“a bike is the perfect way to see the world,” says photographer jered gruber (@jeredgruber
), whose love for cycling has taken him around the world to document bike races and riders. “during a race, i’ll try to find the prettiest spot. so i make the scene, and then the race happens within it. but getting the photos are difficult — there’s so much going on and so little time to think. you don’t get another try.”
recently, jered headed to italy for la maratona dles dolomites, an 86-mile (138-kilometer) race with 13,878 feet (4,230 meters) of climbing through the country’s northeastern mountain range. in his photos from the race, he tried to capture the feeling he himself gets on a bike: “that moment of, ‘this is incredible, and i can’t think of any place i’d rather be.’” 🚵♂️
today on our story: head out for a ride with jered at la maratona.
