Literally never felt so confident in a bikini these days and i’m so pleased i’ve got to this point. yes i live in a privileged body but i also try to take the best care of it. i eat, train, supplement and rest from a place of self love. i made the decision to do as much as i can to take care of myself (if it doesn’t serve me physically it will serve me mentally🥂) and quite honestly i feel so liberated. i want to be fit, well and energetic for the people around me and sometimes that requires discipline but in my experience it feels better than the alternative. ⁣

All i remember about high school is how awkward, angsty and uncomfortable i was. ⁣

i remember striving for perfection and being h*****n myself. ⁣

i remember feeling less than my skinny peers and hyper aware of my appearance. ⁣

also, several fun nights eating entire trays of brownies with my best friends and loving the feeling of acing my academics. ⁣

turns out, as i’ve gotten older, i’ve realized that other people didn’t perceive me the same way. ⁣

they saw my smarts, ambition and drive. ⁣
they thought i was witty and energetic. ⁣

some of them even thought i was pretty...something i was so convinced i never could be. ⁣

it took me many years of self-development, a few heartbreaks, spiraling into an eating disorder and picking myself back up again to be able to see those qualities in myself. ⁣

to realize that i am so much more than my body, and that when i treat it right- nourish it, move it with intention, and stop punishing it.... it transforms before my eyes. ⁣

sometimes, when we are struggling hard to see our own worth, we only see ourselves through the lens of self-hate. ⁣

but taking action through self-care, prioritizing your nourishment, making your body stronger and more energized... that all helps to wipe that fog away so you can see yourself with the love you deserve. ⁣

you are already strong, fun, interesting and passionate... but you are holding yourself back because you haven’t decided that you are worth it yet. ⁣

when you decide that you are ready to shed the layers and reveal your inner glowing, badass, health goddess, i am here to support you and cheer you on! ⁣

because i’ve been there. and i get it. ⁣

Growing up, i struggled with my weight. i was always made fun of for being the fattest one in the group🙇‍♀️. ⠀

deep down, i felt that being f*t was why i wasn't confident and beautiful like other girls. that’s the story i told myself, therefore the solution ➡️ lose the weight. ⠀
.⠀
.⠀
i’d cycle between all or nothing workouts and low calorie diets to binging 2000+ calories a day and not working out for weeks. even when i did try the new diets that i kept hearing about (low carb, low fat, vegetarian/vegan, paleo, whole 3) i always ended back in the same spot. ⠀
.⠀
.⠀
this cycle went on for years; and each year the weight kept packing on. the voices in my head kept saying 🚫you’re a failure. a quitter. you'll never succeed at losing weight, you'll always be f*t and a failure🚫⠀
.⠀
.⠀
i turned to food for everything - comfort, happiness, anger, sadness, anxiety & stress. food made my problems temporarily go away. until food became a problem. it eventually spiralled out of control - ordering half the menu, eating until my stomach hurt & not stopping. ⠀
.⠀
.⠀
i gained 20 pounds in a few months, my clothes no longer fit, and i saw new stretch marks on my body. i couldn’t bare to look at myself when i undressed.⠀

.⠀
deep down, i knew that this couldn’t go on any longer. i knew i needed to change. i needed help, and i needed to try it differently this time. ⠀

i reached out for help because i wanted to change myself physically. i ended up seeing more mental and habitual changes than physical changes. turns out, what i was actually chasing after wasn’t just fat/weight loss. it was freedom. ⠀

freedom from: guilt, restrictive diets, negative self-talk, beliefs that i am destined to fail or having to look a certain way to be accepted, or that my self worth was somehow tied to my appearance or a number on a scale. ⠀

left: a girl who hated her body, felt ugly & uncomfortable, constantly dieting to fit into society’s way of “beautiful and acceptable”. ➡️right: a women who is confident in her own body, found faith & belief in her own capabilities, & freedom from the shackles of yo-yo dieting, food restrictions, & self limiting beliefs.

A picture i took today. i was feeling my makeup🌺

i’m so proud of myself to gave gone this long without binging. i find in the past when i’m frustrated or upset i just binge or just eat when not needed, but now i ask myself what is it i truly need? i talk to myself about doing something else and i tell myself there are other ways to ease frustration then food.
my biggest thing is keeping busy especially as i usually stay up at night. i love routine and i think that’s been my biggest game changer.
hopefully next week i’ll post a current full body, maybe friday as it’s valentine’s day!
i hope you’re all loving yourself and reminding yourselves this journey isn’t a punishment but about learning and healing your bodies❤️

When people tell you having a kid will ruin your body- no it won’t, your body is designed to do this! but what it’s not designed to do is lead an unhealthy and sedentary lifestyle. my body isn’t quite the same as before a baby but i kinda like it more now, i’ve trained consistently for over 5 years and loved my shape at every stage because i’m always taking care of myself, honouring my body and working hard! ⁣⁣⁣

body f*t % edition

whether you’re a guy or gal, lower body f*t percentage seems to be a consistent theme/goal.
.
i’m not going to use this post to debunk myths or spell out the steps to do so.
.
instead, i want you to understand what you want.
.
admit it or not, you have an image in your head of what you want to look like based upon comparing to others.
.
you see a friend, celebrity, or internet personality of a certain physique and say, “i want to look like that.”
.
well, it’s not that simple.
.
for one, both of you have different bodies. different bodies = different genetics, different reactions to foods, and different body types (more than likely).
.
on the other hand, you need to establish and identify where you are at, body f*t percentage wise.
.
once you have that identified, you can set a goal for yourself and make actionable steps to get get there.
.
take a look at these pics; you’re looking at a total difference of about 10% body fat.
.
at my weight, that’s almost 20 lbs of fat!!
.
now put that into perspective. you think it’s easy to lose that much weight?
.
how about that much weight, in f*t alone?!
.
it’s not; that’s why you need to be patient and practical.
.
you won’t look like someone else because you are your own person.
.
i would argue that you will look better 😉 .

I had a 10am today but still decided to wake up at 7am to workout out.

in the past i’ve started with doing vigorous exercise that after a few days i give up but now with a better and healthier mindset, i’ve chosen to start small and build my way up.

i’ve been working out using this tae bo workout video and my goal is to do more of the video each day till i complete the whole thing.

i like tae bo as the fitness trainer eases you in so you feel like you’re on a spring going into a leap rather than just jumping of a cliff.

i feel great right now and i’m working on journaling my feelings and thoughts, working on stress and emotional eating. journaling and finding out your triggers and stimulus really does help to k**l at the root this behaviour.
ultimately this is about self love and i’m glad i’m taking this journey slowly to learn about myself.

I went back home to wash my hair cos university student hall showers are such a task.
i thought i’d actually workout and get uni work done but i’ve done none of that which is irritating me. i think i find it hard to stay on task to work out when i go home but i know if i want to fork this habit i need to push through regardless.
first thing i had today was coffee to get me up cos i’m literally exhausted (this isn’t my personal cup)
last time i posted on this page in 2019 i was 94kg and now i’m 91kg so i’m super excited and motivated to keep making better food choices🌺

What is the number one reason for a lack of f*t loss? @pellofitness
.
it is because you are not in a calorie deficit. if you were, you would lose fat.
.
as we reduce calories and lose fat, our adherence slowly diminishes. a little bite here and there, going out to eat more often, etc... studies have shown this consistently.
.
one thing that they have found is that portions sizes slowly increase over time as well. what you visually thought was a portion before losing some weight now looks different to you after losing some weight.
.
another study showed that people on average under reported their calorie intake by over 30%!!! that is a lot!
.
so, if your weight loss has stalled for a few weeks, try measuring your portions for a couple of weeks. typically, this will net in more weight loss.
.
it really isn't that hard and in fact, can help your dishes have consistent flavor.
.
remember, your health is serious and occas6checking yourself is not a bad thing!

Dinner tonight.
left over minute steak, sliced peppers and onions, steak spice, olive oil and black pepper.
about 5-10 minutes prep time, and 10 minutes cook time.

delicious, nutritious and filling, with lots of protein.

ate it with a bit of greek yogurt over a bed of rice.

generous helping comes in at less than 500 calories.

not a problem to stay in a calorie deficit and still feel satisfied when you eat like this... 💥boom!💥

Literally never felt so confident in a bikini these days and i’m so pleased i’ve got to this point. yes i live in a privileged body but i also try to take the best care of it. i eat, train, supplement and rest from a place of self love. i made the decision to do as much as i can to take care of myself (if it doesn’t serve me physically it will serve me mentally🥂) and quite honestly i feel so liberated. i want to be fit, well and energetic for the people around me and sometimes that requires discipline but in my experience it feels better than the alternative. ⁣

My love/hate relationship with deadlifts 🤷🏼‍♂️

i have never been a power lifter. i don’t give a c**p about how much i can lift. .
i care about aesthetics, functional movement and overall strength.
.
the numbers mean nothing to me. the muscular contraction and growth means everything.
.
there are exercises that are staples, and the deadlift is one of those staples.
.
i have never been great at deadlifts, but have improved tremendously since dedicating more time to them.
.
over the last 3 months i got away from the traditional deadlift, instead focusing on more posterior chain lifts like the romanian deadlift.

it felt good to deadlift again today. didn’t go extremely heavy, but it felt good. almost primal picking up heavy things...

hey guys, coach @keithkraker here! i’m surprised that i get this question as often as i do but i thought i would give some practical recommendations for adding cardio to your f*t loss plan!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
for those that lift 3-4 times per week, i would try to do your cardio workout on your rest days. it’s usually better to space the two as much as you can and by placing them on separate days, you can recover well from both.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
for those that lift 4-6 days per week, it becomes very difficult to do cardio on rest days. i recommend trying to space it out as far from your workout as possible. maybe do one session in the morning and one in the evening. if you can’t do two sessions in one day, i would highly recommend doing cardio after weights. this will allow you to place more intensity with the weights which will ultimately provide better long-term results.

let’s face it, you can do low intensity cardio workouts when we are tired but have you tried lifting when you are tired? it’s usually no bueno lol. for this reason, i would always do cardio after weights if they are done on the same day.

I was ashamed of being big and strong for so long..

hating myself as i watched my friends slip into their single digit sized hollister jeans while i slipped into my stretchy size 14 american eagle jeans.

putting on a smile and saying thank you when someone thought they were complimenting me when they said “oh but you’ve got such a pretty face!”

i was surrounded by the notions of society and my friends and even members of my family who had already been engrained with this idea that skinny = beauty/success/happiness/love/acceptance.

so i chased it. the endless pursuit to be skinny. and you know what happened?

i gained an eating disorder that ravaged my mental and physical health for almost 6 years while i hid my secrets away never letting anyone close enough to truly realize what was going on beneath the surface of my plastered on smile, honor roll grades, and seemingly normal social life of a 16-22 year old girl.

it’s not an uncommon story, it’s the reason there’s over 30 million cases of documented eating disorders across the nation right now.

but i knew when i decided to take back my health in 2016 after being in recovery and gaining 50lbs because i wasn’t throwing up every meal that i had to do it the right way.

i stopped with the daily torturous hour long cardio sessions and started lifting weights and working out with the mindset of becoming better and not just smaller.

3 years later and here i stand proud as hell of the muscles i built on this body and the journey i pushed myself through to get where i am today. because let’s be real, i’m just getting started. 😈

Don’t focus your f*t loss solely on scale weight ⚖️

💧weight fluctuates, it is very common for weight to fluctuate a few lbs daily, most of the time it’s due to fluctuations in water.
😡 people see the scale go up or stay the same & hit the panic button thinking that something has gone wrong.
✅ there’s no need to panic these fluctuations are not body f*t (the thing we are all trying to lose) weight will always fluctuate day to day and week to week, that doesn’t mean your not making progress.
-
here are a few things that can affect your scale weight.
📌increase in fibre intake
📌pms week
📌not have a 💩 before weighing yourself
📌eating late the night before
📌having more carbs = more glycogen & no water
📌dehydration
📌changes in sodium intake
📌high stress levels
📌lack of sleep

so as long as you can truthfully say you’ve been consistent with your diet then stop stressing about the scale (if you can’t truthfully say that then work on your adherence).

if you progress has stalled for a couple of weeks then you may need a tweak to your nutrition but the scale not moving every week is not an issue. -
use progress photos, measurements, how your performing and how your feeling as progress markers too.

All it takes is a tiny bit of planning and a little bit of effort, to make an incredibly tasty and nutritious meal.

i stopped at the grocery store on the way home for a couple of fresh peppers, cooked a couple chicken b*****s in the instant pot, and fried them up in olive oil.

It really doesn’t matter how strong you are, fit you are, skinny you are, thick you are... if you’re struggling with mental health issues it’s gonna be hard to consistently be happy. you’re gonna have lots of days where you don’t even wanna get out of bed or eat anything at all. surround yourself with those who motivate you to do better, to be better. to anyone struggling with mental health issues, i just hope your good days outweigh your bad and you go to bed every night feeling nothing less then worthy of a happy life. be kind to one another :)

Super staturday!!! comparing my first progress pic of 2019 to my last and i’d say i did a good job. i lost a collective total of 30.75 inches and gained 9 lbs. 😲😲 i completed 3 rounds of #transform20, one round of #liiftformation (transform 20 & #liift4 hybrid), revisited #shiftshop #provinggrounds, melted fluff away through the fall with #mm100 , then ended the year with #6weeksofthework and i still went to cardio surprise on wednesdays. 💪🏽💪🏽🦵🏽🦵🏽🏋🏽‍♀️🧘🏽‍♀️ yes it was tough, but i had goals to meet and i always finish what i start. no matter how tired i got, i refused to stop. at the end of the liiftformation hybrid, i stumbled on my step and aggravated my sciatic nerve. i had severe back pain for 2 weeks. i rested and after i felt better i went back at it...hard. shift shop and mm100 were a breeze. 6 weeks of the work has these knees feeling like lead! 😂 but the definition in my arms, legs, and waistline are all worth it! 🌮🥓🥚🍇🍉🍌🍗

i eat up to 5 times a day. i don’t run from carbs. i have learned to eat what i like as long as i eat proper portions. i drink my superfood shakes 90-95% of the time. i drink a preworkout since i workout fasting, and i drink a post workout recovery shake when my workouts are extremely intense. ⚙️⚙️
do i have to go this hard? of course not. so to start the year off a little differently, i’m switching gears. i’m going to try something i’ve never done before. i’m raising the barre with barre blend. totally out of my element and a culture shock to my body! more info to come.

Ever find yourself stressing about how much fats and carbs to eat for f*t loss?

here’s the thing... it makes no meaningful difference!
-
you see, being in a calorie deficit is required for f*t loss.
-
protein is super important for retaining muscle mass.
-
but fats and carbs aren’t so important with respect to the amounts you’re eating.
-
many people look at this in the context of, going higher carb could cause me to gain f*t or not lose as much fat.
-
others think that higher f*t can cause them to gain f*t or not lose as much fat.
-
here’s the thing, carbs and fats, especially carbs, are used as fuel in the body.
-
the more carbs you eat, the more your body will use that to fuel itself. but the less f*t there is to store anyway because you’re taking up a lot of your calorie allotment with carbs.
-
if you take in higher fat, the more your body will use that to fuel itself. however, you will also have less room for carbs in your daily calories. besides... carbs don’t get stored as f*t very easily anyway.
-
the big thing is staying in a caloric deficit... you will lose f*t either way, no matter the ratio of carbs to fat. make sure you’re focusing on hitting your protein intake, however.
-
a couple guidelines would be staying above 15% of total daily calories coming from f*t for hormonal reasons. as well as eating 1 gram of carbs per pound of body weight minimum for a standard, flexible dieting approach.

1/4 cup beef gravy
liberal amounts of keg steak spice
black pepper

543 calories
68 grams protein
23 grams fat
11 grams carbs

There’s something you should note if you want to know how to lose 50 pounds fast. it’s not a stone throw away. losing 50 pounds doesn’t take dieting alone. there are a few other things you have to change. you have to choose to be healthy, you should obviously know all the unhealthy habits.

If you're going to start the gym this new year, while some of us have been going all year. i am kool with that, and i hope 🙏🏼 you see it through and give it your best. i'll treat you with respect, give you a polite smile 🙂 or even a crazy fist ✊🏼 pump if you look like you need one 🙂🤓 in return.... if you could please not f#%k around on your phone📱 not forget to wipe your sweat off the machines 😓, not do exercises on top of the dumbbell rack so everyone else can’t access them 🏋🏻‍♀️ and not stand chatting 💩 in a group 👬👭 while hogging a machine.

there is a reason new year starters get bad press 🙈 and that's because the majority f#%k around and dont play by the rules. take your training serious 💪🏼 , put your phone away, train with a partner who is just as serious, not someone who wants to f**k about n tickle ya fanny after every set.

when you're in the gym you're there to do hard fking work and smash your demons! 😈 f**k resolutions. and f**k starting again on monday.

in other words, we are eating more calories than our body needs to maintain its weight.

this means we are giving it plenty of energy to fuel muscle growth, achieve high levels of performance and feel more energized throughout the day.

we know a calorie deficit means eating less calories than you burn.

therefore, we are giving our body a reason to burn fat. -
however, this also means we aren’t giving our body the amount of energy it desires for normal performance throughout the day.

this means a calorie deficit isn’t as optimal for performance, and you may have less energy throughout the day.

so why would you want to be in a calorie deficit?

well... it’s required for f*t loss! so if you want to lose fat, you better be ready to get into a calorie deficit!
