Salted almond butter caramel protein cups

it’s national peanut butter day so it’s only fair i share a nut butter ripper 😍
simple & only 3 steps at 119 calories 😍! i love them straight out of the freezer 😍 this one was made to fit in my macros and plan in the yummiest way, but by all means adjust them to you, so more choc , less choc, more almond butter or a different nut butter , less protein more protein, this is just a base from what i have created for me and my plan but you do you 🥰they go down a treat! 💁🏻‍♀️hehe

ingredients

choc top & bottom:
•80-140g chocolate * (see notes)
•1tsp coconut oil
caramel:
•25g of almond butter (or as much as you want)
•3tbs of @natvialiving caramel sauce (or maple syrup)
•10g natvia/ sweetener
•40-45ml vanilla unsweetened almond milk
•1/2 tsp vanilla
•pinch of salt
•1 scoop 40g of vanilla/ caramel protein (i use @macr0mike vanilla protein or salted caramel pb+(alternatively more nut butter)

method :
first melt your choc with oil. use 65% of your choc fill 1-2 tbs in each cup cake case mould (i use 6 silicone moulds) place in the fridge to set. make the caramel by whisking almond butter with your caramel or maple , almond milk, vanilla and salt. once smooth stir in your protein with a spoon till you have a thick caramel. spoon equally to each cup making a smooth surface. spoon on remaining choc to the centre of the caramel and push it to just before the edge. freeze for 1 hr and pop out to have straight away. keep in the fridge for a goey cup, or freezer for a chewy hard cup (my fav). notes* amount of choc depends on how much you want to use, 80g is the minimum to cover the cups & keep the calories lower, if you want a thicker chocolate use more :)

No cardio today, but banged out two quickie lifts. i hit arms and calves, took a 3-4 min break, and then hit shoulders and traps. i had a solid burn for both lifts and completed 7-8 sets for each one. just keep lifting! 🏋🏾‍♂️

Week 3 day 7
one of my least favorite workouts but something i really need to do. stretch. stretching is not fun when you’re tight everywhere but necessary. the benefits of stretching .decreases muscle stiffness and improves range of motion .
.may reduce risk of injury .helps relieve post exercise pains .improves posture .helps manage stress .reduces muscular tension and enhances muscular relaxation .improves overall functional performance
this is one of the times the end justifies the means, i’m so relaxed 😌

I wanted to do the #dollyparton challenge because...
😍
1.) i thought it would be fun to share and i’m bored. just kidding- i don’t ever get bored. (not my nature.)
2.) i have no “new” or rather i should say “super exciting” content to post because i’ve been in a major social media sharing rut.
3.) ok. i admit it. i really just finally gained the courage (like a year later) to share the picture in the bottom right hand corner.

i am posting it now however, because i realize that looking back, i am proud of what my “close to 40 year old”, three children later” body, with a “slowed down metabolism” was able to accomplish with discipline, hard work, and dedication over an extended period of time.

achieving a fitness goal for me is always more about the mental transformation than the physical— and i remember how mentally strong i was when i took the picture.
💪🏼
i am hopeful that by revisiting the picture- it will be my motivation and inspiration to clean up my diet, because the “fries before guys” mentality is not serving me well in any area of my life.
😂
for over the 2.5 years i have showed up to sweat. what hasn’t been consistent over that time period is my diet, which is why my body no longer looks like the picture. ha! i love to eat— all the foods. when the bottom right picture was taken, i was eating an 80/20 diet that did not consist of fries every other day. as i write this post, i don’t feel as well mentally having so many cheat meals and treats- so i’m attempting once again to become a (little) more focused.

i am still working out atleast 5/7 days in a week, however i’ve had to cut weight training because i have a shoulder injury.
since my injury, i have confirmation that weight training is the key to success after age 30, in addition to cardio and eating well.
🔑
i will find out this week if i need surgery for my shoulder- and am anxious to recover so i can get back to weight training sooner than later.
🏋🏻‍♀️
i am posting this as a reminder to not only myself- but to you as well— to never doubt what you can achieve at any age, in any area of your life, with consistency, discipline, hard work and a desire to succeed.

Day 1 #thmfuelcycle .
i’m following the plan pretty closely from the thm plan book. for breakfast i ate 4 scrambled eggs in a little butter and a trimmy with oolong tea. i switched out lunch and dinner and made siesta salmon with squash and a salad for lunch. for a snack 4 hours later i ate a couple superfood chocolate chews. for dinner i ate an s salad in a jar with turkey b****t that i made in the crockpot today to eat this week. on both salads today i had sweet & tangy vinaigrette for my dressing. for dessert i ate a couple skinny truffles. i survived all day without any fruit, cheese, or yogurt! i’m looking forward to my e days when i can have some energizing carbs! #thm #trimhealthymama #finishstrong2020 #fitjourney #teamshed #shedstrong #phil413

Pull ups and chin ups are one of the most underutilized bodyweight exercises in my opinion. i try to throw them in every back workout! if you cannot do a pull up yet, fear not! ⁠
here is a great progression to help you get there.⁠
wide cable lat pull downs: 5 sets of ten reps⁠
underhand lat pull downs: 5 sets of ten reps⁠
find a weight for both where you can do no more than 10 with good form for each set. try your best though to get eleven. once you notice the amount of reps you can do start to increase, its time to start increasing the weight as well. additionally, if you can hit back twice a week with sufficient rest in between, you'll be hitting those pull ups a lot faster! ⁠

When i first started training with @jonahutch in march 2017, my upper body was so weak, i couldn’t raise my arms overhead ten times. now i can 5x5 #benchpress 135lbs and #shoulderpress 45lbs in each hand. and we go heavier almost every week.
# more importantly i’m mentally stronger then i’ve ever been. last week when we were trying the 45s, i failed on the second set. jonathan told me i was physically strong enough, but my mind was holding me back. today, i told myself i could do all five sets, and i did... with a sixth on the last. #raiseyourstandards

Look y’all....busy moms don’t have time for shit. feel me?🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ between arguments, freakin’ nerf darts flying, the dog being ridden like a pony, laundry, dishes, and alllll the other stuff i don’t have time for thinking of all the recipes for the week and making sure i have everything to go along with them.
that’s why meal plans are so important to me- just tell me what to freakin’ make & eat and i’ll do it(mostly😂) luckily i have a fit-community that gives me meal plans which is a total time saver, for this momma and includes shopping lists!

Should you track weight, inches, body fat, muscle mass or bmi? which one is the true metric of health? the short answer is bmi and body f*t percent. the long answer is it depends on the goal and the obstacles along the path. the best trainers use a variety of these metrics to measure many points. this reduces the obstacles the path to the goal may have. for the client, know your trainer so you can focus on your goal. for the trainer know your client and that the path will change but the goal will still be your end result with the right metrics. track your results! in any journey there is a start and a destination you can't get there without the right map.

Week number 4.
i’m down in cms, and down 3 kg.. but most days i feel no change. i still feel too wobbly and rolly.
my size 10 (aus) clothes are still too tight.
i feel like this is a point where a lot of people might give up.
.
sick of having to think about what you’re going to eat. sick of weighing and measuring all your food.
wanting to see bigger results faster.
.
i know i am! i find it annoying having to do those things. and most days i feel like giving up. then i scroll through insta and see my old pictures or pics of other people who have done this before. and am reminded why i am doing this.

it’s because i want those clothes to fit. i want to feel confident again. i want to be fit and healthy, for myself, for my kids and husband. .
so if you’re about to quit this whole thing.. as cliche as it sounds. remember your why. remember what u were doing this for again. .
and keep going. if you’re at 4 weeks like me.. what’s another 4 weeks? u made it this far.. let’s just focus on making it this far again. .

veganuary for the lazy cook - day 8 (2 serves)

breakfast - 4 pieces of wholemeal toast with sliced avocado and tomato.
.
lunch - 2 x hummus sandwiches with leftover roast green capsicum, mushroom, and sweet potato. add sun-dried tomato, green and black olives, and freshly sliced brown onion onto wholemeal bread.
.
dinner for 2 - thai green curry with cannellini beans
.
ingredients
.
a)
1 small sweet potato, peeled and cubed
1/2 large green capsicum, cubed
2 large cup mushrooms, sliced thickly
a few dashes onion powder
a few dashes of garlic powder
a few dashes of pepper
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon vegetable broth .
b)
1 tablespoon vegetable broth
2 kaffir leaves
1/2 brown onion, sliced
1 red chilli, sliced
.
c)
3 heaped tablespoons thai green curry paste (ensure there are no fish products)
.
d)
270 ml coconut milk (reduced fat)
1/2 cup vegetable broth
.
e)
200 grams cannelli, washed and drained
1 bunch of kai lan
.
method
.
mix a) and transfer to the oven for 30 minutes @ 200 c.
.
for b), heat tablespoon of broth and add b) ingredients. cook until onion is translucent.
.
add c) and cook for a minute.
.
add d) and mix well. simmer for approximately 8 minutes.
.
add e) and a) and stir until the kai lan leaves are wilted. serve with basmati rice.
.
so much gratitude for the kaffir leaves that give that extra flavour to the curry 🙏.
