Muscle-up progress ⁣

⁣yesterday was the best my muscle-ups have felt to date, and by far. while i’m still a long way off in terms of where i want to be, and i have some pretty specific goals, i’m very happy with my progress. ⁣

⁣here is a compilation of what i did:⁣

⁣1️⃣i started off the session doing several unassisted muscle-ups where i do use quite a bit of knee drive, and more of a swing. this helps me build my confidence, and shows me i can do them. i am working to eliminate the knee drive and swing.⁣

⁣2️⃣sets of single reps using a no-help ‘’confidence band.’’ the band i’m using actually gives 0% help, but for whatever reason it gives me more confidence and allows me to use slightly less knee drive/legs, and swing. so it’s helping me be more strict. i’ve never seen one of these ultra thin bands before, so i’m glad i have one :).⁣

3️⃣sets of two reps using the very thin white band. this band is giving me very little help. this is the band most people think of as the thinnest band (in terms of thickness, you generally see the green, blue, red, and finally thin white band). ⁣

4️⃣sets of six reps using a slightly thicker band. the first few reps always feel so weird as i’m used to doing them using little to no assistance, so i fly over the bar, but the band allows me to build up my volume and i eventually do need the help. ⁣

⁣my wrist transition still isn’t wonderful, but focusing on the ‘’high pull’’ is what is working best for me. my wrist transitions are improving a bit though, and my wrists are also becoming stronger and more resilient. i always stop my sets if i notice my wrists starting to ache a bit, and my wrists are usually my limiting factor (due to lack of transition) but today i experienced no aching. ⁣

⁣my end goal is to be able to do perfectly strict muscle-ups (and consecutive reps), more advanced muscle-up variations, and bar flow that involves muscle-ups.⁣

Bit of a different post today because i can’t train properly at the moment due to a wrist injury. cooking is something that i’ve always been interested in so i thought i’d share a recipe i got from @thebodyweightwarrior for a poached chicken broth. scroll down for ingredients and method and swipe across for pictures

ingredients:
.
- 1 free range whole chicken
.
- 1 chopped onion
.
- 5-6 chopped garlic cloves (i ran out of garlic so excuse the powder😂)
.
- 5-10 cm of grated ginger
.
- 1 chopped chilli .
- 20 black peppercorns
.
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
.
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
.
- 2 tsp lemongrass paste
.
- juice of 1 lime
.
- handful of kale
.
- 4-5 chopped mushrooms
.
- 80g rice
.
.
method:
.
- place the chicken and vegetables and spices (except the kale and mushrooms) into a slow cooker or large pan and full with water so the chicken is almost completely covered
.
- cover the pan and set the slow cooker to high or bring water to the boil and then simmer for around an hour and a half
.
- take the chicken out and shred all the meat off it and put it into a container. there should be enough meat for 3 meal and should last around 3 days in the fridge
.
- put the bones back in the pan and cook on low or still simmering for a further 2-3 hours
.
- cook the rice and steam the kale on top (or boil) and fry the mushrooms
.
- place rice, chicken, kale and mushrooms into a bowl
.
- pass the broth through a siv into the bowl to take out the bones and other bits and put the rest into a container
.
- enjoy😄

Piccoli miglioramenti raggiunti per quanto riguarda la forza di spinta: oggi ho eseguito un 6x3 di handstand push-ups al muro cercando di eseguirli meglio che potevo e più controllati possibile, sono riuscito per la prima volta a fare un 4x3 di dips con un +30 kg, ottimo volume per me considerando da dove sono partito e 100 diamond push-ups in 10 minuti con un bell'emom in cui andavo ad eseguire 10 ripetizioni al minuto! ho inoltre allenato la forza in tirata di richiamo con un 5x4 di pull-ups con un +12 kg cercando di eliminare più errori possibili, sono buone ma non perfette ancora purtroppo anzi... la tirata mi gioca sempre brutti tiri😭🙈
ora sarà sempre più difficile e gli ostacoli saranno ancora più tosti, però non posso assolutamente permettermi di mollare, al contrario sono ancora più motivato per dare ancora di più di ciò che sto dando, forza e coraggio che la strada è buona!!!😊💪🔥

I practice the one arm pull-up and this exercise is great to activate the lat and core.
if you are strong in this exercise your one arm pull-up will be done correctly.
i find it important to practice every exercise correctly and cleanly from the beginning.

🔥 one of the best ways to do that is with the @original_strength resets. and when it comes to advanced resets, one of my all-time faves is the elevated roll.

♾ the elevated roll teaches you how to connect your upper and lower bodies gracefully yet powerfully through one of the least trained (but quintessential) movement patterns: rotation. -

🚘if you’ve already done the lower body driven variation, why not take the upper body version for a spin? you can even toss in the standard variation afterward (as i do) to feel the added boost in strength, control, and fluidity that it gives you.

⚠️ to land this backflip.. i had to be obsessed ⬇️ 🧠 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💭 when i was 12 years old, i remember watching @diversity_official perform on @bgt , when @realperrikiely performed a backflip on stage. from that moment forward, i was obsessed with the skill.

💡 i made it my mission to learn a backflip, and you bet.. i told everyone i knew that i was going to land one eventually.

👀 the more i visualised it, i knew it would happen. it was a non-negotiable.

Before i talk about what is happening in this video, f**k that wall for anyone who is about to tell me to take my shoes off of it.
but this is an intermediate overhead pressing movement here, it’s a wall assisted handstand push-up, or whspu.
the main idea here is making sure your head is in front of your hands, which will result in a sort of diagonal route. again the concept of deleveragement comes into play, by moving at this angle we create a tension that replicates those seen at heavy weighted shoulder presses!

even more, with this movement i can really easily use the principle of accommodating resistance, which is where i make the part of the exercise where i’m the strongest, which is when i am lowering down, the hardest! i do this by attempting to use the wall as least as possible and by increasing the tut or time under tension by slowing it down significantly as well.
then on the concentric phase or when i’m pushing myself up, which is where i am weakest, i use the wall for dear f*****g life so i don’t embarrass myself. food for thought

How does one get stronger pulling strength with only their bodyweight? look no further, cause if you can do a chin up with one arm, you might need to reconsider why you need to be that strong in the first place.
let’s look at the numbers, i weigh approximately 205 lbs give or take. if i can pull my entire bodyweight with one arm i have 205 lbs of pulling force in each arm, which is 410 total lbs of force.
so in theory a true full one arm chin up would let me do a weighted pull up of 205 extra lbs!!!! we can work up to this let me repeat unnecessary level of strength,
through assisted one arm chin up progressions.
