a great way to incorporate contraction in what i call “the golf sling” otherwise known as the posterior-oblique sling.

the posterior oblique sling is a cross-body pattern comprised of the gluteus maximus, thoracolumbar fascia (tlf) and contralateral latissimus dorsi muscle, which connects the shoulder with the opposite hip to facilitate locomotion.

archwin is first, during a priming stability stance, activating his lat through a pull motion, then loading his contralateral glute.

you might be asking, why not have him lunge, then rotate, like you see everyone else doing?

his limitations is in his upper body strength. when you lunge prior to rotation, it is harder to create a full upper body contraction, thus limiting upper body involvement.

the very thought of showing my face and talking on camera scared the absolute s**t out of me. 🤮⁠⠀

i was so worried about what people would think of me or what i looked like that it stopped me from showing up but i knew in order for my audience and my business to grow, i had to.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
for my whole life speaking in front of people has been a massive fear of mine next to lives (my heart literally beats through my chest and i freeze) and i knew the only way to overcome them was to face them. i did some pretty extreme personal development to help push me way outside my comfort zones which definitely helped but it's not for the faint of heart. 😬⁠⠀

i also practiced speaking on camera every single day which helped tremendously. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
while i'm still s**t scared of public speaking i know i can do it if i really want to and lives are a piece of cake now - the key is to feel the fear and do it anyway. ⁠⠀

you see i knew that in order for my audience to know me, and for me to build the like and trust factor with them, i had to show up daily as me.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
when i realised that i am literally speaking to the camera like i was a friend and offering my support/advice everything became so much easier.⁠⠀

while some days it takes 20 takes and others 1, which is really f*****g annoying by the way lol, i get it done. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
i started by showing up on my stories for 7 days and kept going because with consistent practice i became better at speaking to the camera and also getting over my own limiting beliefs that were ultimately stopping me from growing both personally and in business. 💥⁠⠀

This picture captures more than i can put into words.⁣

saturday into sunday i completed 24 hero workouts, solo, in 24 hours. in total this added up to:⁣
20.56 miles of running⁣
368 burpees⁣
336 cleans/snatches⁣
240 box jumps⁣
328 deadlifts⁣
421 pull-ups⁣
445 push-ups/hspu⁣
323 thrusters⁣
47 rope climbs⁣
855 total squats⁣
and much more with no sleep in the freezing cold.⁣

in this photo, i was in a bad place and wanted to quit. i couldn’t get ahead and had been working for 2.5 hours straight. i was on the verge of breaking down and could barely keep tears out of my eyes.⁣

then my friends started showing up. the other people there with me lifted me up. i had @mans_not_scott setting up and breaking down my equipment.⁣

his teammates @calt19 and @pammyherter cheered for me all night on every workout while pushing through themselves.⁣

my boys @cmscutti and @richy_santanna kept my head up. hell, @gulla7510 said he’d jump in on 2 workouts and stuck around for 24.⁣

most importantly, my amazing fiancé @julia_lesure stuck by my side the entire night. after this photo was taken i went up to her, almost in tears, because my body was breaking down and i knew i wouldn’t finish this workout in the hour. i told her i didn’t know what to do.⁣

she kept my head up and helped me figure out a plan for every workout, one at a time, until i finished. all while freezing her a*s off with the rest of us.⁣

to everyone who came out to support, who messaged me, who donated to the cause, thank you. there aren’t enough words to express how i feel ❤️⁣

Day 75/ #75hard 2.0 . today honoring the veterans with a 20 pound vest .

i started this journey in march 6th . i finished my first 75hard on june and immediately started phase 1 which i failed in day 22. i restarted it and then i was in my 30 days mandatory rest prior to phase 2 , when @andyfrisella invited us to restart 75hard to support @darryljoyjohnson . .
i read three books in this term :

- become supernatural by @drjoedispenza ( read for second time) . best book i’ve ever read.
.
-relentless by @attackathletics ( second time also) which sharpen your mental toughness.

- the alchemist by @paulocoelho . mystical book with real messages.
.
the most important aspects i learned in this time are discipline, confidence and gratitude. yes, gratitude. doing workouts outside made me realize of all the things we have around and we take it from granted. the air i breathe, the water , the sun , the rain , the trees, etc. .

Sometimes we need reminders of how far we’ve come to appreciate and accept the journey
(2017 vs 2019 )in today’s workout my s***y @jazminedalisa said to me “you need to stop” your self-deprecating attitude towards your body. for me i don’t see what y’all see at times i see what needs improvements that’s just the competitive athlete in me. but i do realize moving forward i’ve come so so so far and not to be so h*****n myself. i can admit i was sad losing that 3 weeks b/c of my concussion but then i realized it was supposed to happen that way and forcing me to sit tf down and relax. i’m so humbled to have a coach like @kdwitthemuscle to help guide me along my journey. look at how far we’ve come and it’s only going to go up from here. my back and glutes look incredible so today i’m just patting myself on the back like your season isn’t over candice, it’s only just begun. i’m excited to see what we come up with in 2020. • #bmoorebuddhafit

It’s time to take it up a notch. i’ve got 3 months left to devote my time towards a proper off-season. i’m only 138 lbs @ 5’4, sitting about 13lbs above last years stage weight 🦐😋. we’re pushing the carbohydrate split pretty aggressively moving forward - 3505 calories, 106 grams of f*t (27%), 506 grams of carbohydrates (56%), and 152 grams of protein (17%). 2 / 6 meals are shakes, real food - zero artificial/processed protein/gainers. optimal digestion is key. i currently do zero cardio. i train 5 days a week and take two rest days, prioritizing my recovery. my rep ranges are between 8 - 12 & 15 - 20+ on average. i also place a great deal of significance on other therapeutic modalities, focusing on both physical limitations and mental barriers. 🧠👀 i’m learning the insight, tools and strategies needed to gain control and optimize my personal performance. serious athletes train both their bodies and their minds for peak performance. i will conquer my f*cking anxiety. you can make d**n sure i’ll be under pressure and on demand. ✊ #mentaltoughness #championmindset #sportspsychology #mentalhealthmatters

they love staying in a warm bed, or having a hot shower, or having conveniences that are often taken for granted. ⁣

Most people believe that it just takes more willpower to be good at something. 🤷🤷 i get it.

you've always been told you just need to be "more disciplined" to get to your goals.

but if that were true, only disciplined people would succeed and we know that's not the case.

the people that succeed all possess 1 quality in common.

mental toughness.

it's having the psychological edge that allows one to perform at peak maximum effort and efficiency during the demands that are placed on them during training, practice, or competition.

specifically, when the demands are greatest or the conditions become adverse.

because most of us can perform well when the conditions are perfect.

few of us really know how to perform when things get tough. (**and that's why so many people fall off the health & fitness wagon over time.) the best part about mental toughness?

it's is not an inborn dna trait, but one that is developed over time and exposure to adverse conditions. so it can be learned.

It's easy to be thankful for winning! i mean, who doesn't like winning?! but what do you do when you lose? do you complain, make excuses, or blame others for the result? it can be easy to fall into that trap! don't get me wrong, i personally hate losing!!! winning is fun and i fully believe in doing your best, striving for excellence, and not settling for less!!! but despite the sting of losing, it's actually an opportunity for growth ... growing in character, mental toughness, personal performance, etc! ⠀

Dr. lakeitha poole is the founder of small talk counseling & consulting and serves as the director of student-athlete mental health for the lsu athletic department’s sport psychology & counseling. she was the first african american woman to serve in this capacity in the southeastern conference (sec). as a licensed professional counselor and board approved clinical supervisor (lpc-s) she works individually with student-athletes to overcome emotional disorders, sport & career-related issues, addiction, dysfunctional eating, relational conflicts, and more. she also works with teams to create mental skills training and team building plans to increase cohesion and strengthen overall performance; and supports administrators, coaches, and athletic department staff in managing their roles in the lives of their players to enhance personal and professional mental health and wellness. a graduate of florida state university, lsu, and regent university, dr. poole’s research emphases include mental health and wellness techniques among college students, vulnerability and resilience in domestic marginalized populations, and family systems. dr. poole also serves as an adjunct instructor in the lsu college of human sciences & education, and is a board member for the baranco-clark ymca in old south baton rouge. she has served individuals, professional organizations, and athletic sports teams across the country for the last seven years with her practice being built upon erasing mental health stigma, authenticity, and personalized care. ⁠

Do you know what separates the elite performers vs the average ?

alot of people still believe that the most motivated are usually the ones that win
but in most cases this is true... motivation can swing up and down so when you are not feeling motivated is the habits and rituals that you have that push you through. your daily routine will depend the quality of our lives ... here is a daily routine of entrepreneur millionaire @edmylett
he has outline some habit and rituals that have got him we're he is at today .

i have been applying some of then and i can only say that i have never felt more amazing when i'm laying down in bed and just happy about how the day turned out.

millionaire habits
1) getting up early -
when you wake up early you have more time to think and work more productively instead of playing catch up all day ..

2) hydration- maintaining the amount of water all throughout your day will support you with more energy than drinking a b**g or any other pre work out out there ... especially when you first wake up make sure the first thing you do is drink i down 16 oz water bottle then i drink another 16 oz within the next 5-10 minutes .
.
3) cold morning warn nights- i know alot of people that are terrified of cold water and don't see themselves doing but taking a cold shower in the mornings as you wake up is kinda like you having 1000 motivational speakers running through your body you will feel great energy for the day and this has amazing health benefits go look at that for yourself also i have post about cold showers. and warm showers at night to prepare me for a goodnight sleep 😴

4) do some quick breathing or stretching -
i do something called the wim hof technique this if you don't know what this is you'll be amazed when you find out what it is ...
i also do some stretches every morning to unstiff my body from sleeping.

And that’s a wrap on addi’s 2nd competitive season!!! last night she competed her little heart out as it was her last chance to make states & her move up score. she accomplished a new personal best on beam (9.25) and level 4 bars (7.9). she also didn’t fall on bars and you could hear our team’s parents/grandparents cheering for her after she stuck the landing. unfortunately, scoring on vault and floor was tough and she didn’t make states. there were a lot of tears from her on the other side of the gym and a lot of comforting from teammates and hugs from her coaches and they were able to cheer her up so so the night ended in smiles, silliness, and dancing in the end.
.
she ended up with 5th on beam, 8th on floor, and 9aa and 2nd place team banner! it may not be much to some but we’re all so incredibly proud of her for all the hard work she’s put in this past year and how much she’s accomplished since starting gymnastics for the first time 2.5 years ago. .
.
this morning she woke up excited to get back in the gym to start training for next season and wanting to have an even better level 4 season next fall. her resilience never ceases to amaze me! .

Something i work on daily! this is not about being hardcore, this about showing up in your life and being authentic and true to yourself so you can serve in the way you were meant to! this is what it means to me anyway!
there are many ways we can practice and implement this into our lives! i use this daily through my yoga practice and then in every opportunity i get off the mat.
there are four main skills i use to practice this.
they are called the big 4!
1. breath
2. visualisation
3. micro goals
4. positive self talk
i used these four skills to get me through some of the hardest physical training i have ever done, including smashing out burpees for 24 hours with a kick arse team( all for our vets)
and completing a 56 hour crucible where i was pushed to my physical limits.
we can make any situation we are in a pleasant one or a s**t one! the choice is 100% up to you.

To deal with life and all its challenges, we need to build up our mental toughness and resilience. change, setbacks and challenges are inevitable and as hard as it sounds, sometimes we just have to toughen up! to live a a happy, successful and fulfilled life means we must learn how to bounce back after experiencing some of life's many setbacks. here are my favorite things to remember when life throws me a curve ball 🏀
1️⃣ look for opportunities for self discovery.
2️⃣ be objective and don’t exaggerate your experience.
3️⃣ focus on the positive.

B o d y - i m a g e - p a r t - 2

so last week i posted about body image with a pic attached to it that most people will relate to being me. an image that most see me as and one that is more of a reflection of what i look like these days even though there are many many things i would change about the person in that said image.

however that being said, the truth, and why i find body image so interesting, is that it’s more than just how you look; it’s actually more about how you feel… i see myself, and relate much more with this image of myself far far more than the previous
-
now this is not about a sob story as i’ve always been a ‘happy chap’, nor is it a; ‘oh look how awesome i am’, i know i’m not; i have plenty of flaws, i am human after all .
-
however, i wanted to write a part 2 because so many people come though the doors of gyms, crossfit boxes and fitness studios alike with low self esteem and say, “looking like you do, you won’t understand”; oh trust me we do.
-
anyone who is involved in the fitness industry worth listening to has been where you are at some point. maybe with a different issue… they were small and bullied, they were f*t and bullied, they never felt good enough, there was too much expected of them, they weren’t taken seriously… the list is endless and well we are all individuals and s*#t like that affects us all in different ways.
-
the biggest change that i have seen in myself, has been mentally, and mostly in the 2 years since opening my own business.
-
it’s forced me to be more self reflective, which in turn has helped me realise that it’s not about how i look, as that is largely governed by how i feel, and looking the way i look is just a by product of that.

@therapywithnaomi posted about balance in relationships the other day and it resonated with me and my relationship with food and exercise. now, do i have it right… no, but it’s not about having the perfect balance all the time, it’s about the ebb and flow of it.

my message to you all, is slow the f*#k down, find the quality over quantity in all things.
