Today i decided to test my max for squats and managed to get 305 for 1 rep, i felt like i had at least one more rep in the tank but didn't want to exhaust myself for the next set. ▪
i followed that up with some romanian deadlift to activate the hammies. good hamstring strength will overall help with bodyweight strength, they help in deadlift, squats, running, etc. after that i decided to implement some core work with one leg dragon flag lifts. ▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪ ▪▪▪▪▪▪

Decided to go heavy today on snatches. it’s been a long time and i need to get that confidence back. i don’t even remember the last time i pulled over 70.3kg/155lbs. also did some s****h grip deadlifts that looked horrible and too embarrassing to show but did show me my hips are rising too early when it gets heavy 😂

5/3/1, cycle 4, week of 1s, with 6x322 back squat. changed the angle to show my setup for high bar squat with a moderately narrow stance. left a rep or two in the tank, saving it to put more effort into my conditioning. going to sub the 5x10 deadlift for bent over (pendlay) rows and mix in smashing down thor's hammer for 30 reps. this will be the last squat cycle where i use weight under my 1rm to calculate the percentage of each week. will be about a 20 ilbs jump. #wendler531 #boringbutbig #squat #backsquat #highbarnarrowstance #dropitdownlow

The back squat is not my strongest lift but i’m really trying to get better so i set my phone up at different angles and recorded myself, watched it back, changed something and did it again. i don’t think i’ve ever done so many squats but the time was worth it because by the last few sets i was present, in my body and focused. ⁣

4x12 on each leg! make sure you are powering off your heel not your toe! keep this movement controlled! ⁣⁣

⭐️ superset: leg press for 10 reps and then go right into dumbbell rdls for 12-15 reps. (not videoed- sorry 😭) keep your stance on the leg press high and wide to activate hamstrings and glutes! slow and controlled on the rdls- make sure your head stays in line with your spine. ⁣⁣

happy to train after a huge work week..

technique & strength..
-
1) complex power s****h from ground or from a deficit start with overhead squats up to 70%..
power s****h helps to extend fully and powerfully at the top of the second pull also to pull under the bar quickly.
deficit is great because i have trouble using my legs in the initial pull from the ground and trouble finishing the pull at the top.. also my hips mobility isn’t optimal - this exercise emphasise the trouble..
from not plane plates .. was a little bit harzadeous and dangerous🤪 won’t do again.
2) s****h grip paused pulls from ground and from deficit. i note again the difficulty to start with flat back on the deficit pulls - up to 80%..
pausing is strengthening and allows to maintain proper positioning during the pull..
despite that it’s segmented i totally failed it ❌ hips and shoulders raising at different pace ..
3) some lights series of j**k grip push press to finish the session.. -

Not over here just trying to look cute. not here just for body goals. lifting is a form of therapy for me. i feel strong. accomplished. like a bad a*s when i make a goal that i set out to do. and i love that as a trainer, i get to help others reach their goals too. maybe your goal isn’t to get your 1rm max squat to 285. whether it’s a strength goal or aesthetic goal...i don’t care. i just love helping my clients feel empowered to do something they set out to do. giving the gift of possibility, hope, and empowerment...that’s my passion. “what do you want to do? ....heck, yes....let’s go get it!” that’s my mindset for both myself and others. the stuff that goes on inside of our heads and conquering that, is more important to me than anything physical. because if you can overcome the battle in your mind, the body will follow.
