I started with a 5km run on the treadmill and then headed to 6am class which is never boring 😃! @theprimaltrainer guided us through a body blast class this morning at the @thereproomlondon 😅. the workout really is more enjoyable when you smile and i was smiling the whole time. i have been attending classes for about 4 weeks now and i have recently noticed i difference in my body. my arms, legs and b**t are tightening up. i have been a little more tired on my runs and not putting in as much mileage as usual but it’s a welcomed change and i am really enjoying this experience! .

when i did this to myself...how does that make sense man?!

i was bound and determined to make up the excuses and come back with the quickest comeback. that was my game. that’s how i played it and look at the prizes i won. 💩

i had a rude awakening because i had to finally choose to quit being such a b***h and let life happen for me. i was given ketones first by my husband who had heard of them and then watched a complete stranger change her life and so for some reason i decided to trust it and i finally jumped in. even though i knew should would be wrong. lol i just knew she would be?!?

turns out i was the one that was wrong. it became apart of my clean eats, mindset and movements daily! it had changed how i live my life. it’s made me want to live life.

Hello sunday! 🙃 my planned long run turned out to be a tempo run this morning. last minute changes as i had already done some longer, easy training yesterday. did a 10k with 4 x 1k tempo (tough one! 😅). weather was cold but sunny, at the end it was perfect for a run! ☀️ also my first run in my new @rockay_running compression socks. i waited for a heavy run to try them out, so that i had some good references to experience the benefits. absolutely love how they support my legs as well during my run as afterwards. my calves feel less stiff after these kind of workouts and that's quite important for me so that i'm able to handle the next training sessions. time for some good food and a lazy evening now! ❤️

✔️write down my to-do list. without writing it down or putting it on my calendar, i’m most likely going to forget about it. i check off my tasks throughout the day as i complete them!

✔️communicate your goals with someone else. this could be a coach, loved one or friend! telling someone what you want to achieve will keep you accountable 🙌🏼.
.
✔️celebrate your daily wins and grow from your losses. choose to see what you’re doing right and it will be much easier to keep that positive mindset going throughout the week.
.
doing these three things will help you create healthy habits that will ultimately lead you to taking steps in the direction you need to reach your goals!

the more intentional you are with your day, the more you will succeed.

here are a few pointers on what you should start incorporating into your fitness regimen if not already, ok? 😇⁣

👉🏾start eating a colorful plate with a ton of different food groups. don’t focus on just protein. your body needs a little bit of everything. ⁣

👉🏾make your workouts fun!! 🌈 doing physical activity that you hate makes you dread that part of your day and ultimately not motivated, right?? if you’re doing some boring s**t right now, change it. do something you’d like! zumba, fitness challenges (if you’re competitive like myself) outside workouts. whatever you’re into 😊 ⁣

👉🏾drinking your calories.... omg this was huge for me. i have a small frame right? i’m short, like short. and let’s say i’m splurging on a meal i really really want, ok cool. but then i add a xl juice or lemonade with it. noooo. that’s not ok!! i won’t even go there but the amount of cal. and sugar in juice and pop is literally giving me anxiety as we speak. i was so bad at this. i could drink gallons of fruit punch daily. i stay away from that now. bc i still can’t tell myself no. way more options than juice that are yummy and healthy. ⁣

👉🏾whenever you’re eating your next meal, slow down. take it in and enjoy the food lol. don’t hog it down super fast. therefore you’ll feel fuller longer and eat less. it’s a mind game when it comes that one. but trust me- it works!! ⁣

i remember how hard it was to make the changes i needed to make to see the results i wanted to see. even though i wanted so badly to feel better about myself and to be comfortable in my own skin, it was hard to make the new habits i needed to make it happen.

i doubted, i tried, and i failed many times along the way- but i can say without a doubt that you are capable of making the changes you wanna make and living the life you wanna have if you keep trying and never give up! if i can do this, you can do this!

I want to be completely transparent with you guys. i have been on the struggle bus for the past 3 weeks when it comes to my workouts and nutrition. i know i talked about it a little in a previous post, but i think i downplayed it a lot. between work and my kids (2 er visits for athena and a doctor visit for atlas - everyone is on the mend now) i have restarted week 9 pwr at home (round 2) twice already. guess what? i’ll have to restart week 9 again next week because i only got one liss session in this week. it’s likely i won’t get any more workouts in this week because atlas is sick. talk about rough parenting weeks!

i feel like i have fallen off the fitness wagon and it’s caused my anxiety to go through the roof. this anxiety has made me a mom, wife, and friend that i don’t recognize. i decided yesterday to take back my control and not let anxiety take over. i made a list of goals – no scale goes, calorie goals, or size goals. this takes the pressure off for me. i’m focusing on my health, mental and physical. i no longer have the desire to be a certain size or weight. i want to be comfortable in my own skin. i want to feel healthy. i want to lose the guilt, the guilt of not being perfect. i’m trying to remind myself daily that it’s not what i do all the time, but what i do most of the time. i hate it when guilt sneaks up on me!!!!

Quad-focused leg day

happy friday! i wanted to share some thoughts i had last night. i got home from dance and felt rather discouraged. this week was my second week of class (we didn’t have class last week due to thanksgiving). we did some combinations last night that were rather challenging (for me at least) and were with skills i have been working on getting back, but are not quite there yet. i ended up not doing the final combination because i didn’t want to look silly. the other dancers in the class are very talented and were executing the combination very well. i get frustrated because, for me, turns have been one of the hardest skills and it was a turning combination. i was upset last night but i decided instead of spiraling down and beating myself up over it, i’m going to work even harder so i can do the combination for next week. tonight, after my lift, i am going to practice the combination until i can do it (at least we’ll enough). i might even post it on my story. we shall see.

what is the takeaway from this? instead of feeling discouraged that you are unable to perform a certain task, use those feelings as fuel to figure out a way to improve in the area that the task requires. youtube is a great resource. there are so many great videos on academic, fitness, and so many other topics that available for free. you can also reach out to a friend or someone with more experience for help.

it’s okay to ask for help and to need help. some skills require a little extra work. and that’s okay!

My running friends know that i can make a training plan, see it through, and b**g out a race.
my coaching friends and customers know that i can follow a fitness or nutrition program and see it through from start to finish.
but what i have yet to do is balance these 2 loves in my life! if i’m running, im not following a program from start to finish. and if im following a program, i’m rarely running.

so this is my next challenge. boston is about 20 weeks away and training officially begins in 2 weeks although i’m getting back into a routine with running now.
obviously when liift4 was released it was a game changer for runners. we had never had such a great program to complement a running training plan with only 4 days a week of workouts. this is what i will be doing for the majority of my marathon training.
and this is when i need the utmost accountability! i need to be consistent with both my workouts and my runs because i really want my comeback to running to be strong and better than ever! so i give you permission to give me the tough love i often give to you. and if you are looking to level up, join me! especially if you are are runner looking to implement strength training. happy to help and it’s always more fun together ❤️👯‍♀️

I struggle with control, and not having a lot of it. 😅 growing up, my mom was sick. i ate to feel better, to cope and to just do something that felt good. i ate because eating was the only thing i felt in control of. ⁣

i’ve grown up and worked on that.. and this last year, it’s tested me again big time.. my nana got real sick, and then the holidays came, and then being a working mom got to be stressful... and ya know what was there? ⁣

⚠️how to actually become more consistent⚠️

we all know it’s not how well you do something once in awhile, but how well you do it over a sustained period of time.

but, how do we actually begin to cultivate consistency in our day-day?

1️⃣ automate.

get rid of the junk food - don’t even let it be an option. pack your workout clothes & meals for the next day. schedule your workouts into your calendar like any other important mtg.

2️⃣ focus on your big 3.

what are the three non-negotiable things you’re going to do today to get closer to your goals?

3️⃣ surround yourself with accountability.

i pretty much hit the “jack”-pot (hah) in scoring the best coach & #dailyinspo ever as my husband.

but forreal, nothing gets past him & it’s made the biggest difference to have someone in my corner who believes in me so much.

Everyone talks about how motivation isn’t always there and you have to rely on dedication and discipline. which i 100% agree with. but i understand it’s so much easier to say than do. like how am i supposed to have the discipline when i can’t even make stop eating the bag of chips? how am i supposed to build that dedication if i can’t get to the gym?

to be blunt you probably just don’t care enough. that may sound harsh but to be honest if you want something bad enough you will find a way to do it.

start out by writing a list of all the reasons you don’t want to do it. like get down to the nitty gritty. is it because you don’t want to fail? your me embarrassed? you think it’s genetic? something happened in the past that’s turning you away? why can’t you do it?

then create another list of all the reasons you need to do it. don’t write ‘because i want to look better’ everybody wants that. but guess what? the second there’s a plateful of cookies on the table you’re going to say s***w it i don’t care how i look and eat 3 of them.

you need to write a list of how it will affect your life and why if you don’t do it, it’s not going to just hurt you but people close to you.

get down to how it’s going to make you more confident. how that will make you stand straighter. maybe you loving yourself will help your relationship. or how you walk in a room to land a job. how you’ll have more energy. how you will show up better for the people who need you most. like seriously how would it make you a better sister, mom, teacher, etc.

screw motivation. you’re worth more than that.

it’s true! do noooot put off your goals till last minute and over restrict yourself trying to look a certain way. it’s best to give yourself time to reach your goals and not overwhelm yourself.

have you been taking a lot time off more than usual because of the holidays? you know you need to start working out again but you feel stressed just by the thought of it?

it probably feels like a huge production. my advice? just start!

whether it’s a run, or a lifting session. don’t even worry about being perfect. it’ll probably s**k your first time coming back, and that’s okay.

it’s true when they say showing up is just half the battle. the small step of just going is all you need to build up that motivation and momentum again.

I’d been debating whether or not to officially announce it or not as i liked the idea of not putting unnecessary pressure on myself, but then i realized that part of what i enjoy about ig is taking you all through each step of my journey so with that being said- i’m so excited to say that i officially started prep again on monday and the biggest challenge and thing i’m most nervous about is that i’m coaching myself through the whole process so i’m very excited to share each aspect of this journey with you all. i haven’t been on stage since july of 2018 and i have a couple of shows in mind that i’m working toward but i’ll announce those as i get closer- so for now you get to know that i’m on prep- coaching myself- and am x number of weeks out lol. let’s get to work peeps!

gym tip: tips to lose fat⁣
here are a few pointers on what you should start incorporating into your fitness regimen if not already, ok? 😇⁣

👉🏾start eating a colorful plate with a ton of different food groups. don’t focus on just protein. your body needs a little bit of everything. ⁣

👉🏾make your workouts fun!! 🌈 doing physical activity that you hate makes you dread that part of your day and ultimately not motivated, right?? if you’re doing some boring s**t right now, change it. do something you’d like! zumba, fitness challenges (if you’re competitive like myself) outside workouts. whatever you’re into 😊 ⁣

👉🏾drinking your calories.... omg this was huge for me. i have a small frame right? i’m short, like short. and let’s say i’m splurging on a meal i really really want, ok cool. but then i add a xl juice or lemonade with it. noooo. that’s not ok!! i won’t even go there but the amount of cal. and sugar in juice and pop is literally giving me anxiety as we speak. i was so bad at this. i could drink gallons of fruit punch daily. i stay away from that now. bc i still can’t tell myself no. way more options than juice that are yummy and healthy. ⁣

👉🏾whenever you’re eating your next meal, slow down. take it in and enjoy the food lol. don’t hog it down super fast. therefore you’ll feel fuller longer and eat less. it’s a mind game when it comes that one. but trust me- it works!! ⁣

i finally took a risk. i reached out to a complete stranger, put all my faith in her that she could help me. it didn't happen over night.

but, with her help, and my newfound drive to be better i changed my life, one decision at a time!

i trusted that this risk wouldn't outweigh the reward i would end up reaching. .
i can't imagine where i would be today, had i not taken that risk 3 years ago. .
it really is as easy as making one decision, to change your whole life! .
so, i challenge you to take that risk, embrace the change, and know that you are always capable of creating a different life for yourself!

Preaching to myself here… but you can come along for the journey 😂⁣

i’ve recently had some less than ideal workouts. whether i was low on energy, had bad body image, couldn’t lift as much as i wanted… whatever.⁣

i ended up finding myself feeling so disappointed, and in a worse headspace than before working out. what is that?! ⁣

the gym is my me place. i take care of myself there. i usually leave with nothing but pride in myself for moving my body.⁣

i did some soul searching yesterday to try to pinpoint why i have been feeling this way, and how i can change it. (because yes it’s a choice to change your mindset. it doesn’t “just happen”).⁣

i think i figured it out. everyone goes on and on about “the best” way to xyz. the best way to grow muscles. the best way to lose weight. the best way to progress. blah blah blah. ⁣

my workouts have not been up to par if i am trying to fit in with the “best” way of growing muscles. or the “best” way to change my body composition.⁣

but the thing is that i am not a body builder. i am not in any sort of working out competition. ⁣
(reality check- a lot of “fitspos” were, or are, doing one of these).⁣

so i need to stop valuing my workouts based on anything other than that i am showing up, and giving my all.⁣

i am going to get back to the place of moving my body simply for the joy of feeling strong. ⁣

this doesn’t mean i don’t have goals, or that i won’t have good/hard days. but i am working on removing the word “bad” from my workout vocabulary. ⁣

so, here’s to showing up, working hard, and being strong!⁣

Want to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders?

try this shoulder workout:

1. upright rows (compound move; all 3 delt heads including traps, rhomboids and biceps)
2. arnold press (compound move; all 3 delt heads)
3. leaning cable lateral raises (medial delts. leaning for greater range of motion)
4. face pulls (rear delts)

3-4 sets 8-12 reps. use a weight that is challenging enough but able to maintain good form.

Gooood morning ❤️🤩!!!! this morning i was feeling extremely festive🎄🎅🏼 sooo i decided i was going to try my hand at making myself a peppermint mocha ☕️🤤!! i like starbucks peppermint mocha but the sugar and all that c**p in it just ain’t it sis 🥴. soo all you need for this magic in a cup is :
coffee - i brewed a large cup
heavy cream- 3 ish tbsps
stevia- 1 tbs or more for preference
peppermint extract- a few or more drops
unsweetened cocoa powder- 2 tbsps

“you are not worthy”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

i would cope by emotional eating, smoking, drinking, smoking pot, anything i could do to cover those feelings and further solidify the negative thoughts.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

because of coaching and lots of work on myself, i have learned to give myself grace. i have learned that i am human and that i am doing the best that i can. i have learned to use affirmations to stop those negative thoughts because they don’t serve me or the people i love. i have learned that one day, bad moment, or single interaction doesn’t make up for all the good times, the laughter, and the love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I decided last night that i was going to run outside this morning. the weather was -1° so i set out my layers of clothes. it snowed a little last night, but that blanket of snow was covering a blanket of ice 😬. i realized pretty quick and was really careful on this run. the fresh fallen snow gave me a bit of traction so that helped a little 👍. i can honestly say i was dressed perfectly for the temperature today because i was not cold at all 💯. next time i lay out my clothes for the morning i will take a picture of them to share 😁.

Hml#363 - upper body drop set with full body buy-in

loved this one!! from the really good mix of full body moves in the buy-in to kick us off. i worked out how to utilise my squat rack to do my pull ups. can strengthen my abs at the same time, by staying in an l-sit! perfect!! now to gain strength in those 💪🏼💪🏼❤️❤️ i have such a live/hate relationship with training arms! i find it so much harder to push through the pain - as opposed to training legs!

When i stand on a scale, this is what i see.
over the last two years, i’m actually finding myself standing on a scale less and less.
that number is just so irrelevant.
it measures nothing that is important to me and it does nothing but make me judge myself.
the things i pay attention to now are 💥how my clothes feel on my body 💥how i have new muscles and definition 💥 how i am upping my weights while lifting 💥 how i can do more reps 💥 how i can push myself farther, harder, faster in a workout 💥 how my headspace is—more positive self talk 💥 how i can freely say no (or yes) to certain foods without feeling guilty and with enjoyment 💥 how i laugh and smile more 💥 how my mind and body and soul are more strong

none of that has to do with a number on a scale and all of it has to do with being fit!

Why wait until the new year to make a resolution? i’ve been working h*****n cleaning up my eating habits—minus the cookies i made last night 😂—and making it a goal to get to the gym at least 4x a week. i have to admit...i find it sooo much easier to drag my unwilling b**t to the gym if i have new gym clothes. i’ve been loving this @fabletics set—the bra is high impact so it keeps everything in place (even my d-cups 🙈) while i run + jump while the leggings have made it through some of my hardest workouts without moving an inch 🏋️‍♀️
