Well put by @iwannaburnfat ! we eat food to fuel physical activity and life. but in this day and age, it's no longer realistic to look at food solely as fuel for the body. food is also part of most cultures and your social life [1]. to put it in technical terms, we eat food for physiological, but also psychosocial reasons [2, 3].

now, you've probably heard about the saying: "the best diet is the one you can stick to" before. this holds truth. dietary adherence is the most important factor for achieving f*t loss [4]. if you can't stick to your diet, you won't be able to achieve results from it.

considering psychosocial factors in your life (like time availability, stress, social life, career etc.) is critical when trying to design a sustainable f*t loss diet. this also immediately explains why there's no universal "best diet." a nutrition approach that's sustainable for you may sound horrible for someone in a different environment.

all in all, a diet that respects your physiological needs, allows you to work towards your fitness goals, and fits into your current lifestyle, is the right way of eating for you.

What can be better then having your favourite foods on the regular basics, enjoying them to the fullest and knowing how to prepare them on a different ways?

for me knowing that with those foods i am taking care of my body and also nourishing my soul. if i am totally honest, i don't know when did healthy treasures from the nature became my favourite ones. i gues it came with all the knowledge i've gotten about the food, hormones and body in general.
