fun fact: seared scallops are my favorite seafood (you thought it was salmon, didn’t you? 🤣). however it’s been a hot second since i’ve made them! decided it was time to remedy that situation tonight, and prepped them my favorite way: seared in garlic ghee with lots of extra garlic 👌🏻. if you make this meal (and you totally should!), i guarantee heart eyes, happy taste buds, and stinky breath 🙊.

#whatsonmyplate: seared garlic sea scallops (pat scallops dry with paper towels *this is very important for a good sear* and season with #simplyorganicgarlic salt (or sea salt); in a pan, heat 1 tsp. avocado oil + 1 tsp. garlic ghee in a for 1 minute; add scallops and sear for 2 minutes, or until lightly brown; flip and sear on the other side for 2 mins) •• grilled broccolini w/ parmesan & red pepper 🥦 •• #cappellos garlic-sage fettuccine (toss fettuccine in olive oil, basil, sage, garlic, and parmesan).

🎉goal weight goal weight !🎉⁣

is this even real? kind of in shock at the moment .. feeling so insanely happy/excited/proud and a million other emotions. nine and a half months, 119 pounds gone! january 1st, my partner and i made a drastic change to our eating habits, we threw out all the junk and dove head first in to to the @21daymealplan.
⁣i started at 294 pounds, 2 months postpartum, with 2 under 2. no magic secret ➡️ clean food, consistent exercise, and focus on my goals. today i am 174.8. ⁣
so insanely happy to have stumbled upon @myadventuretofit (tiffany’s) instagram one night while browsing for weight loss inspiration .. and then of course her mealplan @21daymealplan. this plan has changed my life in so many ways .. and brought me so many friendships that i am so grateful for. ⁣
⁣the goals don’t stop here 🙌🏾 i am still finishing up a final round of the mealplan (currently on day 5) and i’m excited to see what november brings. ⁣

let me start with my beliefs - i've been that guy eating boiled chicken by the shopping trolly load, i've been the guy forcing down dry protein shakes on my lunch break at work and i was that man who looked for lean meats, dairy, fish and eggs to get the best sources of protein.🤦🏻‍♂️

the general public and i myself believed that if you're gonna build muscle with plants you're already at a disadvantage right? 🤷🏻‍♂️

opinions are slowly shifting and from my own experience this isn't true.

the 📚american journal of clinical nutrition recently published results of an extensive study that debunks the 'meat builds protein better' myth:

lead author kelsey mangano, phd, assistant professor of nutritional sciences at the university of massachusetts lowell, says the study delivers a message that veggie lovers can celebrate: 'as long as a person is exceeding the recommended daily allowance for protein, no matter the source in their diet, they can improve their muscle health'

which leads me to my second point - the amount of protein needed...?

the daily recommended allowance of protein for the average man is around 56g so why are people posting on forums asking how to get 300 grams of protein into a days worth of eating? -
it's completely unnecessary - worse still, its dangerous, especially if you're getting your proteins via 🥩animal products - too much animal protein has been linked with colon cancers, kidney damage and increased risk of heart disease.

protein is an old school rhetoric that marketers have been banging the drum about for years - any idea what the most profitable bodybuilding supplement on the market is today? -
you guessed it - 💵protein.

they might as well call it bro-tein cus the myths surrounding its importance are verging on bro science.

✳️bottom line: chill on the protein. i recommend getting about 100 grams per day - and if you're hitting the necessary calorie numbers you'll need to hit for bulking and you're eating a balanced plant based whole foods diet with the correct macros, you'll hit your (healthy) protein target without even having to think about it.

🍃 creamy garlic herb chicken

quick chicken recipe
this is one of the best chicken recipes! it comes together so quickly and it really is just so easy to make. no marinating, no lengthy bake time, no waiting for a grill to preheat, just pan sear it in a skillet and finish it off that rich and creamy garlic herb sauce.
~
4 (6 oz) boneless skinless chicken breasts,
salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp minced fresh garlic (3 cloves)
2 tsp all-purpose flour
1 cup milk (anything but skim)
4 oz. cream cheese, diced into small cubes
1 tsp minced fresh thyme*
1 tsp minced fresh rosemary*
1 tbsp minced fresh parsley (optional)
instructions
pound chicken evenly with the flat side of a meat mallet to 1/2-inch thickness.

heat skillet over medium-high heat then add oil.

season both chicken with salt and pepper.

place chicken in skillet and cook 6 - 7 minutes, or until golden brown on bottom, the flip and continue to cook until chicken b*****s register 165 degrees in center, about 5 - 6 minutes longer.

transfer chicken to a plate, tent with foil to keep warm.

reduce burner to medium heat and melt butter in now empty skillet.

add in garlic and saute until just lightly golden, about 20 seconds. add in flour and cook and stir constantly until just lightly golden, about 20 seconds.

while whisking pour in milk, then add in diced cream cheese, rosemary and thyme. season with a little salt and pepper to taste.

cook mixture whisking constantly to melt cream cheese, and let it come to a simmer.

return chicken to pan, spoon sauce over chicken.

sprinkle with parsley if desired and serve immediately.

First time ever having @traderjoes cauliflower gnocchi after hearing about it from the foodie community for a millennium 🙂🙂


made it per @megeatsworld instructions, basically pan sautéed and then added tjs pesto and sun dried tomato chicken sausage! ate the whole bag because duh. 🤷🏼‍♀️ also yes i ate dinner at 5pm, grandmas unite 👵🏼

Protein waffles topped with strawberry chia jam🍓🍽
🌱ingredients:
waffles:
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup water or milk of choice
1/2 tsp maple syrup
cinnamon to taste -strawberry chia jam:
1 cup of strawberries
1/2 tbsp chia seeds
lemon juice to taste
📝directions:
1. in a p*t on medium-low add sliced strawberries, a couple drops of lemon juice, and a little bit of water. cook for about 10-15 minutes and stir in chia seeds.
2. in a bowl mix together waffle ingredients and stir until well combined. then pour waffle mix into waffle maker and cook until crispy
3. top waffles with fruit, syrup, and strawberry chia jam

Lenny & larry’s can be the new ben & jerry’s if you decide to fool yourself. marketing is about manipulating your mindset. you know what’s healthy and what will allow you to reach your goals- no such thing as a “complete cookie” and “baked nutrition” that does the body good. once in a while, enjoy it of course!!! my fav is white chocolate macadamia nut. (recommend buying the 200 calorie package rather than the 400 to avoid the overindulgence)

Gesunde quinoa-biskuitrolle 😍😍
die liebe @sabine.h verzaubert uns heute wieder mal mit ihren herrlichen backkünsten. 🙌😋
der beste beweis: auch wer sich dauerhaft gesund ernährt, kann naschen! 😉☝
für die gesunde biskuitrolle brauchst du: ▪ 15 g quinoa/amaranth gepufft
▪ 15 g flohsamenschalen
▪ 20 g roc-sports bio vanilleprotein
▪ 10 g mandelmehl (oder auch dinkelmehl)
▪ 1 ganzes ei + 1 eiweiss
▪ 90 g naturjoghurt
▪ 1 tl backpulver
▪ etwas süße
und so geht’s: alle zutaten zu einem teig vermengen (mit einem esslöffel), dann rechteckig auf ein backpapier streichen und für etwa 12-15 min. bei 180°c backen. danach umgedreht auf ein küchentuch stürzen, mit kalten wasser beträufeln (damit löst sich das papier leichter) und abziehen. beliebig bestreichen (joghurt, früchte, pudding, ...) und mit dem küchentuch einrollen.
fertig! 😍🍴
