

by contrast, if you can nail down just those two things and you consistently work out with safe progressive overload, you will progress toward your goals.⁣

but this is of course easier said than done.⁣

if your goal is shredding fat, the biggest struggle is typically the hunger/cravings that come with “dieting.” this is exactly why i wouldn’t recommend “dieting” to almost anyone. to me, dieting implies some element of substantial deprivation.⁣

your bodie thrives on food for fuel, not on deprivation.⁣

this is why i make full meal plans for my clients or calculate calorie/macro goals.⁣

yes, these meal plans may be different than what you’re accustomed to eating. but my clients consistently tell me that the meals are way better than they expected. and that’s exactly the reaction i expect. because people often don’t realize you can have delicious food and still achieve an incredible total body transformation.⁣

furthermore, my meal plan isn’t so rigid that you can’t go out for dinner/drinks or have foods outside of my meal plan; i teach you how to make those things work in your lifestyle within the scope of your goals.⁣

it’s all about balance.⁣

i’m exposed to an insane amount of food on a daily basis in china. and yes, i do try pretty much everything. but i keep my goals in mind, i only eat what i truly want, and of course i #eatcolors.⁣

Life is all about balance. balancing the good with the bad, the diet with the workout, the cheats with the healthy, the mom life with the social life. nothing in this world comes easy or without knowledge and awareness.

you need to focus on these things! it is so easy to get overwhelmed by the bad things that we forget to focus on the good things. it's easy to be overwhelmed and say s***w it, i've been eating like c**p i'm just going to continue. or even say you don't have time for a social life because mom life has taken over.

you need to 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄 time. you need to refocus and put yourself first. 𝗙𝗢𝗖𝗨𝗦 on the good, focus on the positive. you will get so wrapped up in all of the negative and overwhelming if you don't make yourself see, think or feel otherwise!

i think the benefits of a full body workout are underrated. a few good reasons to add full body workouts into your regimen:

bodyfit by amy programs are express versions of the full length e-books, where the main attraction is the clickable workout calendar. they are curated schedules designed to help you strategically focus your workouts in a time efficient, manageable way to reach your health and fitness goals. bodyfit by amy programs are downloadable interactive pdfs, that can be viewed on your computer, tablet, phone or other personal device with internet access.

so.....basically programs are schedules instead of full ebooks, and are shorter pdfs (4 or so pages as opposed to 40) with a clickable calendar and some info on how to use the program. less involved than the ebooks, but more specific and targeted than the monthly calendar. and only $4.99! link in stories.
the is the first of what i hope to be many programs! the hope is to be able to get programming out to you quicker, and give you multiple different options in terms of equipment, time combinations (days/ workout lengths) and more variety in general. please let me know what programs you'd like to see. working on a no equipment program, a 10 minutes a day program, and 3 days a week program, and trx/kettlebell program, but i’d love to know what you want to see! and of course working on full ebooks and programs for prenatal, postnatal and diastasis recti. .
