Why are we mean to other people?

i had this going through my head the other day. my dear friend @sydney.deen posted a story about people appreciating kindness and it basically ended with “don’t be an a$$hole” 😂. but it honestly made me think.
.

there’s so many times in my life that i have lost my patience and been unnecessarily rude to someone i may not even know. and then i thought about how often others can be mean or rude to me, and how that makes me feel. .

whether any of us want to admit it, unkind gestures or words can really really sting. it doesn’t matter if it’s your best friend, your parent, your siblings, or someone you just ran into on the street. .

negativity and positivity both carry very heavy and contagious emotions. for all you know, that one moment of being mean could hang over a person and make them feel bad for the rest of their day. although it’s all of our own responsibility to pick ourselves up, that doesn’t mean we should be so selfish to think that our current state of mind is the only one that matters. .

think about all the times someone has treated you poorly and you went home to complain about it... now think about all the times someone said something kind to you and it put a smile on your face and you went home to tell someone about how nice that person was... .

energy is a real thing. what you’re putting out can effect you and every single person you interact with. no one wants someone to be mean to them, so why would we be unkind to others?

⛲️the "proper" way how to do this is to use your right hand and throw the coin over you left shoulder. all the money collected from the fountain is used to feed rome's citizens in need. .
