Week 5 workout 5 from the @ado_challenge! ⁣

im finally getting back into the workouts with the challenge! i was sick for so long and out of the game! i feel like i am behind but i jumped into week 5 workout 5 of the current program. ⁣

its so cold outside and i didn’t feel like going out to the garage ( even though ours is heated ). i am so happy i can do these workouts anywhere in the privacy of my own home. its honestly the only way i get s**t done sometimes. especially in the winter months. ⁣

i feel like i lost so much strength from being sick and taking some time off 😣 so i modified today’s workout a hair↙️⁣

you’re only strong as your weakest link, and you need muscular balance. the human body always seeks balance and homeostasis in all of its systems, and your progress will be hindered if it feels this lack of balance puts it at risk.⁣⁣

Part of my new plan is hitting weighted glutes ✌🏼per week! i’m focusing on hypertrophy style training as i want to rebuild my buns back! that requires weight. we don’t change unless we are forced to! so these buns aren’t going to grow unless i force them too! still very aware of when i lose mind to muscle connection so i am focusing on increasing with proper activation.

here’s what i did 👇🏼

warm up - i started with 10 minutes incline walk followed by some glute activation and abduction work. always.
_
i did 3 each sets of 🔸15/leg fire hydrants
🔸10/leg straight leg hydrant - keep leg perpendicular to your body
🔸15/leg knee to chest glute bridges
_
then i moved onto weighted hip thrusts focusing on increasing weight has my reps went down. i did start between 8-12 reps for 5 sets.

🔸12/leg db deadlift
🔸15 hamstring curl ins (keep hips up!)

🔸15 bb weighted glute bridges (helps to visualize each vertebrae moving one by one up off the floor and back down)

It’s monday and it’s day 1 of my mini reset! i somehow turned the month of november and the start of december into eat all the c**p month! like why?! doesn’t matter really because i did it and it’s over with! i feel tired, foggy, bloated, my sleep is off, and my skin is yelling for help. so! this week is 100% 30 days to healthy living eating and next week i’ll add my 7 day detox. this will take me to christmas eve where i will stay the course all morning than enjoy pasta fagioli for dinner. christmas will be the same practice. control the morning and indulge at dinner. the difference is, the day after i’m back on track. not because i can’t have the foods, but because i feel better when i’m following my plan. ultimately i want to feel good every day. i didn’t even know what i was missing before doing my first 30 days. it’s a feeling i’m keeping! cheers to day 1 #reset #10daydetox #detox

i almost didn’t get this workout in too but that little voice of discipline man - lawd she’s a nagging little bi*** isn’t she ?!? telling me to get it done .... boy i tell ya. 😜 so i cranked out this 40 minute amrap workout and it sure kicked my arse!

warm up - i started with 10 minutes incline walk followed by some glute activation and abduction work. always.

then i set the timer for 40 minutes and cycled through this circuit. amrap stands for as many rounds as possible. so i took very minimal rest for the entire 40 minutes. it had me sweatin!😅

🔸20 overhead ball slams from knees
🔸30 banded mountain climbers
🔸12 plank crunches (man these suck!😅)
🔸12 bench jumps
🔸12/side oblique hip drops from elbows

Getting em in when i can!
this workout i knew i was short on time and wanted to get my heart rate up and a solid glute pump💪🏼 so i superset my lifts with some plyometric moves!

really focusing on mind to muscle connection in these lifts and working to try establish that before adding more weight. crazy what 6 weeks off will do to your strength!😅

so happy to be cleared this week! my last workout was october 1st - that night i went into labor! slowly getting back to it but also not mad at where i am progress wise. i did lose some strength and and muscle mass but i’m up for the challenge and so ready to get it back! plus definitely welcome the “me time” even more. this week i was happy to get in 5 workouts!

here’s one of my at home workouts this week👇🏼

warm up - i started with 10 minutes incline walk followed by some light (also so banded here too!) shoulder presses, external rotations (for rotator cuff) and weighted arm circles to warm up the shoulders and prevent injury. i do about 1-2 sets of 15-20 reps each. just enough to wake up the muscles!

💫kneeling single arm arnold presses 3 x 12/arm - i like single arm to really give mind to muscle connection to these muscles. i struggle with sometimes activating my traps. kneeling i love to engage more core!

💫incline side lying lateral raises - 3x12/arm - think like you’re putting the db on a shelf just out of arms reach to really feel this in your delts!💪🏼🔥

💫15 kneeling medicine ball slams - keep core right and don’t round at the lower back! focus on lats slamming the call back down and biceps to curl the ball up
💫10/arm plank up - core tight
💫amrap alternating leg drops - keep lower back pinned to the floor. knees are 90 degrees. dip toe to floor as far as you can. if lower back comes up, stop. that’s your rom. as your core gets stronger you will be able to lower more!

Not where i want to be yet but a long way from where i was. july to now...big changes. thank you to @ado_fitness and the @ado_challenge for being the most exciting part of this journey so far. i was using low carb and “fad” dieting to lose the weight initially and while i was losing pounds my body stayed the same shape and i wasn’t happy with the physical results despite what the scale told me. 6 weeks ago i won the opportunity to join this challenge and make sustainable changes to my diet and exercise routine. i couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. 3 pounds lost in 6 weeks but over 15 inches during that time. #adofallchallenge #adofallchallenge2019 #adofitness #adobands @adobands @mishkadawn @joeyg_911

So other than shopping, working out is the one other thing i make time to do for myself. before, i paid a monthly gym membership and had to pay my daycare for an extra hour so i could have that #metime

How to avoid the grocery store c**p trap..... 1️⃣shop the perimeter and stay focused when in those center aisles. now i know there are plenty of nutrient lacking foods on the perimeter but overall it’s the place to be for clean healthy foods. 2️⃣shop with a list and pay attention to it while cruising those center aisles. even the “health” food aisle has junk in it. 3️⃣dont shop hungry. always a sure way to leave with everything they carry. 4️⃣ if it isn’t on your list, double check yourself. is this going to keep me on track for my goals and do i need this vs want it. happy shopping 🛒 #grocerytips #shoppingtips #healthyshopping

Week 5 workout 5 from the @ado_challenge! ⁣

im finally getting back into the workouts with the challenge! i was sick for so long and out of the game! i feel like i am behind but i jumped into week 5 workout 5 of the current program. ⁣

its so cold outside and i didn’t feel like going out to the garage ( even though ours is heated ). i am so happy i can do these workouts anywhere in the privacy of my own home. its honestly the only way i get s**t done sometimes. especially in the winter months. ⁣

i feel like i lost so much strength from being sick and taking some time off 😣 so i modified today’s workout a hair↙️⁣

Water! everyone has heard “drink your water” before. yet it is something that most people struggle with (including myself). i really used to struggle getting enough water in until i took up a few hacks to help me along.
1. flavor! sliced fruit, juiced fruit, even herbs (mint or basil) can enhance your water. try blending whole fruits in with ice for a special treat.
2. pretty cups! who doesnt love pretty things and tumbler cups have come such a long way. they hold lots of water and the cups are so cute to keep out.
3. check boxes! i keep a journal out which has my meals planned out. i have added 3 boxes to the top of each day. 3 boxes = 3 tumblers, my daily water goal. once i finish a tumbler, i check a box off and i know exactly where i stand for the day.
4. add of course make your water do double duty! not only hydrate you but also give you glowing skin and a pick me up with my “pink fizz” drink.

things in other areas were a struggle as well. so today i spent the morning with my youngest, got two workouts in, cleaned house a little, got packed for the weekend, and spent some much needed time decompressing.🖤
