This is where i’m starting. 75.6kgs. the heaviest i’ve been in a while and that’s okay. i’m starting to work with @blackironnutrition again and i’m excited. i made a lot of progress, physical and mental, working with them before. i thought i could maintain on my own, but it turns out i need someone to hold me accountable. and that’s okay. -
i’m also excited because i’ve been transitioning to a plant based diet (for my own personal reasons) and i’m anxious to see how it will effect, and ultimately improve, my performance and health 🙂

I had a day today that i’m really proud of. it’s been a long time since i have felt this celebratory in the gym!

i’m so fortunate to have @kevinogar building a program built specifically for me. in just six weeks, i’ve seen results i’ve always strived for, but never had the full means to achieve. when the old pr clean and j**k felt so smooth, i knew it was going to be fun!

15 min to build to a heavy clean and press:
1st: 140# (old pr)
2nd: 145# (1st pr)
3rd: buzzer-beater 150#!

When you squat (regardless of the variation), you want to maintain even pressure through three points of contact with the ground, with each foot, at all times, hence the term tripod foot. these three points of contact are your heel, the base of your big toe and the base of your small toe (as highlighted in the image). keep your weight evenly distributed through these three points of contact at all times, to allow for maximum force production!

trying to master the hip thrusts and perfect my form. slowing down your reps helps tremendously with mind muscle connection 😌💪🏼 it’s not necessarily better to go faster during your workouts. try kicking it up a notch and pause at the peak of each rep to really feel the burn 🔥 this goes for any workout 🤩

Человек, жаждующий добиться желаемой цели сделает все что от него зависит, не вспоминая даже об этом. Другие же, вечно в поисках оправдания, руководствуются доводами типо "Вот у тебя есть сила воли, а у МеНя нет".
Главной причиной является только то, что Минутная слабость, отдаляющая тебя от результата, желаннее сейчас, потому что ты можешь получить ее в короткие строки, а ваша цель, увы не так близка.
Задавайтесь целью и добивайтесь её.

pr!!!! 500lbs x1 against 100lbs of bands. 600 at the top! this is what having a good coach is about. @derek_randall watched me hit my prescribed reps and made a judgement call to go heavier. so we went to 455 against the bands and got 2. go heavier! load up 500 on the bar and rip it. tried for 2 but not there. but getting this 600 at the top is amazing for me! it’s basically my goal for this year. a 600lb lift. i’m now entering big boy territory for deads...i’m so excited to see how this translates to the @acafa_caasa season. come check out @elite_strength_academy and set some prs! you’re stronger than you think. .

2018 —-> 2020 same weight of hip thrusts with 265lbs with a couple more reps, better form and control. i have been prioritizing and practicing control, mind to muscle connection over the past year..ish and it makes a huge difference in my training. it definitely takes time, but i have noticed an improvement in my mobility, strength, and recovery. my hip flexors are no longer tight and no longer ache after each leg session. i just feel more mobile and stronger over all. somedays i feel like i’ve regressed in “strength” but in reality i am stronger than before in my own way.

Day 155 - just renewed my gym membership for year two today😃 to celebrate, i added heavier weights to the barbell for my calf raises and hip thrusts. almost fell off some steps with my bambi legs afterwards. then as soon as i got home, jogged two miles around my neighborhood. barely made it to two miles😨 my body hurts, but i feel so good right now💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

my dream has been achieved. i picked up 500lbs off the ground. this post is dedicated to a couple of people.

@delyackle - my first trainer and coach. without him, i’d never care for lifting at all. it started with him.

@mike_rwlc - the first crossfit gym i joined and took lifting seriously. i learned how to be competitive from him and the coaches from the relentless weightlifting.

@davedepew - for the training and environment that reinforced what it meant to be strong and providing an entry point to strongman, leading to this obsession for strength.

@claire_bullzaistrength - for the powerlifting programming and teaching of rpe. this has opened new ways to train and it’s working so well.

@justin.avery and @alyssa_liftsthings - for being the best strength family i could ever be part of. the live and support from them and the complex crew is how i got this lift.

last but not least, my amazing wife carolyne for being so supportive, loving, and patient with me as i chase strength.

thank you to all those that i tagged and to many many more who’ve influenced me beyond that which i was capable of.

Today was a great day. this was my second powerlifting competition, went 8/9 and got bronze in the 57kg weight class! best lifts today:

squat: 105kg / 231lb (27lb meet pr)
bench: 52.5kg / 115lb (15lb meet pr)
deadlift: 110kg / 242lb (22lb meet pr)

big sad face when i missed my third deadlift attempt at 112.5kg / 248lb, being that i pulled this weight during training. after a couple of tears, i got over it lol. my attempts didn’t go as planned but it’s all good, they’ll be there next meet.

got to meet and lift with some amazing individuals today. big thanks to coach juber for making me stronger every day. and thank you to all of my lifting buddies, friends and family that showed support today! y’all are the real mvp.

it's true that it might be tough at the beginning, but simply remember that you just have to change a bit at a time. it starts with 10 minutes a day. then to 20, then to 30, then to an hour and so on.

Landmine workout 💥

landmine’s are something i’ve never really used too much in the past, not sure why, but my eyes have been recently opened (get ready, clients 😉) ... the curve of the movement allows you to move the weight freely in a bunch of directions, supporting your natural movement patterns and often recruiting more muscle fibers than some movement-restricting machines. it can transform normal moves like the squat or overhead press and give them them an unfamiliar feel due to the weight imbalance, forcing the body to adapt with the movement. they can also help prevent back and knee pain during compound moves like the squat or lunge, and lessen pressure on your shoulders when doing overhead presses. .

You get what you give. pour your heart and soul into every workout. every set is do-or-die; every push, every pull, every lift - make them all count. you are racing against the clock. focus is the key 🔑!!! i did not start from perfect health, but i take each work out serious now. if you attack these workouts casually, prepare for disappointment. you may as well not even bother working out. unless you are prepared to go hard, don’t go. arnold schwarzenegger gave me a critical nugget of advice, face to face, and this advice was “train hard!!!” .

363 days ago (1/20/19): looking like a rookie. most people dream of this kind of progress. up 30kg in the s****h (60-90) & 30kg in the clean & j**k (80-110) 😈 this sport isn’t all about the numbers however unlike powerlifting, strongman or crossfit; it’s mostly about the quality of the lift and the perfection of the execution if i dare say. that’s what drew me to the sport, the intricacy and focus required to climb the ladder doesn’t just lie on brute strength, but also technique, flexibility & speed. its the kind of sport where you’ll either get bored very quickly, or never at all considering the sheer number of variations of the classic lifts. olympic weightlifting is definitely not fit for everyone, but i love it ❤️

How's the bar path on your squats? in a perfect squat the bar should move in a straight vertical line over the mid foot for the whole lift.

my recent 225lbs front squat pr. your front squat should be around 85% of your back squat. for me, that would be about 265lbs, so i know my front squat is disproportionately weak and i will be prioritizing it in my next training block.

Incline bench press on one of the most unique pieces of equipment. #keiserairmachines swipe right for differences from traditional weight. ⁣

as with every other exercise, there are many cues and variations you can use to promote different types of stimulus.⁣

here i am honing in maximizing the amount of muscle fibers recruited in the chest for hypertrophy rep range with these cues below.⁣

✅ engage your abs and keep lower back on the pad, maintain throughout.⁣

✅ pinch shoulder blades together and down toward your pockets.⁣

✅ push both hips and shoulders against the pad evenly⁣

✅ grip the bar to where your hands are positioned just outside parallel to your elbows at the bottom of the rep.⁣

How do you actually do a squat clean?
this exercise is basically a combination of the power clean and front squat.
however, it requires you to do many different movements, some at the same time.

the first movement is a deadlift, which then needs to be followed by a shrug of the weight onto your shoulders.
