On a glorious sunny winters day, what could be better than a bowl of superfoods?
this bowl is filled with delicious, healthy goodness; a perfect start to a busy day.
buckwheat porridge with flaxseed, vanilla and almond milk, topped with banana, blueberries and chia seeds ๐Ÿ˜‹

i soaked the buckwheat overnight so it cooked much quicker this morning. recipe below serves 4. .

1 cup buckwheat soaked in water overnight
2 cups almond milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 bananas
1.5 cup of blueberries, defrosted
4 tbsp ground flaxseed
4 tbsp chia seeds
method: * drain & rinse the buckwheat
* add to a saucepan with the milk and vanilla, cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until you have a loose porridge consistency * divide porridge into bowls and top with blueberries, bananas, chia seeds and flax seed

We can all use some help when it comes to staying healthy. even with the best diets...there are germs out there lurking... so.... wellness roller recipe:

10 drops thieves + 5 drops oregano + 5 drops frankincense

add all eos to 10ml glass roller bottle and fill with liquid carrier oil (i use coconut). apply to spine daily to keep immune system happy. apply every 3 hours when youre not feeling so hot ๐Ÿ’ช

plant based ๐ŸŒฟ vegan ๐ŸŒฑ gluten free ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿป‍โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒพ. ๐ŸŒฟ
my 10 yr old step daughter helped with dinner tonight so i can’t take full credit #cookingwithkids and hubs made the salad ๐Ÿฅ—#cookingwithfamily. so this all came together quite easily. yay us! our daughter has been somewhat picky lately so i truly believe this helped her actually finish her meal, plus i had help with dinner. aaaannnnd, it helps her feel more confident in the kitchen. #winwin. i’m hoping this means she’ll be making dinner more often (#onecandream ). ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿณ she made up the base, with seasonings and yellow onion, i added the #ricenooddles and veg. ๐ŸŒฟ
on the plate:
sauté a small to medium chopped yellow onion with good glugs of soy sauce (tamari for #glutenfree), some vegan butter, good amount of granulated garlic, s&p. once onions are translucent add chopped hungarian peppers, bok choy and suey choy. put lid on pan and turn heat up a little to steam/wilt veg. ๐Ÿš
meanwhile cook 4 or 5 pucks of rice noodles in boiling water (we like @lotusfoods organic millet and brown rice ramen noodles). after about 3 mins of boiling noodles separate with a fork and transfer over to pan with veg. stir through and cover again until veg are done to your liking and “sauce” is incorporated through. ๐Ÿงš๐Ÿป‍โ™€๏ธ
serve with a nice big green salad ๐Ÿฅ— this one is romaine, yellow pepper, grape tomatoes ๐Ÿ… and cucumber ๐Ÿฅ’ with our fave @threediamonddressing.
๐ŸŒฑ ๐Ÿ˜‹ we go through about one cucumber a day in this house. anyone else? my attempt to grow cucumbers this year resulted in two small ones, i need to really figure out how to grow a ton of them next year as well as successful tomato and pepper plants! ๐Ÿฅ’ ๐Ÿ… ๐ŸŒถ

Part 3: you never know what color or texture it will be from day to day, but hey! as long as the family will drink it, it’s a win/win! i wanted to share some info/tips on the ingredients i use. starting at the beginning...๐Ÿƒspinach is my go to green, and is the most mellow tasting. you can freeze your greens before they start to go bad. that’s especially nice when you can’t quite get through the ginormous bags of greens from costco! just lay them out flat in the bag, in the freezer, and take out only what you need since they are total mush when they unthaw. and they unthaw fast! if you do use frozen greens it’s a good idea to let the ingredients sit a while in the water before the first blend so they won’t freeze up. ๐Ÿƒsince greens are the most nutrient dense foods on earth, and because no one wants to drink straight greens every morning, i add raw green powder to jack up the nutrition content. i love the perfect food by garden of life because the variety of vegetables and fruits in there is crazy awesome! and that is how we “eat the rainbow” with this smoothie. it’s cheapest on vitacost or amazon. i buy the big container (600 g) and it lasts forever. but any high quality greens will do! ๐Ÿƒmentabiotics is 4 products in one. it contains probiotics which unique strains help grow the happy chemicals in your gut (serotonin, etc), as well as prebiotics, phytobiotics, and a digestive performance blend that helps support and heal the tissues in the gut lining. it’s good to take a broad range of probiotics, rotating every other day or so between 2-4 different brands. and with this one in the rotation i know i’m supporting their mood and mental wellness every day. you can order this through me. ๐Ÿƒhealthy fats are critical for a healthy brain, as well as a whole lot of other functions in the body. i like to rotate through chia, hemp, and flax. h**p and flax can change the taste of the smoothie, where chia, like the spinach, is the most mellow. ๐Ÿ™Œokay friends, tomorrow we’ll finish up with the rest of the ingredients. sending lots of โค๏ธlove and ๐Ÿƒsmoothie magic your way!!!

What can i do to treat myself today? i can be a workaholic and need to make sure i take time every day to relax and look after myself. ive started to do more yoga and loving it, i feel like i'm "doing" and achieving while relaxing and treating my body well #feelsgoodman a good way in to meditation too which i don't do enough of ๐Ÿ˜Š

Last nights dinner was seriously fantastic! tried a new fondue method with great northern beans as the star! ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ i was hoping for a smoked, herb gouda and it turned out perfect! blanched some broccoli๐ŸŒณ, air fried potatoes๐Ÿฅ”, steamed seitan, toasted bread ๐Ÿžand crisp granny smith apples๐Ÿ! ๐Ÿ˜‹

My go to bath soak at the moment now that i'm able to take baths again! half a cup of epsom salt or sea salt and 3 tablespoons powdered ginger and two drops clary sage in a warm bath 2 help my body heal soakaway any discomfort or stress and ground myself!

Pasta has to be one of our favourite dishes. there's something so comforting about a big pile of pasta a yummy sauce.
this is my alfredo pasta dish with mushrooms, peas, spinach and broccoli. the sauce is so simple, it has to be perfect. i've spent a lot of time getting it right and i think i've cracked it. its creamy and has depth of flavour without the dairy or meat stock!
i'm excited to add this to my pasta cookery class, along with a pesto and an italian sauce. which would you try first?
