I used to find it most inspiring to follow people who were dedicated and regimented. but there came a point when i realized i needed a little less of that. that my quality of life improved with a little less rigidity and a little more spontaneity. that what i needed wasn’t pressure on myself to do “more”, but permission to do nothing. strict diets and inflexible routines are not inspiring to me, nor are they helpful. interestingly, i’ve been able to accomplish much more with this more laid-back approach to life. i’m still working on it, but so far, it’s brought me so many wonderful experiences and moments. i’m not sure who needs to hear this or if it helps, but it’s really okay to let go a little. go out on a weeknight. let yourself lie around for an entire sunday and do absolutely nothing. it’s going to be okay. discipline to the point of obstinance isn’t something we should necessarily be glorifying.⁣

Real talk - this is me - no filter. i work hard but i still have stretch marks, bits i don't like and am unhappy with what i see in the mirror on a daily basis. in this day and age, we are faced with a 'reality' where we scroll and scroll through endless amounts of perfection on social media and wonder why we can't look like that. we work our ass's off to get results and come away feeling self conscious and deflated because we can't reach that 'goal body' we were aiming for. i feel sorry for our generation and any more to come after us. we base our goals on unrealistic people who present what they want to us on social media. i look at someone and think why can't i just look like that when the reality is they are an edited version - filters, professional lighting, photoshop or even paying to look that way. you can now pay to have your f*t cells blasted, have f*t moved from your stomach to your a*s or even have your abs sculpted. no wonder so many of us struggle with self esteem issues and a lack of self love. self love is hard enough as it is and sometimes we have to step back and remember we are comparing ourselves with unrealistic bodies.

Oh yeah i was supposed to lift today 💁‍♀️ 215# front squat felt nice n snappy so i went for a #yolo #prorer at 237# and i think it was pretty darn near max effort, but tbh it didn't feel like a weight that justified getting pinned under, thus the shouting and shaking. true max effort would be a gurgling scream fyi.
did s****h and cnj at 85% then tried z-press in a special lady stance. it was kinda more stable but a little h*****n the hips. maybe i shouldn't spread my legs this much tho 🤔😂 .

a sunday well spent brings a week of content. today was exactly that for me! i checked a lot of items off of my never-ending to do list which makes me incredibly happy (all my enneagram type 3 peeps understand where i’m coming from 🙌🏽) & now i am curled up on the couch watching the grammys, waiting for @douglas.crocker to get home so we can spend a little quality time together before bed.

i started programming deadlifts for @rach_key about 3 months ago. last week she hit a pb of 55kg x4🎉💪🏽. she started deadlifting with 30kg which at the time was heavy. now it’s not even her warmup.

prior to deadlifting we’d been focusing on strengthening her up overall and building on some weakness, mainly core/hips/glutes. rach used to get frequent low back pain. she hasn’t experienced any back pain for some time now. that’s a win in itself!

there’s nothing more satisfying for myself personally than when a client can move around and train pain free!

As february 15th is coming near (dicas deadline- this still terrifies me), i figured i’d share my #rd2be journey. .

i was 13 yrs old when i was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. 15 yrs ago i was battling for my life as a result of this illness. i will share my full #edrecovery story later, but just know that this is where my passion originated from. .

fast-forward & i’m graduating college. i went against academic advising & put a halt to my original clinical nutrition route. i was done talking about disease/illness all the time. i got my bs in nutrition- emphasizing in communications & sports. clinical shminical.

my first job was for a non-profit organization & i would teach workshops in a homeless shelter. it was questions i’d get about preexisting diseases when a 💡 switched on. just b/c i work in preventative nutrition, it doesn’t take away the disease & illness that already exists. that’s when i realized, shit, looks like i’m going back to school. i need to become a registered dietitian to help people to my fullest potential. .

within 6 months of this 💡, i gotten accepted to u. of northern colorado’s distance didactic program to complete my 5 remaining dpd courses. i accepted a position as a degreed nutritionist for wic. i became a certified lactation educator. i was awarded a scholarship from the ca wic association towards my dietetics journey.

idt i’d be sitting here talking to you as an intern who has had the successes i’ve had if i didn’t have these experiences that solidified my passion.

what i was told last yr- you have a 42% chance matching to a di program the first time you apply, of that, it’s about a 10% chance you get your top program choice. um terrifying?

i applied to 4 programs. i got interviewed by 3 (making the top 1/3 cut). i matched with my no. 1 choice. i done did it!

Okay, i’ve always been a lead by example type of girl, so here it is.... .

that picture that you took 👀 you know the one...the picture of you standing in the mirror, body exposed ...the one you stared at for hours...pointing out all of your flaws...and hating how you look...well, i know that picture all too well, and i know how hard it can be to post it. you feel like you will be judged. you feel uncomfortable with putting yourself out there in a world where other people are already where you want to be. for me, i was terrified that once i posted mine, i would have to follow through with the promises i made to myself to do better, because now people would see where i started. but do you know what i say to all of those thoughts?

today, i want you to be brave, because there has never been a time that i’ve done something brave, and i regretted it. you can do this. believe in yourself, but most importantly, love yourself! have the confidence to post that pic. use it as your declaration that you are making a change for the better in your life, and then work your a*s off to make the change. i promise you that when you look back, you will be happy that you have that pic to see how far you’ve come.

Not pretty but i had to grab something on the way home since by the time i’ll be home i need to start fasting. i got a double baconator from wendy’s without ketchup or the bun, holy c**p it was rich! i only ate about half, i don’t know how people can eat a triple but good on them. .

315lbs squats...
noooooo i'm not crying 😭😭😭 maybe a little..🤪😭🌊it's nice seeing 6 red plates..😍 especially in squats.. after complaining so much on of knee pain and going down on weights, this makes me happy😭 dont know how these prs keeps popping left and right especially when i'm so tired from work. so, proud of myself and i just need to stop doubting in myself. i wasnt going to try 315 at all, but i was like f**k it. if i squat it good , if i dont then s**t i hope my knee dont hurt tomorrow lol...anyway i'm done. believe in yourself and maybe the force will be with you🤪
