Good evening b***s 💗 today was a legday for me, but not a usual one. since about ten days i’ve been having an inflamed patellar tendon because of overuse 🤷‍♀️ when you train very heavy things like that can happen, luckily i recognized the symptoms very quickly and i’m working on my recovery. my quads exercises are only focused on my rehabilitation, my hammies and glutes exercises are still the same as before 🍑 guess i’ll be saying goodby to heavy leg pressing for a long time! ——————————————————————

I was meant to post this yesterday but i won’t lie i had a c**p day first of 2020 & i’m annoyed as i wanted to have none or at least try have less this year but things happen we all have bad days but we still get up out of bed and get on with our days and gotta be proud of that! what made my day was my classes getting busier in the gym i work in, it really made my day just seeing people enjoying working out but also pushing themselves 🙌🏽 thankful 💙 onwards & upwards✨

Well all pr's to 59 cat.💪🏻❤️🔥 i did 88+105 but there is soooo much more left in the tank and i can't wait to have a great day on a competition platform.👊🏻 i came close to 90kg snatch. in clean and j**k 108kg and 109kg were pretty off. we will examine those videos and decide what we need to work on.
🙏🏻a huge thanks to @antti400 and mika who have been so great to coach me in competitions. mentally this was one of the best competitions ever. i was very well put together and stayed calm and focused trough out the comp.🙌🏻

So i decided, i’m going to train heavy and keep my calories high and really try to put on size by spring 2021. my goal is to hit 190-195, it’s going to be a tough goal but i’ll have one whole year to put on size. and once summer 2021 comes, i’m going to bring a physique that completely blows away any physique i’ve ever had. i’m excited to see what i can accomplish in this year, let’s bring on the size!

lifting heavy weights will not make you big and bulky

(unless of course, that’s your specific training program - along with amazing self discipline with your meals.)

what heavy lifting will do, however, is build more skeletal muscle in your body.

and the benefits of that?

▪️it helps with weight management. the science behind it is simple. muscle requires more energy than fat, which in turn, burns more calories.
▪️helps with increased insulin sensitivity. since one of the main jobs muscle has is storing glucose from the bloodstream as glycogen - the more muscle we have the better it is at grabbing the glucose.
▪️decreased injury risk. this one is pretty simple. the larger the muscle around our joints, the more protection they have.
▪️it will help give you the shape and tone in your body you’re looking for when you say you “want to be lean”.
▪️it can improve your posture. having the strength to hold good posture which can help with chronic pain due to sciatica and other back ailments.
▪️skeletal muscle makes everyday activities easier. becoming stronger and building muscle helps each day when you must lift, bend, and stretch. also, you’re better able to fight fatigue with more stamina.

so next time you’re at the gym, don’t only go for the cardio machines - start to get comfortable in the weight area!

then the heaviest front squats i’ve hit in a year or more. 86% and 90% for triples! means i should be able to clean that 260# now, right? 🤣

Today i got a workout in with local fire fighter @semanco4 at the @jungle18_20 . big thanks to him for letting me rock some of his gear.
i have a ton of respect for all first responders so i wanted to get a little taste of training in some of the gear they wear. it was def a good one running through this a few times after leg day. going to be doing a first responder event here in the summer so stay tuned. .

I just finished my first exam for the semester, so one challenge was followed by two other equally big challenges.
i began my workout with high-volume squats, then moved on to 4 sets of triples at 85% of my one rep max and my accessory was just 2 sets of weighted dead bugs.
my shoulder mobility is starting to get better and the pulls felt smooth (at first). there is certainly more to come, folks!

I occasionally take videos from the front/back to check the width of my feet and hands and my symmetry. i never share them, because #butt.

i can’t post my videos from the side because #gymfails occurring in the background 😬

one thing to note on the clean and j**k - you don’t have to keep your hook grip. you’re going to have to regrip for the j**k anyways. the only time i keep my hook is when i’m doing multiple cleans in a row while staying on the bar.

Ugh, i s**k at running
i mean bad. i running on a treadmill in a gym with all kinds of people around me is not my idea of a good time
i mean, i feel it all jiggling. not the best feeling in the world. but i have goals and i have to get better
i might not be running a marathon anytime soon
i would walk some, then run some. i did two 10 minute seasons during my workout. i might of gotten 1.5 miles in. so pretty slow. my feet stated to hurt and so did my shins
i’m not enjoying this, i’d much rather lift or hit the stairmaster. really anything else in the gym. plus i could barely put up weight after running
this might not be fun, but this is what i want...what is wrong with me?
oh if you have any tips for a 300+ pound asthmatic, please let me know. right now your boy is struggling. not stopping .

Topset 550 for 3, followed with 495x5x3 and 385x2x4 5-0-0 tempo squats. deads definitely moved better than last weeks did. next week is rpe10 week, depending on how i feel that day i may give 585 a go for 3.

Two years ago.. and countless other times in the last two years i told myself i would try to build my muscles. after finally hitting my goal weight and taking a couple months off to enjoy my success and keeping off the weight i finally started to work at this new goal. two weeks in and going strong. i have @mathewfassett giving me tips. can already notice a difference but i have to keep going to hit my new goal. and ofcourse i have @thatvegangirlsara helping me stay healthy with hitting my protein goals. .

*sound on* i’ve never actually listened to the lyrics of this song (“dance monkey” by i and tones) that i lifted to today... until i was lifting alone, struggled to make all my snatches (i eventually 🙄did), and was faced with “heavy” c&js...
after working 6 shifts in 7 days in the er, i am beat + it’s week #3 of @fourhorsemensc program which means it’s the last week to push/go heavy before we deload then start at new cycle... .
so i fought through my snatches & then had c&j singles to face... then this song came on. i played it on repeat & made every single c&j: locked out...front foot, back foot... you get it. but i made it because of this song. .
why a song? well...i ended my 6th shift in our “resuscitation room” on a monday. monday’s in the er mean one thing = chaos. every assignment is tough, every patient load is no easier than your coworker’s next to you... and in our resuscitation room, well it was a steady state of adrenaline followed by adrenaline dump, reset aaaand repeat. i actually love working in that room (that or in our trauma bay), but with the territory comes the inevitable: exhaustion, feeling like you’re just going through the motions (hence the song), & trying to stay sharp while you critically think + thank your coworkers for the help + respect family members + (you get the idea).
heavy c&js after a tough s****h session, i was mentally defeated today. then i actually listened to the lyrics... it me: yesterday in our code room. i was the monkey just dancing through the movements. that’s not fair. to me. to my patients. to my coworkers. sadly, burn out in emergency medicine (for first responders too- police, firefighters, emts, military) is real & a big cause for depression, divorce, anxiety... i could go on. i was definitely going through the motions yesterday.
so today i did everything i am lucky enough to do for the patients that don’t get to make it home. i danced. i lifted. i watered my plants. i drank matcha in a coffee shop. i listened to music. i regrouped.
sometimes we are just trying to make it through a day at work. in emergency nursing, sometimes it takes everything you’ve got to be the best you can that day.

Wanna get toned? cool.
here are the ways in which we can change how our bodies look. we can:
1. build muscle.
2. lose muscle.
3. gain fat.
4. lose fat.
and that's it.🤨
but what about getting toned, you ask?🤔
well, here's what toned is: it's building some degree of muscle (#1 on the list above) and losing enough f*t (#4 on the list) so that the muscle you've built becomes more visible. this, in a nutshell, is all "tone" is. muscle - f*t = tone.
but what about getting too bulky, you ask?🤔
well, here's what bulkiness is. it's when you either a) unintentionally build more muscle (#1) than you'd prefer to have (something that is pretty rare considering the average intermediate man might gain 1lb of muscle *per month* under ideal circumstances, and the average intermediate woman might gain half that), b) gain more f*t (#3) than you'd prefer to have thereby covering your muscles and preventing you from looking "toned" (this is, by far, the most common reason why someone thinks they look "bulky"), or c) some combination of both.
but then you may wonder... what about weight training itself?
doesn't light weights, high reps, machines and isolation exercises make people toned, sculpted, defined, slim and feminine? no... they don't.🙅‍♀️
and doesn't heavy weights, lower reps, free weights and compound exercises make people bulky and manly looking (practically overnight)? no... they don't.🙅‍♀️
so, the next time you're thinking about lifting "light weights" to "get toned" and avoid getting "too bulky," please realize that
a) your logic is fundamentally flawed😒
b) you're unlikely to be doing anything with those "light weights" that will result in building the muscle you need to build and/or losing the f*t you need to lose in order to achieve the "toned" appearance you are seeking!🙄 #rantover -

I decided to step out of my comfort zone this year, and share my weight lifting experiences to motivate and inspire anyone struggling to gain weight and add on muscle.

here’s my transformation. started weight training 1/23/2019. i went from 159.6 lbs to 215.2 lbs within a year. photo dates...1/20/19, 6/3/2019, and 1/6/2020. 9%, 12%, and 17% body fat.

my advise is figuring out what works for you don’t be afraid to change up and try different things, consistency is the 🔑. follow your macros. ask a bunch of questions, watch videos on youtube university, and don’t get discouraged when you don’t see results right away. i was afraid of losing weight during the process so i avoided cardio as much as possible, unless doing short sprints or climbing stairs. i’m happy about my gains but there is a long way for me to is the limit.

i’ll start cutting weight over the next 6-8 weeks by stepping up my cardio and changing my diet. yoga helped me a lot during the beginning but then i got bored so didn’t do it as much. my range of motion has changed and my clothes don’t fit right anymore, i’m okay with that though because i don’t plan on wearing shirts all summer neways.

Jeg havde en fantastisk træning til aften💪🏽så stadig ikke heeelt samme styrke, men det hjælper på det!
tøjet blev testet igennem en træning 💃🏽😍
og det fungere bare! de her tights, de er for vilde! jeg glemte helt at jeg havde tights på!😩😍 de er virkelig fantastiske og de sidder bare, og de bliver siddende, lige der hvor de skal sidde!🙌🏽💪🏽😍
trøjen har jeg også kun gode ting at sige om, den er jo ligesom min grønne ynglings trøje🤷🏽‍♀️😅 den er dog lidt stor i størrelsen, så hvis man ikke er til overzie tøj, så skan man tag en størrelse mindre og tightsne vil jeg sige, hvis man svinger mellem 2 størrelser så ville jeg vælge den største ☺️
