i’ve had some messages recently asking me what drives me to stay motivated and keep going all the time 💫.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the truth is, i am not 100% motivated all the time. motivation for me comes and goes 🌙.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
there are definitely days where i am hyped up and ready to go but i cant say i feel that way every single day. the truth is for me, i have a routine and which consists of waking up and working out 4-5 times a week. i’m so used to it that whether i am motivated or not i show up and put work in. i know when i put the effort in i feel better all day long and have more energy too ⭐️.

i did.

i woke up this morning and i really wanted to work out.

and then my mindset shifted.
i made a whole bunch of excuses on why it wasn’t gonna happen today.
then after my last set of clients today i had a change of heart. and i’m so glad that i did.

i kick my 🍑 and feel much better for it.

We kick our retest off with the workout from 15.11.2019.
which was the following:

20 minute amrap of the following⁠
2 kb swings 20/12kg⁠
2 burpee box jump over⁠
2 cals ski⁠

after every round completed increase reps by 2. ⁠
continue adding until the 20 minute is over. ⁠

as this is a redo of a workout we should have rounds from last time to compare.

5 amazing morning workout hacks
.
i love getting my workout in in the morning & checking in with my challengers after. it’s a great way to set up your day & means i get it in before everyone else starts making demands in my time (i’m sure you can relate 🙈) .
but it you’re (like me) not a natural morning person it can be sooo hard to stop hitting that snooze button, right?
.
so here’s 5 hacks you can use to make sure you get your morning workout ✅ .
1) put your alarm out of reach. it’s too easy (i know from experience) to keep hitting snooze until your workout window has closed! if that fails there are great apps you can use like step out! that forces you to get out of bed by counting your steps. (warning at least 5 people have sworn at me for recommending this app 😂 but it got them out of bed)
.
2) expose yourself to natural light as soon as you wake up. now this is fine in summer but if you live in england like me & summer consists of about 2 months (if you’re lucky) with some rain thrown in then consider a light box or wake up alarm. it turns off your brains melatonin faucet which can erase your morning fog & gives you the energy to get going.
.
3) fuel up (but don’t sit down) you need to eat the right things to get your blood sugar levels up & fuel your morning workout. choose something that’s about 100-150 calories & easy to digest. even better set it out the night before so you save time in the morning.
.
4) keep yourself accountable with a workout buddy or group. i’ve found that partnering up is the key to success. not only does it make you show up it can also make you push harder. if you can’t convince a friend to join you then consider turning to a friend online or an online group like a facebook group or like i do with my ladies in my vip accountability group. we check in with each other every day & get prizes for checking in.

5) workout at home. your time in the morning is valuable so why waste it sitting in traffic getting to the gym? clear out some space & do your workout at home. you can stream hundreds of workouts to your laptop or tablet like i do & get your workout done in 30 minutes. want more info on what i do? shoot me a dm 💖

i am almost back into dress wardrobe jacket size. i was earlier in week but today tighter as s body in recovery from #fridayfitness 3 1/2 hours walked to over 12 miles transversed.

i do have different collars options in other shirts owned.

i did year & half ago do a lot of diy auto work in this driveway to turn my dad's old 2000 volvo s80 into a saved vehicle & keeper fits my limited driving needs.

i started in a 1971 volvo wagon but this likely first #volvo to 200,000 mile club possible. just under 30,000 still to go & car is tightened up and of no news sounds or rattles though a 20year old vehicle with still great leather interior.

Friday fitness review: buti yoga (heated and not)

if you haven’t heard of buti yoga, don’t worry you aren’t alone! i never realized how many different styles of yoga are really out there or how uniquely different the experience can be. ✨

speaking of different, buti yoga incorporates power yoga positions, tribal dance, and cardio sprints... doing all of this makes an hour just fly by. i love the fact that this is a high intensity workout, considering i get a little antsy during hot yoga. i also think i lucked out finding an awesome instructor. she really gets everyone involved and has phenomenal energy which is is key to a great class.


i’m really becoming a fan of group fitness classes. i feel like i push myself harder when i’m in a group compared to being alone. a lot of people don’t attend group classes because they are afraid of being judged; i had that fear initially, but no one has made me feel that way. and believe me i’m not always doing moves perfectly and sometimes i’m not even doing the right ones 😄. buti yoga is a good place for women to empower women and that’s the vibe you’ll feel if you attend. ✨

verdict: you better believe i’ll be doing buti yoga again! even if the closest studio is 30 minutes away and classes start at 5:15 am 😅. i actually preferred the non heated class, even though i did sweat more when the heat was on. i feel like the instructor challenged us a little more when the class wasn’t heated (she probably doesn’t want anyone passing out), but i’d be down for either class in all honesty. ✨

Shoulder rehab day 4.
this afternoon, i spent an hour with resistance band and dumbbell exercises. i felt as if i wasnt doing much, but it was enough movement to feel my right shoulder. i am eager to be back to where i was 2 months ago, but i am practicing patience.

Barre. ⁣

my first love. while @fwrdfitness studio has grown and evolved to include interval and heated yoga sculpt type classes, i was reminded today how important barre is to one’s regimen. ⁣

our teacher @allthatjazzhd led an amazing class that incorporated parallel squats in lieu of being with all our @fwrdfitness friends skiing/boarding this week during ski week.🏂⛷ functional right? barre preps you for everyday life. we’ve gone snowboarding a few times this winter and i have not only stayed healthy, but my endurance was 🙌, which i credit a lot to our teachers and their amazing thigh work sequences! ⁣

here’s what else i love... ⁣
✨mental fitness. i have to close my eyes frequently, breathe and talk to myself through the difficult, challenging moments in class. #lotsofpeptalks⁣
✨ (almost) all encompassing. while it’s not the best cardio workout, it includes all the other important pillars of fitness: balance, strength, flexibility/mobility, and endurance.⁣
✨low impact - making it great for all fitness levels and ages. just today, as i looked around the room, i saw women from late 20’s to 60’s even a pregnant mama 🤰⁣

if you have been following me for any length of time, you know i absolutely love my desserts. it is kind of my thing.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
when i found my groove with flexible dieting, i was able to really capitalize on maximizing my caloric intake. this has allowed me to eat more food while staying leaner in my off season than i ever could have imagined.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
who would have thought i could make dessert part of my daily "meal plan" and still reach my goals!?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
that being said, it is important to note that my total daily carbohydrate intake really dictates my eating habits. desserts are great and all but when i am deep into prep, barely surviving off 100g of carbs, it is just not worth spending 60g of those for ice cream. you have to be smart with your carbohydrate budget while in a deficit.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
flip that to my current off season state. right now i am rocking a daily intake of 390g. if i hit that target by only eating foods that were "clean", my fiber would be through the roof, i would feel uncomfortably full and bloated and may even experience digestive distress.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
it is at this time that i rely on those desserts and simple carbohydrates to help me out!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
here is one of my go to dessert bowls:⁣⁣

31g @bioxperformancenutrition peanut butter isolate powder⁣⁣
70g unsweetened vanilla cashew milk⁣⁣

i'm so glad that i switched it up and decided to lift somewhere else today!

it's funny, i haven't seen a lot of change with my body f*t % but one thing i noticed today was my arms. maybe it was the different lighting in the locker room or maybe it was just a good pump but i was surprised when i saw my reflection 😂 i've been so caught up in the numbers i didn't stop to notice the other changes going on!

Did you talk yourself out of doing something you wanted to do today?

i did.

i woke up this morning and i really wanted to work out.

and then my mindset shifted.
i made a whole bunch of excuses on why it wasn’t gonna happen today.
then after my last set of clients today i had a change of heart. and i’m so glad that i did.

i kick my 🍑 and feel much better for it.
