A day at the gym with me😝i’ve included what i did for my workout today (below) if interested. but 1st, i had the extra time (1 hr 25 min workout) because phase 2 of house renovations started this morning! new handyman. fired the last one!! taking out the ugly, old 1980s style fluorescent lighting on kitchen ceiling and adding 8 new recess lights on a dimmer. also some baseboard and trim updates. the rest of the projects need to wait until i can budget them but this is a great start to making this house mine♥️okay - workout deets below🤗 .
➡️dynamic warmup w/glute activation banded exercises (forward & side leg swings, standing glute kickbacks, squats, lunges, lateral walk, side steps, ankle jumping jacks) .
➡️3 sets of:
•shoulder press (20 lb dumbbells x6)
•side bends (35 lb plate x6)
•bicep curls (30 lb barbell x10)
•skater lunges (12 per leg)
•oblique twists (12 lb ball/12 per side) .
➡️2 sets of:
•single leg deadlifts (30 lbs 8 per leg) •”concentration” bicep curls (20 lbs 6 per side) •overhead shoulder press (30 lbs x10)

all i had time for + a 10 min stretch: calves, hamstrings, it band, bi & tri stretch, plank to chatarunga, upward dog to downward dog and pedaling heels to stretch calves, runners lunge, low lunge to stretch hip flexor, quad and hamstring stretch in lunge position, pigeon pose and repeat on other side. end w/reclined cow face pose to stretch glutes & piriformis and call it day🙌🏻

Healthy coleslaw, i got this recipe from ifoodreal.com

ingredients:
1 small bag of coleslaw (about 6 cups)

healthy coleslaw dressing:
3/4 cup of plain greek yogurt
2 tsp of vinegar
2 tsp of lime or lemon juice
1 tbsp of maple syrup or honey
3/4 tsp of salt
ground black pepper to taste

directions
in a small bowl wisk dressing ingredients.
if serving immediately, in a large bowl, add coleslaw mix and pour dressing over, toss and let sit for 5 minutes.
to keep it fresh, store the dressing separately in the fridge for 3-4 days and add to your coleslaw mix before eating.

Just a bit of my meal prep for this week. i made my own version of a cowgirl turkey burger and a side of healthy coleslaw. not to toot my own horn but these burgers turned out to be a hit!!! definitely my new favorite. want the recipe? 👇👇👇(i will be posting the recipe of the healthy coleslaw in my next post)

cowgirl turkey burgers

ingredients:
1 pack of ground turkey
1/4 cup of cheddar cheese
1/4 cup of green onions
1/2 cup of red peppers
1tbps of mustard
1/3 cup of bread crumbs(i used italian seasoned)
1 tbsp of worcestershire sauce
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of crushed red pepper(optional for a little spicy kick)

directions:
mix all ingredients together in a bowl. divide in 4 patties and let rest for ten minutes.
cook on grill for about 4-6 minutes or until cooked.

i haven’t been super motivated to go to the gym. i’m thriving in the kitchen, but i’ve had this membership since black friday and today is my second time going(but in my defense, i have been practicing yoga at home). after hearing the news about kobe bryant, i went to the gym. why? because you’re not going to be great by sitting around and wishing that things were better. you become great with hard work and lots of self-discipline. so today i’m committing to be great every single day(or at least a little better than the day before). life is too short, make it worth it, and do things that make you happy.

Surround yourself with determined people & they will make you feel like anything is possible

before hiring a coach i did a lot of thinking & research.
i was certain i wanted someone local so i then took the time necessary to look up coaches available in my area. i looked at their client progress, coach to client ratio, & asked for consultation. almost like an interview. if i was going to invest; i wanted the best in my area.
