let’s talk about the “i’ll start when xyz” mindset. how often do you find your self saying “eh, i’ll start my diet monday”. or “i’ll start that paper tomorrow”...and then pushing it off even further😬 .

this can be such a toxic mindset, particularly when it’s in the context of training or nutrition🍎 i can promise you, binging on sunday, before you start your insanely restrictive diet on monday, is not the way to reach your goals🙅🏼‍♀️ .

try this approach instead:

1️⃣ starting a program or new routine not when you think you’re “ready” but when you know you should. because believe me, you will never feel ready☝🏼
2️⃣create sustainable and attainable goals
3️⃣ stick to a plan
switching your diet and workout program can really hinder your progress. so get on a plan, and stick to it!

i’m a big fan of pyramiding weight when doing arms. basically start with lighter weight with a lot of reps and build up to a heavy set with few reps. then go back down in weight and up the reps. arms can handle a lot of volume to crank that bitch📻

Quick chest day to try 💪🙂
1. incline dumbbell press. four sets, 20-16-12-10 reps
2. incline dumbbell fly’s. four sets of 12 reps
3.low cable chest fly’s. four sets of 20 reps
4. chest dip machine. four sets of 10 reps slow and then 10 regular reps. (20 reps a set)
5. flat bench press for four sets till failure increasing weight each time. no rest apart from time needed to change weight.

I don’t usually post a lot of personal stuff but october 1st 2015 i decided i wanted a major lifestyle change so i started lifting and training for a half marathon and 5 years later i’ve stayed consistent with training it’s nothing special i’m not into heavy lifting but i work really h*****n endurance and lightweight lifting it’s so worth the struggle i have so much energy and discipline now and also it feels really good to look good for your loved one some people have this idea that it’s ok to let yourself go when you get married but i think that’s crazy lol i’m trying to look good for my girl as long as i can lol..anyways workout it feels good lol

went to the cook/douglass gym for the first time yesterday and now i can say that i've been to every gym at rutgers. werblin is still my favorite 🤷‍♀️ this chest and triceps workout gave me a lot of motivation that i needed. i bench pressed for the first time yesterday and it was so fun!!! shoutout to @sid_tkdd for being my and @xoshreyyxo 's personal trainer! .

the past three weeks have been a little rough for me in terms of finding the motivation to get myself to go to the gym. i had the time and everything to go, but i just felt so lazy and unmotivated for some reason. i went a few times here and there, but i got lazy with my workouts and did not put in all my effort. i felt so energized after yesterday's workout though and got reminded of my goals so now i'm ready to take on more gym sessions. there's only 2 weeks left in the semester and i really want to make the most of it, so i'm going to try my best to stay consistent with it all. i'm definitely going to post more too to keep myself accountable. if you're finding yourself to be low in motivation too, then remind yourself of your goals and why you started in the first place. .

💥🎉member spotlight: ezekiel ortiz 🎉💥
this member spotlight is a little different. we're getting to know our coaching intern, zeek! if you have attended a class at cf3p in the last 2 months, you have no doubt seen zeek around. he has been shadowing our current coaches at every opportunity as he learns the rope to become a coach himself. so today, i wanted everyone to get to know zeek a little.

zeek grew up an air force brat, moving all over. he was born in the philippines, but moved to california at just 3 months old as his dad's next station. he considers california home as that where he spent the most time and eventually graduated high school there. he moved to pensacola, fl to attend pensacola christian college where he has earned his bachelor's degree in pastoral studies and then went on to earn his masters of divinity in august of 2018.
while in college, he tried all kinds of different areas of fitness(bro sesh, power lifting, track and field, swimming, intercollegiate sports, etc) until he really fell in love with weightlifting and the ability it gave him to become a more well-rounded athlete which is real goal in fitness.
while visitng his family in california last summer, and dropping in at a usaw gym, he learned that david spitz from cal strength would be teaching a usaw level 1 course at the gym and a trainer there suggested he go. so he did, and he earned his usaw level 1.
what brought you to cf3p?
- after earning his usaw level 1 in california, zeek wanted to put his skills to work when he got home to pace. he discovered that cf3p is the closest usaw affiliate and came in to learn more about our programs.
what's your biggest achievement/proudest moment in the gym?
-just last week he was able to do his first handstand pushup!

what is your next goal?

make sure you keep your back straight and your elbow aligned with your back!

make sure not to swing your body when doing the exercise it’s a controlled movement!

this is one of my all time favorite tricep moves! but make sure you keep your arms so close to your body

make sure when you push the cable out you turn your elbows and wrists out
