Let talk set point weight for a second. everyone’s body is different and the truth is everyone’s body has a different “preferred” weight that it functions best at. this is not necessarily your goal weight. so when you focus on the scale and bust your a*s to get to your goal you could be doing more harm than good. your metabolism tries to keep you at this set point weight because it is where your body thrives. my set point weight is not what my “goal weight” was. it’s higher. so i always got so discouraged trying to lose weight and having to starve myself and run miles. it’s not sustainable because your body doesn’t below there. the weight you’re at when you’re treating your body right, fuelling it with good foods and moving it daily... that should be your goal weight. honestly, just throw out your scale and focus on feeling amazing and what your body does is what it has always been meant to do. free your mind from the confines of f*****g numbers.

ever since i moved i’ve been really slacking on taking care of myself. i’ve stepped into the gym maybe twice since moving 2 months ago. honestly i stuffed my face an hour or two before the gym and i debated even going. i was so full i was sure i was going to puke everywhere at the gym. but i had already decided i had committed to trying to jump back on working on my fitness. •••
took it slow tonight with some light cardio, didn’t puke!! had to cut my workout short due to my phone dying & i can’t workout without music. ๐Ÿ™ƒ but can’t wait to get my b**t back in tomorrow. wish me luck.

i have absolutely fallen in love with my gym and everyone in it! from all of my mates i get to go with, the pts and just the randomers that give you a nod when you've done a heavy lift ๐Ÿ™Œ i was slightly dubious about what experience i was going to have, but that anxiety was short lived because after only a few short weeks i can walk through that gym with absolute confidence ๐Ÿ’ช

i pr’ed my front squat today after this and was able to keep my heart rate 90% or higher for a bit during conditioning. that’s a first!!! felt like i could have kept it there for a while too!๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

Leg day ๐Ÿ˜Š. here i am on my last set of back squats although i am going so slow you can mostly just see my legs ๐Ÿ˜

. before this i warmed up with the bar 12 reps x 2 sets. then did 10 x 30kg. the. 8 x 35kg. and here i was aiming for 8 but actually did 7 x 40kg which is a pb with this new, better (?) form. .

so i did not have to worry about dropping weight to correct my stance at all because i am moving on up nicely with a more confident posture. my knee is fine. back is fine. i’m just not very strong at this yet lol but it’ll come

. we also did some hip thrusts, abductor machine, leg press and leg extension with a brutal triple drop set ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ . .

we cut our cardio short because we are both paranoid about the corona virus and there was a spluttery wheezy guy too close in our proximity. we did walk for 30 minutes to warm up though. excellent session ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ. (other than corona guy)

Working my quads ready for skiing in a few weeks. protecting our knees for every day life is so important - i see so many people with knee replacements in my job and it makes me want to take care of my knees even more. placing the strap around the waist gives me stability to go lower and feet close - but with there being weight it gives it resistance therefore making it harder. im not a fan of squats - but this one i like

Mobility work, before any lifting. must try to minimize risk of injury as much as possible. •
pvc pipe pass throughs, lat stretches off rig, various other band stretches off of rig. i spent almost 20 minutes this morning on stretches, between upper and lower body.

Chain work ahead of heavy squats worked really well.

60kg on the bar + the proportionate weight of the 16kg chains, but more importantly, the instability and lateral control they invoke ie requiring a very linear bar path. when it came to having just plates on the bar, it felt comparatively easy!
