⚔️ warrior mindset

mindset plays a vital role when it comes to the choices we make in everyday life. through martial arts i’ve acquired a warrior mindset. there are 3 main qualities that stand out to me, which are: discipline, growth and obsession. i believe when you understand these qualities you can have a strong mindset to apply in every aspect of your life.

✖️discipline: it’s not easy and often people will find excuses but you have to remind yourself everyday of your goal. you have to change the dialogue in your head. write down and plan out the steps you need to take to reach that goal. put it in action everyday through healthy habits. discipline creates mental toughness.

✖️growth: when we force ourselves to stay in an uncomfortable situation that’s when growth occurs. it’s going to be a challenge but you have to persevere.

✖️obsession: you need to be driven and obsessed to be motivated. if you want to be the best you have to be obsessed. obsession is self generated, it’s something within you.

So i started training stalder press before christmas and added it to my 2020 goals hoping for a mid/long term success

and i managed it last night (see happy dance) 🥳 🥳 🥳 i did it 3 whole times but then my abs hurt too much to do more. this was the first one (hence my reaction). and needed it, super demotivated with my s****d leg and s****d finger. now to clean it up (and get rid of the cheaty rock into it 😂)

Had a huge past two days, my new job has me working like crazy but i still managed to find time to squeeze something in for today.

managed to do a 9km jog and one of my new favourite core workouts. although i'm focusing mostly on strength and anaerobic capacity these next few months, i'm still planning to maintain some aerobic cardio so that i don't lose it all.

Thanks to @rpstrength and all the knowledge that the team have put out. it takes out the guess work for me when creating a blueprint program with clients from beginner to advanced. i have been using their research and data for years now and its proven very fruitful.⠀

of course even scientifically backed data still requires a coach to individualize all programs for their clients as they progress on their journey. ⠀

throwing some random exercises together and hoping it is going to work for your client might be ok at the start but eventually the progress slows or stalls all together. ⠀

in 2001 (17 years ago 😱) helgerud et al. studied the effects of 4 x 4 min intervals on aerobic exercise capability and performance variables in young football players.

they actually did 4 min on 3 min off @ 50% hrmax so we've modified it slightly. they did this twice per week for 8 weeks. aerobic capacity increased by 8% and there were beneficial effects on the number of sprints, successful passes and distance covered during a match.

the basic elements of this study has been repeated many times in scientific studies all with similar findings and we've found exactly the same with our athletes too!

this looks really simple. but... you need to concentrate especially on the 3rd and 4th rep. any lapse in concentration and you can make this session a real battle. keep your focus and be strong! aim for 10-12 min in your red zone. let us know how you get on!

in the first round, complete:
5 am swings, 10 russ swings, 2 lengths of 14 meters front rack walks (2 kettlebells) and 4 lengths of running. add a rep/length to each movement to each successive round, rest for the remaining of each 2 minute round, if any (round 4 and 5 were 🔥).

Day 19 #forma2020 new year fitness challenge and it’s conditioning with @claire_berthier .

this little core routine will strengthen your anterior abdominal wall and integrate that area with both the pelvic and shoulder girdle stabilisers.
.

keep the hollow position as much as possible, avoid any arching of the lumbar spine. keep the scapulae in protraction even when supporting on one arm.
.
.
from the basic front support position, transition down to an elbow plank and back up two times. then it’s four shoulder taps, then 4 hip taps and finally two flying front supports. .
.
aim to minimise any wobble and lateral movement of the pelvis and feel how the tension spans from hands to feet and how it shifts and twists when in motion!

Tom started working with me back in september last year. when he initially came to me, his goal was to build muscle and strength. ⁣

similarly to most people i start working with, there were some issues tom had that were holding him back. he was recovering from shoulder surgery after a 2nd dislocation and had a very restricted range of movement in his left shoulder. he also had some issues going on with his lower back and leg. ⁣

after nailing the basics for the first block of training and having some focussed movements on his weaker areas, tom has improved in every area and has built a lot of strength and muscle.⁣

consistency, feedback, and trusting the process has been at core of tom’s results so far⁣

Day 1 crew killed it today!
@annierozy setting state records in all lifts and total, walking away with a 30lb meet total pr.
@liftlikelauren13 debut into powerlifting for her first meet and balled out also setting state records!
special thanks to @dopstrength pit crew for doing an amazing job handling and picking attempts for the lifters.
