Happy tuesday! today i’m toasting 4 ways! which one if your favorite - 1, 2, 3 or 4?
deets:
1. grilled peaches, sea salt, olive oil + smashed avocado over @followyourheart millet bread
2. sliced strawberries, @salbachia chia seeds over @justins chocolate hazelnut butter
3. sliced banana, drizzle of @manukadr honey, over @barneybutter crunchy almond butter
4. @vitalfarms fried egg, @fourthandheart ghee, sea salt, red pepper flakes over avocado toast

Breakfast was simple, but lunch was even simpler 💕🤗 while in hawaii, i started experimenting with grains again. i can’t tolerate gluten (or else i 🤢) and at one point a few years ago i noticed i felt better after focusing away from grains. however, with everything going on in my heath these past 8 months, i noticed i felt hella better when i ate carbs. yeah that’s right, i don’t fear any macro (or micro) nutrient! all are welcome to the party 🎉 but as much as i’d love to, my diet can’t be all sweet ps 😅so i tried white rice (ya know, the one that was criminalized a few years ago and that the okinawans live to 100+ with) and my tummy is very happy 🤗plus i cooked then cooled it for 12+ hours for resistant starch! just goes to show that not everything out there is bad, guys! 💗 #iyamlove -

I can’t even begin to express how grateful i am to live in this amazing part of the world again. sometimes i think “what the heck was the point of living in new york city the last 2 years, where i was so unhappy and out of my element??” but there are so many reasons. not only did i need to pursue my dreams at the time, but i needed to learn to stop taking what i already have for granted. when i lived in california before, i never once just stopped and took in my surroundings and appreciated the absolute beauty that was before me. the beach, the mountains, the weather; i didn’t think twice about them.
this time around is different, though. i want to see it all. i want to acknowledge everything mother nature has blessed me with, because i feel like i’ve been given a second chance.
the past month i’ve hiked, biked, paddle boarded, roller bladed, ran, surfed, and swam, and i’ve never felt more connected with nature or myself.
wherever you’re at right now, stop and take a moment to appreciate everything you’ve already been given, because one day if it’s gone, you might wish that you had 🌎💛

#224 south indian breakfast

rasam vada has started becoming my new favorite. love the tangy flavor from the tamarind with a hot medu vadu.

and the staple idli sambhar with coconut chutney is a great way to start your day!

Baked liempo
.
ingredients
* 1 kilo whole liempo (bone-in)
* 2 cups water
* 3 cloves garlic, crused
* 1 onion sliced
* 3 pcs dried bay leaf
* 2 tbsp salt
* 1 tsp peppercorn
.
procedure:
1. combine water, salt, garlic, bay leaf and onion in a pan, and place pork, skin first
2. bring to boil then simmer for ~20min covered
3. pre-heat oven to ~250c
4. remove pork and let it cool down for ~ 20 min
5. strain broth and set aside
6. once pork has cooled down, rub apple cider vinegar and sprinkle salt on top
7. place in a baking pan and pour in the remaining broth
8. bake for ~1 1/2 hr or until skin is crispy
9. cover and let it rest for another 10 min to cool
.
