3 tips for increasing metabolism 🔥🔥

Contrary to popular belief, muscle and strength gains are not made in the gym, the gym simply provides the stimulus for your body to grow. real gains are made with your nutrition. 💪🏻💪🏻
i am travelling today for 3 days and that means no gym and no friday legday. so instead trained legs yesterday.
did an amazing quad focused sesh and god, it was brutal.
i literally couldn’t wait to get home and eat this. sheer heaven.💕🌈

i am still learning things as i go. i firmly believe things can be hard but not impossible. honestly, it takes courage to be different and do anything out of your comfort zone. i feel you when i say this, i have been there too...shy, afraid of being judged, not being able sharing my opinions, feeling left out and lost. well, life is a best teacher. we all learn, grow and progress as we go. self confidence comes from self belief, unless you believe in yourself how can you expect others to believe in you.

1) focusing on form, and not weight. this means starting light and gradually increasing the weight over time while heavily focusing on technique.
2) sticking with your routine and not skipping any days is another major key when it comes to working out. the best way to not skip any days is to have a gym buddy which will help you or your buddy get to the gym and make progress.
3) the last tip is to listen to your body. if a certain area on your body is feeling awfully sore, try modifiying the exercises to give the sore area a break. resting the area can help recover muscles so they can grow back even stronger.

haven’t done one of these in awhile but in honor of the new challenge.

photos with blue background are me at my heaviest, pre james smith. photo with greenery in the back is one month in cfd, beginning of our fiji challenge last fall.

for those who care for numbers. my heaviest was 148lbs. i am five foot 2. i lost 30 inches and at my lowest got down to 108 (do not aim for this, it was the result of a horrible anxiety episode)

my current weight is 120lbs and i’m fairly happy there. i would not mind another 5lbs to devote to muscle building. i did absolutely zero cardio aside from 10k steps per day. i am in the gym 4-6 days weekly lifting.
so for the newbies, trust the process. trust james, andrew and pippa. they will not steer you wrong. with the right knowledge, support and drive, all things are possible.

Tips to stay on track during finals! 📚

the end of the semester can be sooo stressful and you often find yourself staying up late getting all your assignments in.

i wanted to share a few tips i have to help you stay on track with your goals but also keep a clear healthy mind during finals week! (you can use these tips even if you aren’t in school to help keep you on track during busy times of your life!)
_
1. stay hydrated!
2. move your body! (@toneandsculptapp has so many quick efficient workouts that evolve little to no equipment, perfect for dorms!)
3. eat! it’s easy to get in your zone and forget to fuel your body. bring healthy meals/snacks with you! (@alaninutrition protein is a good choice 😍)
4. take a break! if you find yourself looking at the same question or reading the same paragraph over and over get up walk around for 5 minutes and then revisit it!
5. ask for help! if you are stuck on something don’t be afraid to ask a peer or professor for some guidance!
6. sleep! i know we feel we need to stay up and cram cram cram but your body and mind need to rest to be productive!
7. don’t be afraid to say no! it’s friday night and everyone wants to go out and have some fun before finals but if you don’t want to say no! it’s okay and your friends shouldn’t make you feel bad. prioritize your shit!
8. breathe! it’s going to be okay, you are going to be fine, you can do this!

i hope at least one of these helps you! i remember how stressed i was throughout undergrad during finals time vs grad school where i practice all of these tips and have been a lot less stressed and more confident in my abilities!
