After batsheva hay quit her job as a lawyer seven years ago, her fashion shifted. “all i was wearing was vintage clothing, and i would go into department stores and i just couldn’t find anything new that i liked that was as much fun to me as the vintage clothing,” she says. so she started making her own vintage-inspired clothes, and then in 2016 she started a dress company, batsheva (@batshevadress ), where she takes elements from other eras — from victorian to pioneer to hippie — and gives them a modern twist.

This isn’t a camera trick. “my favorite part of this video is that people would never know how many takes i tried,” says illusionist henry harrius (@henryharrius ), who specializes in close-up and interactive magic. “we filmed this outdoors, so the wind made it much harder. i also wanted to try to catch the cards without looking. that's why it took so many takes to make it work.”

“i try to design my videos like a card trick. i want you to know there’s some trickery going on, but i’ll make it as difficult as possible for you to spot where it’s happening,” says visual effects artist and stop-motion animator kevin parry (@kevinbparry ). “my absolutely favorite part about this video is seeing people pour over the little details and debate how it was done,” he says. “i love hearing theories that are completely wrong!”
