the radcliffe camera (camera means "room" in latin, colloquially, "rad cam" or "the camera") is a building of oxford university, england, built in neo-classical style to house the radcliffe science library.
the circular dome and drum of the radcliffe camera provides one of oxford's most iconic sights, and is a distinctive landmark in a city full of distinctive landmarks and stunning architecture.
the beautiful, light-filled, circular, columned library was built 1737-1749 as ‘radcliffe library’. the construction and maintenance was funded from the estate of dr john radcliffe, a royal physician, who left £40,000 upon his death in 1714.
it's only been a ‘camera’, which simply means ‘room’, since 1860, when it lost its independence and became what it remains, a reading room of the bodleian library, the main research library of the university of oxford, and one of the oldest libraries in europe.
I'm going for a strong splash of colour in honour of today's tea & tattle guest, philippa stanton of @5ftinf. philippa's boundless creativity is so inspirational, and today on the podcast, we chat about philippa's new book, 'conscious creativity', which is due out on november 15th.
i'm excited to be attending the book launch on thursday, but in the meantime, philippa reads aloud a sneak peek on today's episode, and we have a fascinating chat about what creativity means, how to develop your own eye, and why sometimes it's a good idea to pursue what scares or disturbs you. link in bio or swipe up from stories to listen!

How stunning does the st. pancras renaissance hotel look 😍? the hotel was first introduced to the public as the midland grand hotel in 1876, and has been wowing passers by with its glorious gothic revival style architecture since. the hotel closed in 1935 and was reopened in 1967 with grade i listed status.
if you are passing through the area, retreat from the hustle and bustle of london with a personal butler 🧐 in the victorian–inspired spa, or grab a spot of tea ☕ whilst watching travellers pass through st. pancras station.
massive thank you to @sita_lombera for capturing this shot 📷
