should you take carbohydrates during a long run?🥤
from my point of view i believe that during the long runs in the general period therefore far from the marathon you should not take carbohydrates during long runs, so as to stress the body more and simulate the crises that will be faced in the race.

on the contrary, during last part of preparation is very important that during your long runs eat what will be assumed during marathon, so it will be necessary to take the same quantities and brands of supplements every "x" km that you will want take during race, so that on the race day there will be no nasty surprises and supplementation during long runs allow a greater intensity.

dal mio punto di vista reputo che durante i lunghi svolti nel periodo generale quindi lontano dalla maratona non si dovrebbe assumere carboidrati durante, così da stressare maggiormente l’organismo e simulare le crisi che si affronteranno in gara, visto che sia l'intensità che la lunghezza non dovrebbe ancora essere così elevata.

al contrario durante i lunghissimi finali svolti nel periodo pre agonistico è molto importante che si facciano le prove generali sul cosa si assumerà in gara, per cui bisognerà prendere le stesse quantità e marche di integratori ogni “x” km che si assumeranno in gara, così che il giorno della gara non si abbiano brutte sorprese e anche per consentire un’intensità maggiore durante l’allenamento.

wow. so viele schwere hindernisse auf der strecke. bis kurz vorm ziel erste elite-frau.

✔ hangeln an kurzen seilen.
✔ rig mit holzkugeln und -kegeln 1,20m über dem boden (hab 5 versuche gebraucht)
✔ irish table
✔ erschwerter twister (1,70m hoch, griffe nur alle 60cm und gegenüber)
✔ salmon ladder
❌ multirig mit bouldergriffen, tellern, großen kugeln (verschärfte regeln für elite)

da hab ich tatsächlich die salmon ladder geschafft, obwohl ich echt schiss hatte, weil die stange nicht gesichert war. und dann scheitere ich 20m vorm ziel.

ärgerlich. aber die schlangen wurden auch immer länger und wir wandern ja heut noch den teide hoch. da hab ich nach zwei versuchen mein band abgegeben. .
ich bin trotzdem sooooo stolz auf mich, weil ich die salmon ladder geschafft hab 💪💪💪💪 .
und die bouldergriffe stehen schon auf meiner einkaufsliste! #comebackstronger .

Another week of work done ☑️ i accomplished 2 successful speed sessions and lots of easy endurance runs, finishing off with 74 miles total 🙌🏼 spending the rest of my weekend chillin’ (with minimal work!) and a sunday brunch tomorrow 🥂

What a great morning's work!!

went out with a purpose this morning, firstly to go up hill and secondly to keep the pace up and work hard. i've been lacking in a bit of running confidence recently and keep finding myself at the back of the pack thinking that's where i belong. i may have been at the back of this pair today but their job was to keep pushing and making sure i was still right there and they did just that, and at a good minute a mile faster than i have ever done this route, and with very brief recovery stops i'm pretty chuffed with this run.

500ft of elevation and the last climb is a bit of a beast but the downhill off the back is awesome even for a massive scaredycat like me, i went for it a bit today and loved it.

Last run in salt lake city was a success. i got a little bit of the city, a little bit of trail, capitol building views, and a fellow cytopathology member to run with for the last mile.

i have had such an incredible time in slc, learning at the american society of cytopathology annual conference, gorgeous hotel, delicious food, beautiful views. i’m coming back to minnesota with so much inspiration and drive. i’m ready to take on new challenges. bring it on!

Sunday runday workout und somit die erste trainingswoche geschafft. bin sehr zufrieden, auch wenn es etwas intensiv war. aber wer sich ziele setzt, darf sich auch schon mal bissal quälen. bei dem vorgaben am trainingsplan hatte ich zwar meine bedenken, aber eigentlich ging es relativ gut. jetzt genieße ich noch den rest des sonntag, werde kochen und meine speicher auffüllen bevor es morgen dann in die 2. trainingswoche geht .... 🏃🏻‍♂😅😁🥩🥦⁠⠀

3rd woman at my first race (and tempo run) in 3 months post injury 😬🥳/ med en så smuk morgen som imorges, og et løb i baghaven, så kunne intet holde mig tilbage fra at jogge ned, købe et eftertilmeldingnr og t***e kroppen og formen idag 😬 jeg kom ikke for at vinde. jeg vidste godt at der var løbere hurtigere og bedre form end jeg. hvilket er helt okay - selvom ja, det er da sjovest at være øverst på skamlen 😂. derfor startede jeg heller ikke allerforrest, og havde altså en start der allerede bød på at indhente de forreste - av🥵😂 idag var målet at have det sjovt (og hårdt) t***e min status efter skaden, som jeg blot er vendt tilbage til løbeskoene efter. det vigtigste for idag var altså, at jeg kom helskindet i mål - og dét gjorde jeg🙏🏾🙋🏽‍♀️ med en god høj puls, og en slut-tid på 17.44 min (3.32min/pr km) er udgangspunktet ligesom lagt. nu er jeg motiveret, og klar på at genopbygge en løbeform og en speed til foråret 🔥. generelt en skøn formiddag, snak med en masse dejlige mennesker og en afslutning hvor jeg mødtes med @stevenferaru til løbe-fotoshoot. så har min søndag virkelig allerede været én af de der super god dage😍

John dragged me out of bed for the brighton 10k this morning, happy with a solid sub 40 (39.20) no pb but i’m still practising my ‘tempo’ pace! and it meant i had enough breath to cheer on some familiar faces. everyone i knew seemed to be called paul this morning 😂

A night run to end my week.

i wanted to sit in right around 7:25, but ended up a bit faster. it was nice to stretch my legs after yesterday’s trail slog.

back up near 60 miles this week, just under where i want to be by the end of november. i’ve been taking my time getting my mileage back up post-hundo, but it’s just about time to start preparing for abf. fun times ahead! (as well as a nice rest day tomorrow.)

Thursday's events got extended to friday... and it was all worth the wait!

got my vo2max test done with @pnoe_analytics at @thebodylab_jc and we're waiting on the full 8 page report which will explain in-depth nutrition, training zones and few others that i'm curious to hear to compare to the data i've collected over the years with the formulas available... being on a treadmill wasn't new to me. i always have @gozwift on ipad and @strydrunning #powermeter data displaying on my phone. so, i knew my power numbers per speed and stayed efficient. what was odd was breathing through the mask but i don't think it made much difference on i perform in a daily... everything needed to gather data was there so there was no need to push further hitting peak in 16 minutes!!! friday morning got a delivery from @on_running because they took care of me with an issue, which allowed me to #runonclouds, now with a double layer and helion cushioning.

to spice things up, i used a different route as i remembered being hilly last time i ran there.
using @strydrunning #runwithpower #footpod provided me a steady power pacing (see chart).
you can start running with one as well, use helder at checkout and treat yourself to #perfectpacing every time you run.

these #cloudstratus felt super stable and secure.
i usually pick regular roads to run on and this had sidewalks, pavement in construction and i finished the 1-hour #temporun with a 15 minute walk on a hilly course with 7.35 miles logged. customer service wanted me to stay loyal to the brand and this did it. i'm all in!!! #wahooligan #swimbikerun #findfaster #doubleyourrun

Your race starts when the pain starts 🔥

i was thinking today about how i’ve learned so much about the mental component of running-& really only just begun exploring it within the last year. then i was thinking- what on earth was i doing out there when i first started running. i was out there suffering, yes. but that’s kinda the extent. i thought that if i was suffering- that was enough- that it meant that i was doing my best. now i realize there’s a little more to it than that.😅

maybe this is intuitive to just about everyone- but i think if you’re a newer runner like me- you maybe didn’t know this too. you feel the first sensation of pain & it tells you that it’s all downhill from here- your pace starts slowing, you accept it, & just brace yourself for the pain & slow pace. as long as i was hurting- then i felt like i was doing all i could. martyr mentality - but without *any* benefits of being in the pain cave.🙄 haha.

i’ve been playing around with pushing against the pain sensation & learning that there is still so much there once my brain tells my body it is tired & wants to quit. your mind’s default mode is- stop girl, you’re soooo tired. but i’ve learned that my mind’s signals to my body has been cheating me - because there is more there.😅
.
now i am not content to be out there just suffering & hurting- i’m actively coaching myself through it- pushing into the pain. it’s a totally different action while hurting. instead of resigning myself to a slower pace & accepting defeat, i try to relax into the pain, stay calm, & coach myself back onto pace. your mind controls your body. never forget that. and you control your mind. so you can let your mind run wild, reiterate negative thoughts, keep telling yourself you’re fatiguing- or you can take back control & encourage & tell it what it needs to do. so be actively coaching & encouraging yourself & doing all the things to get back onto pace- because if you don’t fill your mind with those thoughts- the fatigue thoughts will try to take over. remember who is in charge. (you!!!)

Bike madness at 4000m: ✅ 👊 .
long story short: scientific study on the effects of altitude on aerobic and anaerobic metrics; 10 weeks total with a bunch of tests and 6 weeks of training.
.
two 1 hour long session er week, at a simulated altitude of 4000m (12% o2) with 30s all out sprint repeats (4 the first week, 9 the last week). a killer 💀 .
a good occasion to spend less time running while still training hard. overall fitness is good, aerobic fitness is improving and, bonus, these lactate clearance workouts are doing wonders when i’m back on my feet 😁👌

now back to “normal” with more running specific training sessions.

When the temps are in the 50’s it’s hard not to run fast even when you know you have an 18 miler the next day 🤦‍♂️

this #temporun felt great though. my #5k split was an 8:06 pace building up from an 8:30ish pace on the first mile. the last mile was nice n easy.

8 miles with some tempo paces thrown in there. breaking it up into shorter segments definitely helped this run go by faster, along with some good podcasts! (i listened to @wplpod and @rambling_runner ) also, temps in the mid 30s felt pretty perfect. i can’t believe i’m saying that after feeling like 40 degrees was cold just a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure i'll ever find the right words to describe these early morning tempo workouts. sometimes they're almost fun, but today it was brutal.

25 degrees, 15 mph headwind in what seemed like all directions, and some doubt that it was going to go well. ended up doing 1+2+1 (7:38, 7:41, 7:29, 7:14) with 400m recovery in the breaks. i probably should feel accomplished, but it felt like a cop-out
.
oh well, here's to another 13 hour work day

Time to parkrun! ☺️ i’m actually loving being able to ‘race’ parkrun without worrying about destroying my legs for a sunday long run.
my favourite moment this morning though, was a dad calling back his son who was too far ahead and obviously under 11. he turned around and with a really incredulous look said ‘dad, you’re sooo slow’. dad was 7.30 minute mile-ing 😂. love how many speedy kids there are out there.
anyway, we have a very long overdue date with a paintbrush and a p*t of dulux...... happy weekend everybody!

🇬🇧(🇩🇪 in den kommentaren) periodization: part 1 - principles: the basic idea behind periodization is that you emphasize different type of runs during the various stages of your training cycle. pioneered by new zealand coach arthur lydiard, this used to mean that you first build general endurance, then strength and finally speed. the modern interpretation of this idea has been shaped by, amongst others, italian coach renato canova. the guiding principle here is that your training converges from both the speed and general endurance side towards your race goal pace. in the early training cycle this implies a lot of easy to moderate (long) runs on the one hand, and short intervals (200 to 400 meters) as well as drills and technique training on the other hand. over the course of time, the long runs become faster and include more kilometres in goal race pace. in turn, the intervals become longer and slower and more tempo/threshold runs, which are typically run at a pace slower than intervals, are included. have you been using periodization in your training or do you intend to so and want to know more? let me know!

Yes it’s a fuzzy picture because i was running! today was my first tempo run of the winter! i am so happy my job has a treadmill. i have no excuse as to why i can’t run everyday other than my own laziness! at mile 2 i wanted to quite, mile 3 i wanted to throw up and mile 4 i was so glad it was over! #temporun #hardtodaybutpushedthrough

Super pleased with today's run! decided to test my pace-perception and attempt 4 miles at 7:20 pace without looking at my watch. i kind of assumed i would end up too slow, but was curious to see. i knew i had to hold back on the slight downhill and push h*****n the slight uphill. ended up pleasantly surprised to see how close i came to my goal!
