Started out as a back & bi day, and turned into a full upper body workout. 🤷🏻‍♀️

lately, i have only been working out 2-3 times per week. i usually do 1-2 lower body days and 1 -2 upper body days, depending on the week! i prefer to do a full upper body to make sure i’m targeting all muscle groups. 🤗

i always tell my clients, you don’t have to workout 5-6 times per week to see results and live a healthy lifestyle. pick a frequency that you can be consistent with! being in my third trimester, 2-3 times a feels best for me! 💫

Your goal should always be to make progress
.
there are tons of ways to constantly make progress in the gym.
.
you don’t always have to increase the weight. .
doing 5 sets instead of the usual 4 is progress .
doing 12 reps instead of the usual 10 is progress
.
better form is progress, the better your form the more weight you’ll be able to lift thus the more gains
.
at the end of the day your progress is your progress don’t worry about the next guy. focus on improving yourself .

I’ve only been able to exercise once this week and it’s actually got me thinking how much my perception on going to the gym has changed. when i first started exercising, i think i went through a period of being obsessed with it. i would say no to going out with friends or family, in fear that it would ruin my routine or diet 🤦🏼‍♀️ now i understand that balance is so important and that missing 1 day or 1 week of training is actually ok and isn’t the end of the world! ☺️⁣

its so important to remind ourselves that the gym will always be there ✨ so take care of yourself, rest when you need to rest, celebrate with friends when you can and exercise when and how you want 🥰 life shouldn’t just be lived, it should be celebrated 🎉 ⁣

How to build a balanced plate (swipe) 👉🏼⠀

when it comes to creating a balanced meal, i always aim to fill half my plate with non-starchy vegetables.
🍽⠀
add in some healthy f*t which slows gastric emptying (cck), aids in absorption of your f*t soluble vitamins (a, k, e, d), and supports proper hormone production.⠀
🍽⠀
pair with a protein of your choice. some of my favorites include: wild cold-water oily fish (salmon/sardines), lentils, and tempeh.⠀
🍽⠀
note: protein is the most satiating of all your macros. if you are still hungry after a meal, try adding in more protein.⠀
🍽⠀

• greens + fiber = roasted broccolini, asparagus, & brussel sprouts⠀
• starch: 1/4 cup roasted sweet potato⠀
• healthy fat: avocado, olive oil, & h**p seeds⠀

when it comes to animal products, consider the source. choose quality over quantity. conventionally raised animal products are much higher in pro-inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids compared to wild or pastured animal products which are higher in anti-inflammatory omega-3s.⠀

What do you prioritize in your life?

if you're not seeing the results you want then i will encourage you to look at what you are focusing on & prioritising. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
for example, although i travel like a crazy person, exercise is a priority. even if all this means is doing 10 squats while i brush my teeth. if i have a few hours before a flight, i will go for a 30 min run. i prioritise self-care, such as listening to meditations at night, putting my phone away 30 min before bed & doing my gratitude journal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
you see, energy flows where focus goes. instead of setting your january 1 goal, start it now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Heavy guys need to start doing less cardio to lose f*t and head on over to the compound and functional training areas. combine that bulk with large muscles and you'll be shifting some serious weight leading to increased f*t loss.

momentum plays an important variable here. every beginning is hard. but while you progress, you become unstoppable at one time. 🚀

i still remember when i started to workout. i was skinny and weak and i didn’t see myself lifting the weight i was suppose to lift. my mindset was not programmed by that time and i haven’t had built a base.

but i didn’t give up. i went through my first year of training. i was doing pretty well, i gained weight and muscles💪🏽. then i took a break for a while. when i got back to the gym, it wasn’t as hard as my very beginning. i was used to the weight and my muscles came back really quick! ☄️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ sometimes we are too h*****n ourselves. a method to remind yourself how well you’re doing is journaling 📝. if it’s about the training, you can journal exercises that you go over and over again and see the increase of your weight. to see your body transformation, simply take a picture every week!📸 you can also create a sheet with things in your daily life that you want to keep track of and see if you perform well. 💥

if you see it black on white, it is easier to realize how far you’ve come! you will naturally be more grateful and in a more positive mood 🌞

18 weeks ✔️ i've gone quiet from posts for the last few weeks. and that's not because i'm not continuing journey, but i've been prioritising other things (sleeeeeeep) and narrowing down on what's important right now.

with 2 christmas parties last weekend and 3 this weekend, you stop and prioritise where you're having your cheat meal that week, prepare as much meal prep as possible so you can double up on training to hit your sessions so you can make time with the people who count. it's a race... and it's kind of invigorating.

last night i went out, then this morning i woke up after a few hours sleep so i could get my session done before i went to the christmas picnic with some of my faves.
