You will not be instantly happier once you’ve attained your “goal weight” if you were miserable in the process of losing it.

you will be just as miserable in trying to maintain it.

if the process did not support your mental or emotional health.

if it caused you to cut out entire food groups.

this is much of why yo-yo dieting occurs.

yes... going the slow route and taking the time to learn how to love yourself, to learn your body, and to give your body the chance to change with time and training might seem like forever.

i get it, it’s hard to be patient especially if you’ve struggled for a long time.

instead of trying the quick fix diet over and over again and gaining and losing weight for 10 years, why not take the year or two to do it in a way that’s not only going to last but is also going to be enjoyable and a journey in finding yourself again.

Investing our last $6,000 in a biz course when i was barely making $1,000 per month seemed crazy!

it was 2017. the lab i had worked at for 11 years had just downsized and i’d been laid off.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀
we needed every single penny.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
i had no clients and i had no prospects of new money coming in.
my herbalife income had never been reliable and if anything, it was slowly dropping month by month.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
but i did it. i believed in myself and i invested!
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
i invested $6,000 for a 12-week program and i made it all back in 9 weeks.
in just 90 days i increased my pricing from $20 challenges to $350 programs.
over the next five months, i made $40k!

it didn’t end there.

in 2018, i started seeing $10k months.
in 2019, i hired a team of 6 and i am now seeing $30k months on the regular.

this is my, super hard working, online client @gina_squires18 ⁣⁣

a lot isn’t going to happen in 3 weeks but i don’t think enough people show the journey while it’s happening. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
but that being said, you can already see some body recomping happening (losing body f*t while simultaneously maintaining/building muscle while eating maintenance calories, high protein & lifting heavy). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
the goal for now is to build muscle, so we’re hitting lower 3 times a week and upper 2 times a week. ⁣and increasing calories every other week as her body handles high cals very well!⁣
⁣⁣
gina is: ⁣⁣
•lifting heavy.⁣⁣
•achieving progressive overload.⁣⁣
•eating 2500 calories.⁣
•having around .1g protein per lb bodyweight. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
shes an absolute star who works (nights sometimes too), has a gorgeous kiddy and works hard af in the gym 💪🏼. ⁣⁣

already hitting 110kg on hip thrusts ... can’t wait to see what we can achieve together. ⁣⁣

don’t be scared to increase calories a little and to lift heavy af! (safely with great form obviously). ⁣⁣

1️⃣ the all or nothing mentality, for the most part, leads to failure. you can’t cut chocolate out forever. you can’t eat chicken and broccoli every single day for the rest of your life. and if you’re dieting for a certain period of time so that you can “go back” to how you were eating before the diet then you’re not going to be successful long term. and who only wants to lose weight for 8 weeks? 🙅🏼‍♀️

2️⃣ chocolate doesn’t make you fat. ice cream doesn’t make you fat. chips don’t make you fat. being in a calorie surplus makes you f*t 🍫🍦🍟
.
3️⃣ you can lose weight. you just need to find something that you find sustainable and can stick to for longer than 90 days, and more importantly create healthy sustainable habits for a lifetime. stop thinking that you can’t do it. stop looking for the quick fix. stop thinking you don’t have willpower. find a big enough reason to change your life and you won’t look back ✌🏽

4️⃣ it’s not the meal plan or the training plan that you can’t stick to. it’s much deeper than that. it’s your views of yourself, it’s the identity you live through, it’s your self worth, it’s how you perceive yourself. start working on your inner as you work on your outer 🧠

This just in: i can finally see my p**s again for the first time in 5 years 🤣🤣🤣🤣only 10 days left on this 8 week program and i’ve never felt better. the physical results are absolutely incredible but the mental strength that comes along with actually finishing something i started is so addicting!! i’ve never been committed like this before and i owe it all to having structure and accountability. two areas that have been lacking since my college softball career came to an end in 2014. continually overcoming challenges like becoming sober for 8 months and losing 20 lbs and completing a program like this has proven that i am capable of so much more than this life i’ve settled for!! self esteem is so important. work on that and you will completely transform your life. ✨

Here’s my little black dress transformation... i genuinely feel as though i’ve given myself the best gift possible through changing my lifestyle.

How’d my macro mentorship program client, with no website and an ig following of just 300 people, sell out her coaching and make back her investment (plus some!) in just 8 weeks?!?!

ah instagram the world of filters and photoshop. i have no reason to lie about any of my photos. i don’t care what people do to theirs but as for me you will never see me alter my physical body 🙅🏽‍♀️. i won’t enhance any curve and i won’t slim my tummy or anything else. 🤷🏽‍♀️⠀
for example in the white lingerie photo from a couple days ago i think it’s very obvious that’s not photoshopped. most women who alter their bodies on ig would have definitely fixed the tummy part on that photo 😬. nope not me there’s my squishy tummy and all. my squishy (heh in my dori voice 🐠)⠀ ⠀
i always find it comical when women i know alter their body then you see them in a live video or in person and it’s a drastic difference. booboo we all notice 😂. majority of the time their natural body is perfectly beautiful. ⠀

now i say something hypocritical 🙃🙂😅⠀

i will tell you that i do edit my eczema in some of my photos because in certain lighting the scaring looks like i have ashy mud on me. i also at times will click this generic filter on an app that automatically smoothes out my skin (on my face) and makes my teeth whiter. i do not however do this on all photos. ⠀

fun fact i never edit out my stretch marks or the cellulite which is on my b***y 🍑. my cellulite came with the weight gain and my stretch marks came years ago when i started lifting heavy 😜🏋🏽‍♀️.⠀

so fellas i guess the cats out of the bag my skin isn’t silky smooth and flawless like the goddess and khaleesi you all believe that i am. 🐉 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣🤫🥴 #noonecares

Man listen, the glow up has been a steady process but i’ve come a long way! 😭🙌🏼 praise god for growth. on the left i had just turned 23, and i can remember how insecure i felt looking at pictures of myself- and how deep inside i wanted to change but was content with being lazy and unhappy with what i saw in the mirror. i was with someone at the time who never made me second guess if i was beautiful and for that i appreciate him- but the truth was that i needed to make changes for my health. and that’s why it wasn’t until i had that realization 8 months later that i decided to do it foreal. fast forward to my now 27 year old self, so happy i embarked upon this journey, and fell in love with the process. never been this confident and happy with myself in my life- and the crazy thing is it didn’t come from the changes you see on the external. it comes from the changes you can’t see with your eyes- that have manifested themselves before you. i will never stop my pursuit of growth and progress, because to me a big part of life is becoming better than you were before. so here’s a little #throwbackthursday to remind you that we all have to start somewhere. 2015 me was still cute tho ☺️

The girl on the left gave up. she thought she was too far gone, had too much weight to lose, wasn’t capable of sticking to a diet long enough to ever see any progress. the girl on the right - 75 pounds lighter than that girl on the left - knows that giving up is no longer an option for her 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 this wasn’t always my body: my life wasn’t always full of motivation and workouts and making healthy choices. that left photo isn’t from the start of my real weight loss journey, it was from some random “diet” i tried and stuck to for less than 1 week before screwing up, getting frustrated, giving up and going back to my old habits.

How to combat the need to crash on the couch after work⁣

✨save this post for later✨⁣

you are not meant to work, sleep, repeat. you should have enough energy after your workday to do what you want to do without feeling exhausted. ⁣

here’s some quick tangible tips to implement right away to start getting that energy back 👇🏼⁣

🔥 drink half your body weight in ounces of water ⁣

ex. 160 lbs person should be drinking 80 oz of water a day minimum⁣

the proper amount of water will ensure that all the systems in your body are running smoothly, especially your digestive system. everything is affected by your gut - so if your gut is sluggish, you will be sluggish. ⁣

🔥 eliminate sugary beverages⁣

this includes your “zero sugar” drinks as well. they most likely are sweetened with artificial sugars (ex. sucralose) and affect your body the exact same way as actual sugar does. 😬⁣

sugary beverages just cause your body to be dehydrated. for every one sugary beverage you drink, you’d need to drink two glasses of water to cancel it out. ⁣

so, if you’re drinking more water but still drinking sugary beverages, you’re not going to see any results. ⁣

🔥 exercise for at least 10 minutes daily⁣

go on a walk. dance. swim. clean. ⁣

do something that will cause you to sweat just a little bit. this will release endorphins (the “feel good hormone”) which provide your body with natural energy hence giving you that extra pep to make it through the rest of your day. ⁣

𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄. 𝑶𝒘𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒕
a lil over 2 years apart. the only difference? deciding to invest in my future self. tapping into the magic that was already inside of me. it doesn’t take eons to start to feel good in your skin. trouble is, starting. i remember the girl on the right. her idea around what was healthy. her eating + exercise habits. it wasn’t intuitive or balanced. there wasn’t a foundation in place. but that girl was also stubborn and lived in a mindset of eat whatever you want + work it out in a class or at the gym later. ⬇️
now- the journey looks a whole heck of a lot different. the only way i was able to see the magic and possibility was by accepting that i needed some guidance. i needed to try something new! the workouts were 30 minutes start to finish and i started paying attention to everything i was putting into my body. i noticed a change before the first program was even done. it was a fraction of the cost of a gym membership and it was so simple to follow. it also took all of the thinking and planning out from my workouts which was what held me back most of the time. turns out bopping around the gym on equipment doing random exercises didn’t get me results🤷🏽‍♀️

Are you gaining weight and not sure exactly why?

there are several reasons that can lead to people slowly gaining weight over time, without even realizing it. the typical american diet is a large part of that problem…

remember, at it’s most basic form, the reason we gain weight is by consuming more calories than we burn. also known as a “calorie surplus”.

many people eat out daily, and often past satiation. you don't have to finish every bite of your food each time you sit down to eat! for many, this approach of “clearing your plate” has been instilled in them from an early age. don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with eating out…but you should be aware of what you’re eating. a meal at cheesecake factory, for example, can be 1000-1500 calories easy.

mindless snacking throughout the day while working, or watching tv, netflix, youtube etc, can really add up as well. especially with things like chips, and candy. if you want to snack try swapping these foods for things like carrots, cucumber, or celery. pair them with a bit of hummus and that can be an amazing snack that’s probably better than digging into those chips.

for the most part, trying to avoid liquid calories can be beneficial as well. it’s totally fine to enjoy things like juice/soda, coffee drinks, alcohol, etc in moderation. just try not to make them a part of your daily diet.

lastly, the sedentary lifestyle most live isn’t helping either. if you work a desk job, or find yourself sitting most of the day, i would recommend that you stand up and stretch, or walk around the office every 30 minutes or so. you could also look into a standing desk. standing is much more beneficial than sitting.

try to prioritize these 6 factors, and you’ll be well on your way to seeing the progress you want!

remember, don’t try to completely revamp your entire lifestyle all at once. take small steps. choose one small step, make it a habit, and move on to the next one!
