Doesn't this look inviting? it's not truly, as it's actually a muddy reservoir with no swimming allowed. but hey, i love the blue beauty and the rippled shoreline. does it give you tropical vibes too?

“there is no law that gods must be fair, achilles,” chiron said. “and perhaps it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another is gone. do you think?”
- madeline miller
my love for the song of achilles knows no bounds. my fingers are itching to turn the pages of that book, to tear my heart in two yet again. this story and these words feel like home, this book is a source of comfort for me. as is harry potter and the night circus 🖤
what book is a source of comfort for you?

Such a fun day! the kids could pick a activity to do so lily choose mini segways and tyler and sofia did an aerial adventure which included a 200 metre zip wire over the lake! we've also been off to the swimming pool to do the rapids and flumes. looking forward to tomorrow! #project365 #centerparcs #familyfunuk

I call this one ‘the girl without the cancer gremlin.’ 😂

minimizing is in full effect and by the looks of things about 90% of what we own we are getting rid of. yesterday i went through most of my shoes, bags, scarves and hats and realized i still have a big collection of head wear that was given to me during chemo.

i have so many mixed emotions about them...should i hold onto them just in case i need them again?

then i said scratch in the spirit of minimizing, moving on, and honoring the good memories i have with them. including all the wonderful organizations and loved ones that gifted them to me during treatment.

so what’s a girl to do?! throw on some lipstick and have a dance party and selfie extravaganza honoring all the headwear and people that kept me warm and loved!! here’s a few of those pics. most of these are then being donated to @hopescarves. these are coming to ya!

mad love to everyone who gifted me these gems, including: @egrayem @sociolinguista @stelladot @siteman_cancer_center @ameliamillion @americancancersociety @saritatita3

. let some room for negative thoughts & feelings . if you don't give them their own designated place they will spread out their tendrils all over your head . give them room to exist, acknowledge their existence, respect their right to be there . you can't get rid of them but you can be at peace with them .
. the story of today is that my almost two year old wanted to ride the nostalgic merry-go-round at our hotel . and she did . and then she wanted more . it was an early noon, the air humid and salty, sun blazing intensely . i was thirsty and tired, i didn't slept well this night . but she is too little to ride alone and so i was riding this goddamed thing with her . feeling the heat and all the feelings . the anger and the sweat running along my neck . the metallic music, squealing kids at the playground and frustration building up to a staccato in my heart and my head . my little one shouting “no !“ every time i asked her if she had enough . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
. the story of today is that among all this feelings there were this one flash of memory that came unexpectedly and was so very welcome . the truth is, growing up i also obsessively loved the old-fashioned merry-go-round at out local park . i even had my “own“ horse there . and as the carousel kept turning i found myself smiling and finally enjoying the ride . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
. this memory didn't swipe all the negative feelings and thoughts completely away . but it made it all better . the story of today is that without all the negativity, the good would not come to me . and this memory would be lost, found only on the yellowed pages of my childhood photo book .

Small chap has started taking over some of the evening watering duties...
he’s loving the vegetable plants (the cucumbers and peppers are his apparently!)

Seemingly my granny kept salt in this, but i never knew her. these things ground me to the past. things i know a little about. some things i have i know nothing about. maybe i can release those things to give be other ones space. #simplethingsmadebeautiful #smallmomentsofcalm #icanmakethechange #stuffofmyancestors #simpleandstill

Stipa sparkles, grassy glitter in the midsummer sun. not that we saw much today. if you have room for it, this giant golden oat grass (stipa gigantea) is really good value. earlier into flower than miscanthus with its feathery plumes, it’s already six foot tall in june but rather than being bulky, it’s one of those tall, diaphanous screening plants that create tantalising glimpses of what’s beyond. even if it’s only your pants on the rotary drier – but let’s pretend it’s something a bit more inviting and magical than that. though who am i to suggest you don’t have magical and inviting pants? no, *you’re* wandering from the point... stipa gigantea – needs sun to shine, and a dark background to stand out. ✨✨✨☀️✨✨✨#stipa #mystoryoflight #peninpractice #olympusuk #tostandandstare
