It's been almost a month since i've injured my knee but i'm committed to running, it saves me. throughout the work week i can be very obsessive over work, family, friends; but yoga and running helps me relax and handle daily stress in a positive way. so, today i started training again and this time with a friend.
i've heard a lot of runners say the biggest mistake you can make running is going alone and i couldn't agree more. let's be honest, running is hard but it's a lot easier when you feel supported.
a few months ago, johnny and i were looking for a dog walker to help run our dog walking company while we went on vacation for a friend's wedding and were connected with a wonderful dog runner and obedience trainer, amy at go dogs, go! she's absolutely wonderful.
when i returned we agreed to start training for a half marathon together and this was day one. we ran 3 miles around monument valley park. i absolutely love having someone to run with, it helps get out of my head and pay attention to the pace and breathing. it was also really special because she brought her baby boy and i brought my roll dog, leia.

I’m a fan of minimal gym equipment usage 🙃. with that said, i did a triceps, biceps, and back workout using three moves and one station. all following a 3 mile run. working out doesn’t have to be complex to be effective. full workout in my story.

Har sista veckorna haft problem med både ett seglivat ryggskott och ev överansträngt knä. har därför beslutat att skippa borås 6-timmars. småskavanker kombinerat med 4 veckors utlandsjobb senaste tiden har inte varit den bästa uppladdningen tyvärr.

körde en runda på löpbandet idag i mina salming speed 6. skönt med en ordentlig genomkörare, knäet kändes dessutom ok 👍

Only 5 days to marathon so i’m thinking of my race day fuel. i’m taking a couple of different things but definitely my oat and raisin maca energy balls. no nuts in these for those of you with allergies and 21g carbs in each ball.
more worryingly i have a funny feeling in my chest, but of a cough developing and a slightly husky voice. please don’t let it get worse!!!
oat raisin and maca balls
200g oats
170g raisins
150g medjoul dates
3 tbsp maca powder
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp agave syrup
whizz the oats in a food processor to a fine flour. add everything else except the syrup and process until well combined. finally add the syrup and mix again. roll into 20 balls.
i eat 2 of these every 6km on my long runs. .

Run no.3 since my accident. staying consistent with my speed and pain is less each time 🏃‍♀️🙌 .

i have 3 runs planned this week, today, wednesday and friday.
in addition to that, i have 3 days of cycle commute for work.
.
as @hannathorpington calls it, my 'maiden voyage' is tomorrow. so, i hope the weather is kind to me.
bonus is, it's school half term so less cars on the road to ease me into the cycle commute 👌🏻🚴‍♀️ .

After a week off after the royal parks half i am back on it! easy 20min run after my strength and core session on the treadmill in the paincave 🙌🏻 after a lot of thinking about what’s next i have decided that next year will be about getting fitter, stronger and faster - so i am putting the marathon on the back burner for now and will be concentrating on the half distance. i feel i haven’t quite got to where i want to be yet so am going to focus on speed and fitness.
the goal is to knock about 10mins off my hm time.... that’s going to require dedication and focus from me, especially through winter, need to keep my fitness up.
i also know i need to eat better, i have not been fueling right at all and that has a big impact on training.
you know what they say a girl with a plan can!

First attempt at a very speedy 5k!
my goal for my next half marathon in llanelli is sub 90 minutes!
i’ve got a couple of months to really hammer out my training!

i asked @bristolrunner on tips on how to bring my 1/2 marathon time down and considering he’s smashed out loads of quick 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons i reckon he knows what he’s talking about! he said that i should start on working on getting my 5k time below 20 minutes!
