d’un certain point de vue, le manque de patience est un défaut, qui à un moment donné, nous posera à tous des difficultés ⚠️

il faut bien se dire, que plus nous serons pressés, et plus nous ferons d’erreurs.
nous passerons alors à côté de beaucoup de choses, et nous feront passer à la trappe, des éléments indispensables à notre réussite 🤦‍♂️

c’est d’ailleurs pourquoi certains pratiquants vont chercher à s’entraîner tous les jours, avec la conviction de prendre plus de muscle 👎

c’est vite oublier que nous sommes certes, des machines à la pointe de la technologie, mais que nous avons besoin de récupérer 😴

vouloir tout, tout de suite, sans effort, est quelque chose d’impossible.
il faut donc arrêter de rêver, et travailler de manière intelligente, tout en prenant du plaisir à chaque entraînement 💪

One of my favorite things about fitness is the impact it has on mental health.
⭐️
i just wanted to share this post today because i think that #mentalhealth is super important and often minimized and not fully understood.

so many people promote #fitness in a superficial way focused on fake tan skin, plastic surgery, and quick weight loss methods- that is not fitness.
fitness is believing in yourself, fitness is truly pushing yourself to be the best you can be physically and mentally.

i am someone that suffers from very bad #anxiety. i take prescription medication for it, and i’ve always been able to work myself up over minor or even non-existent ‘problems’ in my life. my anxiety worsened when my parents divorced five months ago. i wasn’t focusing on school and my grades dropped. i had a hard time finding happiness and clarity.
i started increasing my cardio and i felt more balanced. i felt more in control. i felt happier and more at peace mentally.

I realized during @theclass thursday (the one that’s a mix between a workout class & therapy) that i’ve been holding onto a ton of guilt lately, for things that happened in the past that i can’t change

something about the workout moves, the music, the vibe, the instructor’s words (or a combo of the above) brought it up in me, which reminds me of how much movement & emotions are connected
.
toward the end of class, the instructor asked us to tell ourselves something we needed to hear. so here’s what i said:
▫️i made a mistake
▫️it’s ok
▫️i forgive myself
▫️i move on
.
we’ve all done things we’re not proud of, and i find we’re often hardest on ourselves about it. but if we can’t forgive ourselves, how can we expect to move on fully? if you’re feeling any sort of guilt, try telling yourself that over & over until you believe it. also, pop into @theclass if you’re ever in nyc, you’ll leave feeling lighter. xx 🧡

Hip mobility/flexibility exercises

a very important aspect of training athletes is making sure they are flexible and mobile enough to perform.

let’s get something straight here, flexibility and mobility are not the same. mobility is the ability to move a limb through its full range of motion within the joint, while flexibility is the ability of the muscle to lengthen. now they do work together in some cases but are not the same thing.

🎥 1: spider-man, great for increasing capacity in your hips, groin, glutes, hamstrings,as well as your thoracic spine

🎥 2: hip internal rotation ball squeeze. place a ball or foam roller between your legs, put your feet on the wall knees bent at 90 degrees, rotate your lower part of your leg outward and feel those cramps in your hips! great exercise for building capacity in the hip joints.

🎥 3: hip axials set up in a 90/90 position, and bring your back heel to the front legs heel and reset

🎥 4: sumo squat w/ rotation: set up in a deep wide stance squat, come down as far as you can, plant your hand on the ground, and rotate to the midline of your body, hold it for a 2 count and release. this is great for lengthening the groin muscles, as well as increasing t-spine rom. @rule1sports

The rdl or romanian deadlift is a great way to build of the posterior muscle when performed correctly. we see way too many people (trainers/clients and novice to exercise) performing this incorrectly which can lead to low back pain.

Workout #36 of 2020. had another great workout at the gym. it truly is becoming a routine for me - as in, i don’t even think about it as an option any more. i know that after work i am going to workout, and then i just make it happen. today i did 47min on the elliptical (3.75miles) and then the machine reset before i had a picture of my stats (which was surprisingly frustrating). followed it up with some back weights, and now it’s time to relax with my boys for the night ✌🏻

We're all creatures of habit... some of which don’t make us very happy💁‍♀️.

keeping it 💯, changing behaviors isn't easy. 🙅‍♀️ our current behaviors are what we're used to & what's comfortable for us. change is hard af.

if you're serious about making change, take a moment to ask yourself if what you're introducing is something that you can realistically (key word here) sustain long term. if it's an extreme change, then likely that answer is "no". rather than taking an all or nothing approach to it, give yourself some grace & be patient. choose a few small things to change in your daily routine & challenge yourself to meet these changes over 1 week, then the next & the next until they're seamless.

if they get easy, introduce the next change or build on that habit you've created. now we're talking progress + building off new (positive) habits that have replaced old habits that were no longer conducive to our goals.

your best friend will be consistency. your biggest challenge will be giving yourself grace if you derail one day. if this happens (and it will), there's nothing to "make up", just get right back on track, learn from it and move forward.

you want the secret to success? change (the habit that's not longer serving you) + consistency (repeat this change daily over time) + time (cue in patience). i challenge you to try this approach for the next 30 days ♥️ because if you do, you will not be the same person who is reading this right now.
