Love that my oldest asked to borrow this shirt of mine to wear to school today... and of course i had to make sure she understood completely what the shirt meant ✊🏽🌿

We got our first frost here @bellbrookfarm last night and most of the tender herbs and flowers said their goodbyes. i got a few big harvests in this past week but many of the hardier culinary herbs stuck around knowing they would be starting their second life as additions to stews, bone broth and the big batch of pickles being made this evening. lavender lemongrass carrots anyone? this garden has provided so much this year and i will be doing a little gratitude ceremony soon to thank the garden and earth for her gifts.

So, here it is guys! the recipe for my fire tonic as i like to call it.
the quantities are approximate, as i eye measure along the way. feel free to play with the recipe and adjust it to suit you. i try to use as many local ingredients as possible, but i compromise this rule for ginger and turmeric's sake. i just can’t imagine #firecider without these two, but if you want to skip them, again feel free. in general, just feel free and do as you like 😊 the recipe is just for rough guidance and to inspire your own imagination and creativity! two points i have to insist on though, is 1.make sure all ingredients are organic, aka pesticide free, and 2.chop everything by hand instead on using a processor. trust me, it matters 😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* * fire tonic * *

2-3 onions peeled&chopped
1 garlic head peeled&chopped
1-2 handful turmeric root peeled&choppef
1-2 handful ginger root peeled&chopped
10 cayenne peppers or any other hot peppers finely chopped (make sure you are wearing gloves for this and don’t touch your face- i speak from experience ;) )
1 cinnamon stick
2 lemons sliced
1 orange sliced
2 handfuls of finely chopped fresh herbs ( oregano, marjoram, thyme, rosemary, sage, nettle, parsley, cilantro, calendula) if you don’t have any fresh herbs, you can use 1 handful of dried plant instead.
just place everything in a glass jar, and fill with apple cider vinegar till the top of the jar and that solids are completely covered. stir it to remove any air bubbles. place the lid on the jar (if it’s a metallic lid then better place a piece of parchment paper between the jar and the lid). place in a cupboard for 6 weeks, and occasionally take it out to give it a shake. when you decide its ready, use a clean cloth to strain it- squeeze well. mix the liquid with honey-i really can’t tell you how much honey to add, it depends on how you like it, just taste and add accordingly but the minimum i would go for would be 1 part honey to 4 parts liquid. that’s it! bottle it and share it with friends and family and use it within a year.
enjoy making your own #immunitybooster and #ownyourhealth 🔥 #freefirecider ⠀⠀

It's that time of year again when germs attack me. i'm usually pretty good at fighting them off but, self-induced stress has weakened me. stomach stuff sucks, especially since i love eating and am about to get on a plane in a few days and will be eating things other people cook for me (my favorite kind of food) when i land. but, now's also the perfect time because i've been harvesting and drying all the herbs in both mine and my mother's gardens.
my no-fail tummy fixer is a tea i make from equal parts dried boldo, citron, fennel, st. john's wort and cassia - 5 tbsp in one liter of water, boiled for 5 minutes. i add honey but, it tastes good on its own. two mug-fulls for 2 days is all i tyically need to feel better. 🌿

Sometimes when we're feeling sad, it's important just to feel the sadness. like a snake shedding its skin, old feelings of remorse and regret and hurt and anger often have to come up in order to be released. on the other side we're a better person, capable of a happier life...who we are when we're no longer burdened by the buried feelings that weighed us down, or the self - defeating patterns that the pain produced. marianne williamson | art by markus drassl

I’m having a bad trip today. .
this is what tez and i call it when we are out of alignment and let me tell you, i’m faaaaar off. i feel like the person i’ve been most of my life whether it was openly or on the inside. disconnected. pessimistic. everything annoys me. i’m tired af, my body doesn’t feel right. i feel zero excitement or motivation. the world feels like a scary place. tez is loving me up as always but i can barely feel it. it’s been like this for a few days. .
he asked me if i was thinking ‘i should know better by now’ and to my delight i realized - i don’t, because i do know better. i do know better than to berate myself when i fall from my center. i do know better because - now i know this is not my natural state and i know better because i no longer think our mental & emotional well being is out of our hands and i am now once again at the mercy of these lower vibrational energies. while we can’t and shouldn’t want to micromanage our emotions and our alignment - we can manage them. we do have control, overall, of how we think, feel, and act. and that going out of alignment with your true state of being is only a catalyst for refining your alignment, ultimately. .
we have had an incredible shaman visiting and serving many healings in our house, and being in the presence of someone so christ-like in their energy, meaning pure love, will bring everything that is not love to the surface to be exposed and dealt with. an exorcism of sorts - and it’s preparing us for the medicine ceremony we are doing this weekend. .
while it’s very uncomfortable being where i am at now, i’d rather deal with it all head on than to have this linger in my frequency for the rest of my life. we realized for both of us it had been at least 6 months since feeling this way and we understand it’s part of the shooting up, the further you pull back in contrast the higher you shoot up into the light. x imaya

This week was one of the most stressful, saddest, and devastating weeks i’ve ever had in such a long time... trying to keep it together and be on top of all my obligations and engagements was really overwhelming and gut-wrenching! how do you function when you’re physically, mentally and emotionally in a million different pieces? when you can’t breathe because it hurts too much from crying... and you just want to surrender and give up?
well, i learned that you just get up and put one foot in front of the other...not because you’re okay... but because nobody else will do it for you... and that there is always a choice to find the light in every darkness!!
today, i feel so grateful!
for everyone who has given me their support...
everyone who has shown me love and light...
and for everyone who just showed up and shared such beautiful and good energy at our event today.
you have no idea!! 💙
thank you for letting me cook for you and letting me share one of the most important things in my life— food and cooking 🙏🏼

The finished product ...
homemade rosehip syrup ,which i have to say tastes absolutely delicious 😋 such a delicious way to add an extra vit c boost during those winter months 🙌✌️
i used coconut sugar as it was all i had so it has probably turned out a little darker than it should.
this recipe was in james wongs grow your own drugs book and so simple to make.
i did add a cinnamon stick as suggested along with a couple of cloves which has added a real warming feeling and don’t we all want a bit of extra comfort in the winter🤗
250g fresh rosehips
5 cloves (optional)
1 cinnamon stick (optional)
500ml water
125g sugar (approx)
crush rosehips slightly and add to a pan with cloves and cinnamon then add the water.
simmer uncovered for 20 mins (i think i did this for longer)
strain then add the same amount of sugar as there is liquid approx 125g.
stir until dissolved and bring to the boil, then simmer again - 10 mins .
cool and filter into small bottles.
smaller bottles are preferable as will only keep for one week once opened in the fridge . if unopened it will keep for up to a year.
as suggested in the book great to add over pancakes, ice creams or add to water and drink as a cordial .

It’s sunday night, and i am taking myself off technology for the night.

i’m going to brew a cup of sleepy-time herbal tea, put some essential oils on (frankincense, lavender + ylang ylang are my choices - soothing, third eye opening, grounding and heart opening). i’ll grab my pen and journal and allow ‘boredom’ to set in to see what arises.

thank you for the reminder @humaning_with_jen 🙏🏻 every sunday afternoon (qld time) jen offers beautiful card readings - you pick from her deck and she pulls you a card. we have had a fun few weeks watching the cards unfold for me, and today was a reminder to stop being ‘busy’ so i am off to embrace the dullness + see what comes up. go follow her so you can tap into jen’s beautiful sunday offering.

we have to slow down, turn off and create quiet in order to truly tune in and hear what is wanting to come up for us, whether it is an idea, inspiration or direction....it is actually really healthy for us to be bored - many creative ideas and art come directly from this space!
