Accumulate 8 minutes in a plank

every time you break perform:
12 air squats
12 pushups
12 alternating db curl and press (6 each arm)

💥don’t let today’s workout fool you! it’s full of volume and loaded with spice!

today we're accumulating 8 minutes in a standard plank position.  here's the twist:  every time you rest from the plank, perform 12 air squats, 12 push-ups and 12 dumbbell curl and press (6 each arm).

when you're done, drop back into that plank and keep chipping away at that 8 minutes.
.
go for a big as long as you can on that first plank because it's only going to get harder to hold as you go!

When i called to make my appointment to get my haircut.

it was too easy. the had appts that day.
.
i wasn’t surprised to find the person cutting my hair was brand new.
.
and well it got cut .....twice.
.
the first time it didn’t come out as expected.
.
not the first time a haircut hasn’t come out as expected but the first time i ever said anything.
.
as the second round of my haircut proceeded, hair was flying everywhere.
.
i was starting to looking like mustafa from the lion 🦁 king.
.
i just kept telling myself: a- it’s hair, it grows back and b - this is going to work out for the best.
.
well - this is probably one of my best haircuts 💇 .

never underestimate the power of positive thinking.

6 months ago i could’ve never imagined waking up at 4am every morning to workout. now, i can’t imagine not. it is my happy place and the best part of my day. it is a place where i can challenge myself and work together with some awesome people to achieve one common goal, to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. if you’ve been wanting to start your fitness journey, stop saying “tomorrow” and start today. i promise you will not regret it and you’ll look back and ask yourself why didn’t i start sooner. .

Food ☕️🍞🍉🍓🍤🍚🍪

i’ve had a lot of questions recently about what foods i eat, how i track my macros, etc. so i decided to do a food diary of what i ate yesterday. i track everything using the myfitnesspal app. this app is amazing and makes tracking super simple. here’s a look at my day:

1️⃣ pre-workout: i’m a morning workout person. i wake up at 5:15am each weekday. i cannot eat before working out (makes me feel sick), but i need a little pick-me-up, so i always mix bottled starbucks iced coffee with caramel premier protein and drink it on the way to the gym.-
2️⃣ breakfast: once i’m done at the gym and at work i’ll eat a proper breakfast. yesterday that was two slices of dave’s killer raisin bread and a grande whole milk latte with an added packet of stevia.-
3️⃣ snack #1: vanilla greek yogurt + strawberries.-
4️⃣ lunch: 3oz costco rotisserie chicken b****t + baked sweet potato + peas. i also always snag some extra sauces when we go to cfa and keep those at work for when i bring chicken.-
5️⃣ snack #2: carb balance wheat tortilla + balanced breaks snack tray. i know the tortilla seems random. 😂 but just one of these carb balance tortillas has 10g of fiber, so i eat them for that reason.-
6️⃣ snack #3: watermelon (can y’all tell i love snacks??).-
7️⃣ snack #4 (🙈): do y’all follow @themacrobarista? if not, you need to! he posted this salted caramel cold brew over the weekend, so my daughter and i had our tuesday afternoon girls’ date at starbucks so i could try it. delicious! (and yes, i’m addicted to snacks and coffee. 🤷🏻‍♀️)-
8️⃣ dinner: baked salmon filet (i get these at costco and they are delicious. they are individually packaged and frozen. you just pop ‘em onto a baking sheet and into the oven.) + riced vegetable medley.-
9️⃣ dessert: chocolate chip brownie brittle (i got this at costco and it’s surprisingly macro-friendly!).-

i’ve also posted what my food diary looks like in mfp at the end of the day. i try to stay within +/- 5 of each macro, but obviously some days are better than others. hope y’all found this helpful! 😄

The game has been changed since i found out how easy tostada shells were. literally 8-10 mins in the oven at 400 on an aluminum foil lined baking sheet. you only need a dime size drop of oil on the baking sheet for each corn tortilla. spin them on either side to coat the tortilla, and bake. salt prior to baking.

sautéed chopped chicken thighs, onion, and green peppers. spicy black beans, and of course cheese. dab of salsa and hot sauce. on a corn tortilla tostada shell.

When workouts are very strenuous, exceed 90 minutes or take place first thing in the morning, i always recommend a workout shake. my favorite combo is lemonade, orange creamsicle protein and creatine. gives me the fast carbs i need to keep my energy up during my training! #nofastedtraining #fnx @fnx_fit
