Beihai park has history of almost one thousand years. one of the oldest and well-preserved imperial gardens existing in china.

the original construction of beihai park can be traced back to liao dynasty (907-1125). base on that, the taining palace was built in 1179 during the liao dynasty (907-1125). in 1267, kublai (1215-1294), the founder of jin dynasty (1271-1368), decided to construct the capital city dadu (in beijing today) centering on the qionghua island, which made the island and its surrounding lake a part of the imperial city of jin and afterwards became the "western garden" of the imperial family of ming dynasty (1368-1644), which left me completely speechless. i can't imagine how much more is in this world that we were just inches from but over looked or missed.. wildly remarkable! i felt like my heart was going to explode out of my chest. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³

Be one with locals.

hutong and siheyuan are traditional beijing residential and buildings with great ancient style. they reflect the unique habitation philosophy of the chinese people.

it's always a great idea to stay in traditional residential area like this when you are in foreign country because you actually get to uncover and experience the daily lifestyle of the inhabitants, which will give you genuine insight into your destination. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³

The history of antarctica is sadly linked to whaling, and one of the main reasons for the early explorations was to exploit it for its seals and whales, hundreds of thousands were killed before they began to be protected 🐳 while fur seals are thriving once more, the whale population was decimated and will take a long time to recover (even longer with japan getting in the way). i was lucky enough to see many whales of various species on my trip to the antarctic with @intrepidtravel - incredible giants in their element, i hope that one day we might see more and more of them, instead of the other way around #beintrepid πŸ“· @jarradseng #savethewhales

Constantly challenge yourself to see the good in every situation and the beauty in everything. i never post to impress anyone instead, i encourage people to get out and explore. the world is too big to stay in one place. there's a lot you don't know, many people to meet, most importantly you need to get out of your comfort zone!

there's is so much more to see in life! ☝️ 5k followers!!! a big thank you to all!!!

Just finished putting up the new hike in bell tent site- here's a picture as promised! i decided not to wait for patrick to finish mowing to help me and putting up solo was slighting hilarious πŸ˜‚...i actually almost fell off the hill side trying to tie a rope off to a tree down hill from the site. i saw the tree down lower and thought i would just "scootch" down to it on my butt. the ground was so thick and grown up with little bushes that i didn't realize how steep the hill was until i starting sliding down it full speed - in a panic i spread my legs as wide as i could and let the tree catch me 🀣🌲....do you have a visual?? thank god i'm not a man is all i can say. tomorrow i get to do the fun stuff: decorate! more pics to come πŸ€—β›ΊοΈ

Wearing a @nelsontreehouse shirt & you see a little bit of a finished treehouse behind me. this has pretty much been my life since january. i didn’t leave my business back home behind though. i have bee juggling working full time on treehouse masters & running @254prod. i’m not complaining though. this year i have already been to 6 states & another country. i’m excited to see what the rest of 2018 has in store for me. i guess what i’m trying to say is, you don’t have to always follow the path & you can make your own. life is what we make it!

Long holiday weekends for us usually mean daddy working 12’s straight through, and we carry on as usual. today my goal is to try and do laundry around a crawling baby, and pray we make it through these next few days. πŸ˜‚πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ lots of big changes ahead for our little family in the coming months. just going to take them one step at a time.πŸ‘£ starting with lunch and laundry. πŸ₯—

Existing for over 400 years, yu garden & yuyuan old street are some of the most visited historic landmarks in shanghai. ideal places to discover what shanghai was like in the old days. here's also where you can find some of the best and authentic shanghainese street food to fill your chinese food cravings. (now, i think you have an idea on why my coat looks like it's going to explode out of my body. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£)
